Amy and Sarah stared at the posters plastered across every wall like a pair of students who had just discovered the world was ending… with glitter. Amy flopped onto a nearby bench, burying her face in her hands. “We’re broke. Flat. Completely out of cash. Our wallets are laughing at us while Chloe throws shade with glitter and paper!” Sarah leaned against the fence, tossing a crumpled poster into the air and catching it dramatically. “Broke is an understatement. I don’t even have enough money for a snack, let alone a party that’ll compete with Chloe’s evil masterpiece.” Amy perked her head up, a sly grin spreading. “We could… borrow money.” “Borrow? From who?” Sarah snorted, waving her hands. “My mom? She’ll ask for a full report, receipts, and a notarized letter from the principal. Your dad? He’ll lecture us about responsibility, taxes, and life choices we haven’t made yet.” Amy waved her hands dismissively. “Forget that. Let’s tell them it’s not true. We’re not hosting any party!” Sarah tilted her head, smirking. “Ah, the classic denial approach. Genius. But what about snacks? Drinks? Decorations? Chloe will expect us to throw a massive bash, and we can’t feed the entire school with imaginary goodies.” Amy jumped to her feet, snapping her fingers. “Then we host a small party! Tiny. Tiny enough that Chloe will see it and realize she’s been outplayed.” Sarah clapped her hands. “Tiny, you say? So… like, five people? Two balloons? One cupcake each? And maybe a polite jazz hand?” Amy tilted her head, considering. “Exactly. Intimate, exclusive, and deadly… in humor, of course. The perfect small-scale chaos.” Sarah laughed, pointing at another poster stuck to the lamp post. “And Chloe will freak out when she sees it. She’ll think we’re rolling in cash, throwing a massive event, and laughing in her glittery face. Meanwhile… we’ll actually be eating instant noodles in the corner, sipping tap water.” Amy grinned devilishly. “Oh yes. The illusion of grandeur is key. Style over substance, my dear Sarah. Style over substance.” Sarah raised an eyebrow. “So, basically, we’re hosting a fake mega-party for maximum revenge points?” Amy snapped her fingers again. “Exactly! Maximum chaos. Minimum effort. And 100% hilarious.” The two girls exchanged wicked smiles, already plotting how to turn Chloe’s glitter-fueled prank into the most memorable, chaotic, and budget-friendly showdown in school history. ****************************** Leo strolled down the school hallway, hands in his pockets, earbuds in, humming quietly to himself. He rounded a corner—and froze. His dark eyes scanned the walls plastered with glittery, oversized posters. Big letters screamed: “PARTY HOSTED BY AMY GREENE & SARAH! 6 PM! SCHOOL GYM!” “Wow…” he muttered under his breath, stopping in his tracks. “Amy and Sarah…?” A group of students nearby were whispering excitedly, pointing at the posters. “Did you see this?!” one girl squeaked. “Are they seriously throwing a party?” “Since when do they even… party?” another boy asked, eyebrows raised. “They’re broke!” a third chimed in, shaking his head. “Amy’s always moaning about her wallet. This has to be a prank.” Leo’s lips curved into a faint smile as he glanced between the posters and the gossiping students. “Yeah… this is gonna be interesting,” Meanwhile, Amy and Sarah peeked from around the corner, watching the scene unfold. Amy whispered, “Do you think they believe it?” Sarah grinned, nudging her. “Oh, they think it’s real. Just wait until they see the actual party…” ********************* By late morning, the hallway gradually emptied as students drifted back to their dorms, still whispering about the posters. Amy stomped into the dorm, running her hands through her hair in frustration. Strands stuck out every which way, evidence of a morning spent untangling chaos… and gossip. “Ugh,” she groaned, flopping onto her bed. “I can’t believe Chloe did this. I can’t… I just can’t.” The door clicked open, and Chelsea peeked in, her usual shyness giving way to a curious boldness. Over the past few weeks, Amy and Sarah’s antics had chipped away at her quiet, timid exterior. Now she approached with a small smile, tilting her head. “Are… are you guys really hosting a party?” she asked, voice tentative but steady. Amy sat up, running a hand through her wild hair, and gave a mischievous grin. “Yes. We