Adrian started to step away, clearly done with their antics. “Wait! Hold on, Adrian!” Amy called, waving her arms like she was flagging down a taxi. “Listen—um… we kinda need your help!” Sarah groaned, muttering, “Kinda? We definitely need his help… and we’re the ones who got flung out of a car like human projectiles.” Adrian stopped and glanced over his shoulder, eyebrow raised. “Oh? And why should I help the girl who just called me a squeaky-cat voice parade leader five minutes ago?” Amy waved a hand dramatically. “Technicalities, darling. We’ve moved past insults… to the stage of desperate negotiation! We came here… to have fun!” Sarah gave her a sharp look. “Fun? That wasn’t what you said. You said you wanted to find a rich… never mind.” Amy smirked, reaching over and yanking Sarah’s charger cord off her neck. Then, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, she lightly flicked it against Sarah’s face. “What was that for??” Sarah almost whimpered, clutching her cheek. “Exactly what you did to me,” Amy replied with a sly grin. Adrian, folding his arms and pinching the bridge of his nose, muttered dryly, “Are you two begging… or just making a full-blown comedy drama here?” Amy tilted her head, flashing a sparkling grin. “A little of both, darling. A touch of desperation… a sprinkle of chaos… and absolutely, unquestionably, fun!” Sarah muttered under her breath, rubbing her cheek. “I swear… I’m doomed.” Amy grinned mischievously, nudging her. “Doomed? Sarah, my dear… every time, every season, you are always doomed. It’s practically your superpower! The Doom Magnet—first of its name, terror of dignity, conqueror of calm evenings!” Sarah groaned even louder, half-exasperated, half-amused. “I can’t even argue with that…” Adrian shook his head, smirk tugging at his lips. “You two… hopelessly impossible. Fine, I’ll help. But only because I’m curious how far this ridiculous circus will go.” Amy clapped her hands together, triumphant. “Mercy and wisdom! Lead us, noble orange-jacketed hero, to the gates of nightlife!” Sarah groaned, muttering, “I can’t believe this is actually working…” Adrian started walking toward the bouncers, the girls practically bouncing behind him with giddy relief. Adrian leaned in slightly, whispering something to the taller bouncer. The words were inaudible over the thumping bass, but the bouncer’s expression softened ever so slightly. Then Adrian reached into his pocket, pulling out some bills and handing them over with a subtle nod. Amy and Sarah exchanged wide-eyed glances, trying desperately not to squeal. “Is he… bribing them?” Amy whispered, eyes glittering. “Oh, this is golden! Absolutely cinematic!” Sarah muttered, “I feel like we should be arrested for witnessing a crime…” The taller bouncer straightened, glanced at Adrian, then back at the girls. “Fine. But stay out of trouble,” he grunted, waving them inside. Amy grabbed Sarah’s arm, practically dragging her forward. “See, my dear partner-in-chaos? Everything goes according to plan when you have… strategic allies.” Sarah muttered, “Strategic allies? You mean someone who just paid off bouncers with money we don’t have…” Amy tilted her head, smirking. “Ah, but we do have money. You know… for taxis, tiny adventures, and minor acts of rebellion. This counts as… investment!” Sarah groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Investment? Amy… we’re not stockbrokers, we’re just… doomed humans trying to survive a nightclub.” Amy ignored her entirely, throwing a mischievous grin over her shoulder at Adrian. “And you, heroic orange-jacketed negotiator, deserve a medal—or at least a round of applause from chaos enthusiasts everywhere.” Adrian groaned, shaking his head. “I swear… I’m going to regret tonight. And it hasn’t even started.” The girls slipped past the bouncers and into the pounding lights, deafening music, and swirling crowd of The Electric Groove. Amy’s eyes sparkled like a child let loose in a candy store, while Sarah tried to steady herself, muttering, “I can’t believe we actually got in…” Amy twirled dramatically, pointing toward the dance floor. “Get ready, Sarah! Chaos awaits! Adventure, music, and maybe… interpretive dance!” Sarah groaned again, muttering, “I really should have brought a helmet for my dignity…” Adrian lingered at the entrance for a moment, hands in his pockets, watching the girls disappear into the crowd. He shook his head, muttering under his breath, “Unbelievable. Absolutely… unbelievable.” **************** “First things first, Sarah!” Amy shouted over the deafening bass, the music thumping like a heartbeat in a frenzy. “Rich-boy hunting begins tonight! Targets: mysterious, tall, dangerous… preferably with a sense of humor and a car!” Sarah blinked, trying to keep up, her voice barely audible over the music. “Amy… what—” Amy leaned closer, voice pitched for maximum dramatic effect. “Keep your eyes on that handsome orange-jacketed guy! He will—he will—take us back to school with his car if anything goes wrong. Thank heavens we saw him!” Sarah squinted, trying to locate Adrian through the swirling crowd. “Wait… what? Who—” The music swallowed her words, and Amy, frustrated at the lack of reception, turned, cupped her hands around her mouth, and yelled like a Broadway star. “I said—KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE HANDSOME ORANGE-JACKETED HERO!” Sarah flinched, grabbing Amy’s shoulders. “Oh my god, Amy! Stop screaming at me—my eardrums are dying!” Amy threw up her hands theatrically. “Dying, living… irrelevant! The drama demands volume!” Sarah groaned, rubbing her temples. “I swear… you’re chaos incarnate.” Meanwhile, Adrian had noticed them from a few feet away, leaning casually against the bar, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Really?” he muttered under his breath. “They’re actually hunting… in a club? Without a plan? Without IDs?” Amy, catching sight of him, grinned devilishly. “Ah-ha! There’s the noble orange-jacketed hero! Keep your eyes peeled, Sarah!” Sarah rolled her eyes but obediently glanced in Adrian’s direction, though she looked more like a reluctant bodyguard than a strategic lookout. Amy twirled again, pointing toward the dance floor. “Music! Lights! Chaos! Adventure! And maybe… just maybe… a rich, handsome, slightly scandalous boyfriend!” Sarah groaned, holding her hands over her head to shield herself from the flashing strobe lights. “I think I’ve peaked in embarrassment already. I don’t even know how to survive this.” Amy grabbed Sarah by the arm and yanked her into the swirling crowd. “Nonsense, partner-in-crime! Every great legend requires a sidekick who’s constantly on the verge of death-by-overwhelm!” Amy spotted a group of guys near the bar, tall and stylish, sipping drinks and laughing. She leaned closer to Sarah, whispering loudly: “See them? That’s the target zone. Observe, strategize, and—most importantly—look dangerously charming while doing it.” Sarah muttered, “Observe… strategically… dangerously charming… I just want a chair.” Amy slapped her hand over Sarah’s shoulder. “No chairs, no rest! This is the hunt, darling! And if anything goes wrong, our orange-jacketed savior—Adrian—will whisk us to safety!”
