Nora's POV “Who sent you?” I asked after the third delivery of flowers, my heart racing with fear. “I have no idea.” The delivery guy gave the usual response as the others did, placed the flowers on my bed and walked away. My heart jumped with fear as I watched him leave, wondering who on earth was playing a silly game with me. If the person didn't want to show himself or herself, they should stop rattling me. It was days after I got the first flower delivery and I had been getting flowers like that everyday. I didn't make a mistake to think that it was Damon as I did the other day as he had told me that he would deliver his gifts himself as from then on. I stared at the flowers lying on my bed, afraid to touch them as if the bouquet was a snake ready to bite me. Maybe it eventually would as I didn't know who was behind the delivery and what their intentions were. Damon walked into the room and I glanced up, my heart spasming with relief at the sight of him. He noticed the flowers first before glancing at me, his lips thinning with distaste. “Again?” I sighed and nodded, my heart heavy as well. “Who is it?” “They didn't tell me.” “This has to stop.” He growled and marched out of my room, not letting me say a word or telling me what he was up to. He marched right back in, picked the flowers from the bed, threw them angrily into the trash can and marched outside again, his gait screaming fury. If the situation wasn't so dire, I would have burst out laughing at his reaction and how cute he was. Minutes later, he walked in, sat on the bed and ran his hand over his face, breathing like he had run on a thousand treadmills. I didn't say a word and let him be, knowing that he needed the time to work through his emotions. “I've told the nurses not to let anyone come into your room again with gifts of any kind. No one except me and Jane should be allowed close to you.” I smiled at how protective he was. “Thank you.” “I hate that you are being stalked.” He exhaled, his torment evident. I hated to see him struggle and wanted to put an end to it. If I couldn't put an end to it, I could ease his struggles a bit. “Are you jealous, Damon?” I teased. He didn't even smile. I sighed. I wouldn't have if I were him as well, worried the way he was about me. I was also scared but was trying not to think too much of it. He was already freaking out on behalf of the two of us. “I can't lose you, Nora.” I pulled him closer. “You won't.” “I can't help wondering if someone is targeting you to be my weakness or it's your enemy that is behind this.” I understood what he meant and shook my head. “No, it can't be Mark.” There was no way he could have found me. He didn't have access to Damon's circle. He couldn't have seen Sasha and found out that I looked like her. Moreover, he couldn't have known that a Mrs. Bennett was hospitalized much more try to test out if I was the one. I was so sure that Mark couldn't have been responsible for the flower delivery. If he had been, I knew how he would have reacted. I had given myself away that first day I got the delivery and admitted that I was Nora. If Mark had been testing me and the delivery guy had confirmed to him that I was indeed Nora, he wouldn't have continued sending flowers but rather would have barged into the hospital to make a horrid scene. I didn't think Sasha would have sent me flowers too. She couldn't have been wishing me well and if that witch wanted me scared, she would have done the act herself or send her partner in crime. Those were the enemies I had that I could think of. I thought of the call I had sometime ago and brushed it away. Nancy was dead and couldn't have called me. I concluded that the call was probably from someone who knew of my past and wanted to scare or play a prank on me. It was either I believed that or believed that Damon's enemy was trying to get to him through me as he feared. I couldn't bear the thought of that. I was scared to be his weakness. He had his head bowed, despair oozing out of him. I pulled him closer, hating how he looked. “I will be fine.” I assured as I pulled him closer. “You don't know that.” He sighed, pulling away. “You didn't know that you were going to fall in love with me.” He chuckled but it lacked humor. “Actually, I knew that I was going to fall for you and that was why I did my best to avoid you.” I was stunned by his confession and got tongue-tied, unable to utter any more word. He grinned at my expression. “I can't believe I robbed you of words.” He chuckled, this time freely. “You actually robbed me of breath.” He sucked in a breath, harsh and pained. “Nora,” I leaned forward and took his hand in mine, rubbing it gently. “We will be fine.” I said again, desperately wishing that he would believe me. He inhaled, exhaled and nodded. “You are right, my love. We will find out who is behind this unnecessary flower delivery but in the meantime, we won't let them affect us.” I smiled. That was exactly what I needed him to say. “That is my man.” His eyes twinkled and I wrapped my arms around him, breathing in his familiar and most wanted scent. “That is my man.” I breathed against his neck, knowing that he would want me to say the words again. His arms tightened around me and I grinned at the good call I had made. I was nervous and scared but I wasn't going to let my paranoia get the best of me. We weren't going to.
