Chapter 33 - The Monster's Disciple

The sky that afternoon was clear.
The sun shone brightly over the city.
People carry out their activities as usual.
The streets are filled with vehicles.
The sidewalks were filled with pedestrians.
Children running in the park.
Office workers are busy going in and out of the building.
No one realizes that fear is growing slowly behind their normal lives.
Because news about the latest serial killer is still the main topic everywhere.
And in the midst of all that...
Someone is watching.
Sena is sitting in a crowded cafe.
The location is right across the street from an office building.
His hand was holding a newspaper.
At first glance, he looks like an ordinary customer enjoying his free time.
But his eyes never really read.
His gaze continued to be fixed out the window.
Towards someone.
Adrian.
The man had just come out of the building with Samuel and Dion.
They are having a serious discussion.
Every now and then Adrian would point at something on his phone screen.
Every now and then Samuel seemed to be in denial.
Dion looked frustrated as usual.
A normal view.
Very normal.
Too normal.
And that's what made Sena hate him.
He stirred his coffee slowly.
Her gaze never left Adrian.
The man now known to the world as Adrian.
Not Raka.
Not Vulture.
Not the monster he used to know.
But someone who looks like an ordinary human.
And Sena couldn't accept it.
Before...
Raka is a storm.
When he entered a room, everyone immediately fell silent.
When he gave an order, no one dared to object.
When he moves, people follow him.
Even his enemies were afraid.
But now?
Sena saw Adrian chuckle when Samuel said something.
Seeing Adrian helping a waiter who accidentally dropped a folder.
Seeing Adrian apologize when he bumped into someone.
Little things.
Things that may mean nothing to others.
But for Sena...
That felt like an insult.
Because the man she used to admire was never like that.
Raka did not apologize.
Raka doesn't smile at strangers.
Raka does not live like an ordinary human.
Sena clenched his fists.
The coffee almost spilled.
Several customers turned around.
He immediately calmed down.
No.
It cannot lose control.
Not yet.
Not yet time.
But the feeling of disappointment remains.
Eating away at himself bit by bit.
Because over the years...
He built his entire life on someone's shadow.
Someone he believes is different from other humans.
Someone he believed was stronger.
More awesome.
Bigger.
But when we finally met again...
All he saw was an ordinary man.
A man who even looks tired.
A man who occasionally looks doubtful.
A man who occasionally looks scared.
A man named Adrian.
Not Raka.
On the other side of town.
Evan is attending a press conference.
Dozens of journalists filled the room.
The camera light flashes non-stop.
Questions came in droves.
"Have the police found the suspect?"
"Is this case really related to Vulture?"
"Should people be worried?"
Evan answered carefully.
But each answer actually raises new questions.
Because the reality is...
They don't have an answer yet.
And that makes the pressure even greater.
When the conference ended, Rio approached her.
"We have a new report."
he said.
Evan immediately stopped walking.
"What report?"
Rio handed over a folder.
"The next victim."
Evan's heart immediately beat faster.
But a few seconds later he frowned.
"Still alive?"
Rio nodded.
"This time is different."
A man was found in an empty warehouse.
His hands were tied.
His body was covered in wounds.
But he managed to survive.
For the first time since the series of murders began...
There are living witnesses.
And that changed everything.
Meanwhile the police moved towards the hospital.
Sena already knew the news beforehand.
He read the news that had just come into his cell phone.
His expression didn't change.
Not angry.
Don't panic.
As if it had all been predicted.
Because the victim was never planned to die.
Not this time.
The victim had another purpose.
Bait.
A message.
A small step towards something bigger.
Sena closed her phone screen.
Then look back at Adrian's photo stored in the gallery.
He already has hundreds of photos.
Photo of Adrian walking.
Photo of Adrian speaking.
Photo of Adrian investigating the case.
Photo of Adrian sleeping in the car.
Photo of Adrian looking exhausted.
All collected over months.
An obsession that slowly turns into a habit.
And a habit slowly turns into a disease.
Afternoon.
Adrian sat alone in the city park.
He had just left the police station after exchanging information with Evan.
His head felt full.
This case is getting more complicated.
Every answer actually gives rise to new questions.
He closed his eyes for a moment.
Enjoying the sound of the wind.
The sound of children playing.
The sound of normal life.
Something he had almost never felt before.
In the past, his life was filled with nothing but blood.
Order.
And death.
Now everything is different.
At least that's what he wanted.
But far from there...
Someone was watching him.
From inside a car parked across the park.
Sena stared at Adrian without blinking.
The children ran near the bench where Adrian was sitting.
A little boy accidentally dropped the ball.
The ball rolled towards Adrian.
Adrian took it.
Then returned it with a smile.
The boy laughed.
Then run back.
Sena froze.
Moment.
Then his jaw clenched.
Anger slowly rose in his chest.
Because the scene felt wrong.
Very wrong.
In his memory...
Raka never smiled like that.
Raka never cared about little children.
Raka never looks peaceful.
The man he once admired should have become a legend.
Becoming a symbol of fear.
Become an untouchable monster.
Not someone sitting in the park giving balls to kids.
Not someone who enjoys the afternoon sun.
Not someone who looks happy.
"Sad."
Sena muttered.
The sentence just came out.
He kept staring at Adrian.
Looking for something.
Looking for the shadow of the old Raka.
But the longer he looked...
It's getting harder to find.
And that made him even angrier.
Because if Adrian really changes...
If Raka is really gone...
So what has he been chasing all this time?
What does he hate?
What did he sacrifice?
What was the meaning of all the suffering he had kept inside for so many years?
The car behind him honked.
Sena woke up.
The traffic light has turned green.
He immediately started the car.
But his mind still lingered in the garden.
Still left behind is Adrian's figure.
To the figure he once considered perfect.
And for the first time...
A small fear arose within him.
A fear he didn't want to admit.
What if Adrian really isn't Raka anymore?
What if the monster is really dead?
But a few seconds later...
The fear turned into something else.
An idea.
A belief.
A new goal.
If Raka has disappeared...
Then he will wake him up again.
In any way.
With blood.
With pain.
With loss.
Just like before.
Because according to Sena...
Monsters cannot be cured.
Monsters can't change.
Monsters can't be ordinary humans.
And if Adrian pretends to be human...
Then Sena will destroy the mask bit by bit.
Until the world sees who he really is again.
The sun began to set on the western horizon.
Golden light enveloped the city.
People are returning home from work.
The streets are crowded again.
Life goes on.
Without knowing that a tragedy was approaching.
Sena stopped her car in a multi-storey parking lot.
It goes down slowly.
Enter the building.
Go up to the top floor.
Then stand on the edge of the concrete fence.
From there the whole city is clearly visible.
His gaze was cold.
Empty.
Dangerous.
He took out his cell phone.
Open a secret folder.
Inside is a list of names.
Dozens of names.
Some have been crossed out.
Some haven't.
His hand stopped on a new name.
Samuel.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
Then he closed the screen.
Because finally he understood something.
If you want to destroy Adrian...
He didn't need to attack Adrian first.
It just needs to take the people around it.
Little by little.
Until there is nothing left.
And when that time comes...
When Adrian lost everything...
When the pain destroys him from within...
Maybe finally...
Raka will reappear.
Meanwhile the afternoon wind was blowing harder.
Sena stood still looking at the city.
Like a student waiting for his teacher to rise from the grave.
And without anyone realizing it...
The game has entered a much more dangerous stage.
Because now Sena's goal is no longer to kill.
No more imitating.
Rather, it awakened the monster that he had always believed was still hiding inside Adrian.
