Chapter 93 The Failed Mission
Sasha’s POV
“What did you do?” Damon accused the moment he walked into the house, his gaze fixed on me.
I knew what he was talking about. He was too smart for his own good. Why couldn't he have the same brain as his mother? Why couldn't he be more trusting? Why did he always have to suspect everyone around him?
I shrugged though, pretending not to know what he was talking.
His gaze hardened and he stepped forward, his hands curled with rage. I flinched as he stepped forward, afraid that he would hit me even though he had never done that before.
He placed his hands on my shoulders and I exhaled in relief. I wished he would pull me closer and draw me into his arms though. That would have been a perfect beginning to a wonderful night.
A night he had no idea what more was in store for him.
If he was this angry because he suspected that I had something to do with his mother's call, I had no doubt his anger the next morning after the success of my plan would be a volcano.
Did I care? No.
Because he would get over it by the time the results started showing.
After all, he wouldn't be able to turn against his child.
He dropped his hands and sighed. I also sighed at the loss of his skin on mine. I comforted myself with the thought that I was going to have more than his hands on my shoulders very soon.
“Sasha,” he sighed. “Stop playing these games with me. I'm tired.”
“Why?” I hissed. “Because you are nursing a wife who isn't yours.”
“Is that why mum wants to see us? This late at night? What did you tell her?”
“Who said I told her anything?” I denied, squaring my shoulders and looking him in the eye.
He shook his head in amusement though his shoulders still looked slumped with irritation and helplessness. “My mum knows that Nora is in the hospital. She knows that I am at the office and work late into the night. Tell me why she wants to see me with my actual real wife that she knows I don't want to be around at a time I should be resting. How does that not scream you, Sasha? My mum isn't that inconsiderate. What did you tell her to make her behave like that?”
His words hurt but I forced the pain down. He was going to swallow his words soon by the time I was done with him.
“I don't know what you are talking about.” I replied, praying that Cara had indeed left my name out of the conversation she had with her son.
I prayed he was only attacking me based on speculation and not facts.
“We have less than one hour to be at your parents’ house. If I were you, I would go shower now and get ready.” I said, subtly glancing at myself to let him know how ready I was and how he was the one keeping me waiting.
He hissed long and hard before marching off to his bedroom.
Minutes later, we were seated in his parents’ dining room. Cara had gone all out as usual and it pleased me to see Damon enjoying his mother's meal. The fuller he was, the better for my plan.
Cara beamed as she watched him eat and flashed me a smile.
“I am happy to see you eating well.” Cara noted, beaming at her son.
“Your food is good.”
I glanced at the time, wishing that we would finish eating on time. I needed to move on to the main reason I had wanted to be at my in-laws’ house.
“Who cares for some wine?” I asked, rising to my feet after dinner is over.
“I have work tomorrow.” Damon grumbled.
I snorted. “Tomorrow is a Saturday.”
He snorted right back at me. “I work on Sundays.”
“Take it easy with life, boy.” James laughed. “Get us the wine, daughter.” He smiled at me.
I trusted Damon’s parents to be with me even when they didn't know that they were playing right into the trap I had for their son.
I happily went for the wine and got four glasses. I served them all, making sure that there was more wine in Damon's glass.
James always had the best collection of wines. Just as I expected, Damon tipped his glass up and downed the wine in one gulp. I smiled at my plan taking shape as I wanted it to, already knowing Damon would do that as he loved to get things done as quickly as he could.
I leaned forward and refilled his glass.
His eyes narrowed at me. “I didn't ask for more.”
I smiled innocently at him. “I thought you wouldn't mind a refill as you seemed to enjoy the wine.”
“No one can resist my wine.” James beamed with pride.
“Aren't you taking the wine?” I asked.
“Don't insult your wife’s care.” Cara said, glancing at Damon.
Feeling subdued, he drank it all in one gulp, unable to stop himself from his habit of not wasting time.
I filled the glass again.
“Sasha,” he snapped, losing his temper with me and forgetting that he loved to keep an act in his parents’ presence.
“Oh!” I gasped, blushing. “I couldn't help doing that. It is an habit that I can't control. Seeing your empty glass when the rest still have wine forces me to fill it up instinctively.”
Cara and James chuckled but Damon growled at me, not at all amused.
Knowing his parents wouldn't let him waste the wine, he picked up the glass and drank, this time sipping the wine slowly while glaring at me.
I smiled. It didn't matter. Step two of operation seducing Damon was a success.
Getting him to his parents’ house so we could share the same bedroom. Check.
Getting him drunk so he would sleep soundly and wouldn't have enough strength to fight me off. Check.
All I needed at that moment was to have a bit of patience and everything else would fall into place.
Damon checked his watch and sighed, rising to his feet. “We have to go. Thanks for dinner, mum. See you again, dad.”
“Did you come with a driver?” James asked with a frown.
“No, we didn't.” I replied before Damon did.
Damon realized what it was I had done and glared at me, his gaze filled with malice and hatred. He seemed to realize that I had everything planned. After all, I had been the one to convince him not to go with a driver as we would be having dinner. There was no need to make the poor driver suffer in boredom while waiting for us.
He had agreed, not interested in arguing with me, without knowing what I wanted to do.
He seemed to realize that I had also gotten him to drink on purpose.
He sat down with a defeated sigh and brought out his phone.
“Don't you dare think about calling a driver.” James snarled at him. “It's too late to disturb someone’s night.”
“Why don't you sleep here with your wife?” Cara smiled, hopping to her feet in excitement about hosting her son fully for the night. “Let me get a room ready.”
A room. Never have I heard a word as beautiful as that.
Damon glared at me, annoyed with sharing a room with me against his wish but not daring to tell his mother that he wanted a different room.
I smiled as I stared at him, glad that I had him just where I wanted him.
