“I told you, Mom. I told you that I want to be a - BOTANIST!”
It made the three of us halt from pushing the grocery cart further into the other aisle when we heard a shout from a boy.
“I don't want to be in here. I want to be somewhere else. Why can't you two understand that!”
Our eyes darted from someone and I sneak a glimpse to my side to see Wyn's reaction. His eyes narrowed as he observed them.
“Cosmo.” He uttered under his breath. It didn't pass my ears and I still clearly heard what he said.
I ignored it and take another look at the couple who is having a hard time dealing with their kid that from my assumption kind of looks like as someone of the same age as Ryan.
“I don't want to move. I'll stay here.” He slumped. And sat exactly on the tiled floor.
He eyed his parents again. “I'll stay here not until you decided for me to become a botanist.”
“You're too young to be a botanist.”
I gasped after hearing Ryan's words. The couples eyes went towards him followed by the stare of confusion from the their little boy. His expression turned soured, he frowned at him.
“I'm so sorry.” I voiced out my apologies at the couple.
They looked stunned. Their body turned rigid. That is when I realized that they are looking at Wenceslas.
“Do you know them?” I asked simply because of my curiosity. Wyn stared at me, his eyes are now looking cold.
“I do.”
I can feel them as they walked closer towards us. Wyn gave me a small smile but it didn't reach his eyes.
Something is wrong in here.
That made me wanted to know more about what happened but I can't ignored the feeling of wanting to sulk on the corner because Wyn gave me a cold stare. Wenceslas gave me, a cold stare! I want it to be emphasized in my head.
That made me forget about Ryan for a second. I gave the child a glance, he just showed me his bare smile. I melted. My stoic expression was changed in a mere second becayse of what he did. I smiled back and ruffled his hair. What a cute little boy!
“Wyn. Glad to see you again.” The woman smiled at him, and her smile brightened even more when her eyes went towards me.
She looks familiar. I think I have seen her before but I can't remember when. I forced myself to reciprocate the smile she gave me. The corners of my cheeks hurt because of how forced I am while trying to looked all friendly with the smile I just gave.
“Cosmo is right. We're glad to see you again, Wyn. Where have you been? It's been a long time since we last spoke.” He pulled his wife closer to him. That made me squint my eyes after seeing the gesture. It's a possessive stance.There is definitely something that happened between these three. I deeply stared at Wyn, waiting for his answer. He smiled at them.
“I'm glad you took notice of my disappearance. I was away to woe my girl back.” His stare is now different. He looks at me lovingly. But my body stiffened because of the burning rage I am feeling in the moment.
“Ahhh.” It came from the guy. The girl smiled in response to what Wyn said.
“I'm glad you have your own family now, Wyn. You finally found your happiness.”
Wyn moved his hand to grasp the pushcart. He gave them a bland stare, nodding his head he opened his mouth.
“Excuse us. My wife and I still have a lot of things to tend too.”
He effortlessly pushed the cart without any trouble. I held Ryan's small wrist before giving the couple another smile. And this time it wasn't as fake and I didn't tried so hard to push myself to try to make it.
I didn't say anything after going through another odd incident. Dodging the stares and ignoring the subtle touches that Wyn did when we were buying for grocery items inside the mall.
I kept talking to Ryan asking him what he wanted to buy. And shoved item after item on the cart without saying anything. I stayed silent also for the whole ride.
Warren hoisted his child up in the air and carried him on his back before his eyes went to gaze at us.
“Thank you for looking after him.” He stared at us, openly speaking his genuine eyes as he said it.
"No worries. We have fun having Ryan around. But I certainly hope Ryan also had some fun while he's with us. What do you think, Ryan?” I said while looking after Ryan's face.
He smiled and his head moved into a nod. It made me smile.
“There it is. Ryan was happy indeed. So, we will have to go now.” I added.
I waved them goodbye. Didn't spare Wyn a glance and went ahead to go inside the car. Moving my legs closer to the car door. And stared at the window.
I didn't hear a word from him. The engine started and we, the both of us were silent throughout the whole ride. None of us want to start a conversation. He probably must've observed my act, that Wyn decided to stay silent too.
I waited for the car to be properly park before opening the door and walked away without saying anything.
Before I can head inside my wrist was pulled. Wyn took the opportunity to hold the other side of my shoulder and span me around. Both of his hand are now placed on both sides of my shoulders. I positoned my gaze somewhere else.
“Love, what's wrong?” I stared at him with a blank gaze. Trying to copy the look that he gave me when we went shopping.
“I don't know. How about you ask yourself? To know if there is something wrong, Wyn.” I answered while feeling the blandness of my words.
He sighed. “Is this something that happened a while ago?”
I moved my hands to removed his hands off. And turned my back to walk inside the house.
I stormed inside the bedroom pursing my lip hardly. I know that my impulses were shallow but I can't help but feel mad about it. I stared at Wyn who is currently leaning on the door while his eyes are looking at me. Hesitating to come in.
"Why are you not coming near me?” Gosh why am I whining when I am supposed to stay mad.
“Is that what you want?” He said his words in a teasing manner that brought back the anger I felt in the moment.
I looked away, and crossed my shoulders. He's making fun with how I reacted.
He paced towards the bed and sat beside me. Scooted his body closer into mine and suddenly pulled me into his embrace.“I'm sorry, love. You're probably wondering why I acted that way.”
I moved my head to looked at me. “Why did you act that way” Can you tell me?” My voice went soft.
“The woman at the grocery store is my ex-girlfriend.”
“And that guy was one of your pals?” I said, finishing his sentence.
I knew about their story but I never knew their faces. Wyn told me the exact thing that happened between them. And I cannot stressed this out enough because my experience and his is somehow similar but also different from each other. What a nice ruckus of love stories! And it happened in the past anyway so it's fine.
“And now. Why don't you please tell me why are you upset, love?” Wyn looked at me, testing out whether it's okay to finally strike a good conversation with me.