are. And it’s going to be… legendary.” Sarah, leaning casually against the doorframe, grinned. “Yep! Totally hosting. Small, exclusive, budget-friendly—but absolutely a party." Chelsea blinked, surprised but intrigued. “Oh… wow." Amy smirked, flopping back onto her bed. “ It’s all about the style. And chaos.” Sarah laughed. “Exactly. And everyone will talk. The illusion of grandeur is way more fun than the actual party itself.” Chelsea’s lips curled into a small smile. “I think I just might help… if you’ll have me.” Amy sat up, eyes sparkling. “Of course! We need all the chaos agents we can get.” Sarah nodded, pointing dramatically toward the ceiling. “Welcome to the team, Chelsea. And prepare yourself. Things are about to get sticky… and hilarious.” *************************** Later that afternoon, the cafeteria buzzed with the usual lunchtime chaos—trays clattering, students jabbering, and the faint aroma of mystery meat wafting through the air. Amy and Sarah slid into a corner table, trying to look inconspicuous as they nibbled on sandwiches that were somehow still edible despite Amy’s propensity for disaster. Across the room, the staff were clearly in a frenzy. “Who took the ketchup?!” one of the lunch ladies shrieked, waving an empty bottle like it was a weapon. “I had three! THREE bottles! And now… one is gone!” Amy froze mid-bite, her eyes darting toward Sarah. Sarah’s eyes widened in perfect synchronized panic. “Uh-oh,” Before either could do anything, the cafeteria doors slammed open with theatrical flair. Chloe stormed in, dramatically flinging her hair over her shoulders, and climbed atop one of the long cafeteria tables. Every head turned. Silence fell like a heavy curtain. Amy and Sarah shrank a little in their seats. Chloe’s voice boomed across the room: “Attention, everyone! Listen carefully, because I’m only saying this once!” The students leaned forward, some smirking. Amy gulped. “She’s going to announce it again… Oh no…” Chloe raised a glittery hand like a conductor about to start a symphony of doom. “Amy Greene! Sarah! Your… so-called party… will be live in the school gym at 6 PM sharp! Everyone is invited to witness your… oh, let’s call it… ‘spectacle.’” Gasps and whispers erupted across the cafeteria. “Spectacle?!” Amy hissed under her breath. “I didn’t even plan a real party!” Sarah grabbed her arm, eyes wide. “We’re toast. Totally, gloriously toast.” Chloe stomped one glitter-adorned shoe for emphasis, standing tall atop the cafeteria table. “And don’t think you can hide or deny it. The posters are everywhere! The whole school knows!” Amy and Sarah froze, exchanging horrified glances. Chloe’s voice carried over the murmurs of curious students gathering around. “So, I’m thrilled to officially announce… tonight, Amy Greene and Sarah are hosting a party! Yes, a grand party… starting at 6 PM in the school gym!” Whispers erupted through the cafeteria. “Amy and Sarah? Really?” “No way, I saw the posters!” “Gym at 6? Sounds fun…” Amy buried her face in her hands. “Who does she think she is? Printing posters, inviting everyone, and now making it look like we planned this?” Sarah hissed, tugging at Amy’s sleeve. “This is all your fault!” Chloe raised her arms dramatically, pretending to smooth her hair and strike a “neutral host” pose. “Yes, yes, I know it sounds impressive. Everyone, please make sure to attend! There will be fun, games, and… um, refreshments.” Her smile was saccharine sweet, but Amy and Sarah could practically see the glittery dagger behind it. Amy whispered to Sarah, “She’s literally going to make us the laughingstock of the school!” Sarah muttered back, “And we’re broke. Flat broke. I don’t even have enough money for snacks, let alone a gym full of students expecting a party.” Chloe’s eyes scanned the cafeteria as the crowd buzzed with excitement. “So mark your calendars, everyone! Don’t miss the amazing evening hosted by… Amy Greene and Sarah!” Amy groaned, letting her hair flop over her face in frustration. “She didn’t say a word about being the mastermind…” Sarah nodded miserably. “She’s staying mysterious. And we’re stuck cleaning up the mess.” Chloe leapt down from the table gracefully, leaving Amy and Sarah standing like deer caught in headlights, the entire cafeteria buzzing with anticipation and gossip about a party they never wanted.
