(Flashback continuation) I don’t know how to feel about what’s happening now. This is strange, but beautiful. I mean, it’s not everyday you get ask by two strangers to be a witness at their wedding, right? Two complete strangers, lovers who’s planning to runaway from their strict parents. Their book is so beautiful. Kathy’s comforting me about her idea of hopping in this van to go to a private resort outside of the city. They decided to do the wedding there since there’s a church nearby the property. All of them are in a deep sleep, except me and the driver of course. There are a lot of bags sitting on the van’s floor. Before renting a van, we went to this small shop that sell wedding dress. The dress Kathy and I picked is a nude pink one. I let Kathy have this one, she’s very happy about it. When we arrived at the resort, an old man and his wife greeted us. “Kyla, what a beautiful girl.” the old woman gave her a tight hug. “Lola, this are my friends.” She introduced as first to the both of them. The old lady gave us a tight, sweet hug while the old man settled with a hand shake. Lola’s are really the best. They deserve everything in this world. “What beautiful friends you have.” We mouthed thank you to the old lady. “How about him? Who is this handsome young man? Is he the one Armel is telling us about?” “Yes, lola.” She’s smiling from ear to ear. “We fixed everything, apo. If your dad find out about this and hurts you, you tell us, okay?” the old man said in full authority voice. “He’s not allowed to hurt our princess.” He chuckles. This is sweet. At least her grand parents is all in about this wedding plan. “How are you, young man?” He greeted Wes, they walked first. “Are you from the city too?” The old lady ask me. Kathy and Kyla are busy planning the after wedding event. “Yes, ma’am.” “Oh, please. Just call me Lola Armelita. You’re one of my apo’s now.” She chuckles. I blushed with what she said, that’s so sweet. I never met my grand parents on both side because they died when I was still a baby. There are a lot of great stories about them my dad told me. “Thank you, Lola Armelita.” “Do you have any job in the city?” Her wooden sandals are brushing the road, making a comfortable sound. I don’t know why I found it comfortable. “Yes, I am a writer. I work for ArticWork.” “What is that? Do you write stories, like those high school dramas?” I chuckle. “No, lola. I write stories but it’s more of a real life issues. Celebrity issues, reviews, and more.” “Oh! I know that one. I just don’t know how to word it.” She laughs. We stopped in front of a little house by the beach. “This is you girls room.” She opened the door to let us in. All of us go inside. It’s a huge room with only one huge bed. If you open the curtains, you will see the beautiful view of the waters. “Are you girls okay in one bed?” Lolo’s checking the room. He also slide the door that’s facing the view of the beach open. “Yes, it’s totally fine. Thank you so much.” Kathy’s now sitting, feeling the softness of the bed. “Get a good sleep now. Lola Armelita and I will talk to the priest for tomorrow.” Kyla gave us a kiss then whispers, “Thank you so much for this you guys. You don’t have any idea how happy I am right now.” She winks at us before they left the room. When I look at her, we’re both smiling at each other. “You finally realize how happy this is.” I forgot how good she is reading me. “Hey, I just thought that this is odd, they’re strangers.” She laughs, looking at me with her “why are you being defensive?” insult look. I hang our dresses using the bamboo hangers inside the closet then I took a quick shower. When I come out, I saw her looking outside. “It’s beautiful, right?” She flinched a little when I hug her from behind. I’m still wearing bathrobe. “It’s so nice to enjoy this view.” When she said that, I backed out and sat at the bed. She’s still looking outside. “South’s ugly when it comes to people but it got nice beaches.” I said, trying not to sound like I’m interrogating her. I see her hands moving uncomfortably, the kind of movement you do when you’re composing words. She’s taking too long to answer. “Well, I’m very busy. Never had the chance to enjoy the beaches.” I know she made that up. “Atleast once?” “Yeah, maybe once. I can’t remember.” She turn to me. “How about we try to get some sleep? I’m very tired.” She hopped on the bed facing the other side against me. I know she’s pretending to be asleep, she’s avoiding my questions. I took a deep breath before getting dressed. I tried to sleep but failed. All I can think of right now is finding out the reason why she lied that she’s from south and why is she avoiding my questions. Also, I’m thinking about Jax. He sent me a bunch of photos from the seminar. When I woke up in the morning, Kathy’s already in the shower. “Guys? Are you getting ready?” I heard Kyla’s voice so I open the door. “Good morning.” She handed me our breakfast. “You guys eat a lot, okay? Then you get dressed. Everything’s settled.” She’s very excited. Of course, she’s getting married. I can’t even see trace of worry in her face, maybe she’s not thinking about her strict politician father. “Of course. You go get dressed, thank you so much.” I sweet voiced to her. Her voice mouse squeaks in excitement before leaving. Yesterday, we’re just enjoying the view of the city with strangers in a room. Now? We’re at their wedding, the best day of their lives. I took a quick shower then we get dressed in the nude pink dress we bought yesterday. “Oh my god. We’re both so pretty.” She’s hugging me tight from the side while we’re facing the mirror. “Kyla’s the prettiest.” “You saw her?” “Yes, while you’re in the shower.” “That’s not fair.” I protest. “Let’s go.” She pulled me outside. “So you’ll see her.” She’s almost running, she’s very excited to and I’m just happy to see that. “Hello, mga dalaga.” Lolo greeted us with a very sweet smile. He looks so expensive with his tuxedo and hat. “You look expensive, lolo.” Kathy complimented him while I do it with a sweet, genuine smile and a nod. He put his hands over our shoulder, he’s in between us. “If you, dalagitas, will get married, you invite us.” “Of course, lolo. You will be one of the people standing infront.” I said. The set up is very simple. There’s a few chairs and a cute umbrella like set up infront of us. I can see people already in their seats. “I think they are the church people.” Kathy’s right, they are church people. We settled in our seats at the first row because Lola Armelita saved us the seats. The wedding started with Wes entrance. He looks very expensive with his new haircut. Lola Armelita said that the bride and groom are both wearing what Lolo and Lola Armelita wore the day they got married which is very sweet. Kyla enters, she’s very beautiful in her wedding dress. Both of them are in tears of pure joy and love. I think if it’ll not ruin her entrance, she will run to Wes. Everyone’s smiling the whole time. You can feel the love right where you’re sitting. The way they embrace each other’s eyes, the way he holds her hand, it’s all genuine and full of sincerity. They both want to be here. “… and I will hold you forever in my heart. To the day that I vanish into thin air, I will make sure that we find each other’s dust so that we can rest in eternal happiness.” Wes’ words made my heart flutter in happiness and amaze. He’s sincerely in love with her. “… I’m happy that we’re finally here. That we choose to go on despite of the obstacles we faced. I will always be your moon, Wes. The one you’ll embrace its light and beauty, and I will always shine to vanish the void of space and make you see the beauty of this world.” So this is love. The wedding ended in picture taking, we took our pictures with them too. I can clearly see that Lola Armelita is very happy to the point that she cried the whole time while they’re saying their vows. I pulled Kathy and positioned her at the umbrella. “Give me a beautiful smile.” I didn’t waste any time and took a bunch of photos with her. She’s eating a lot at the reception, enjoying the chocolate fountain. I let her talk to people while I peacefully eat. I’m scrolling through my phone when one or her photos captured my attention. She looks so beautiful. I want to remember this photo forever, until the day I vanish into thin air and even when I find her dust and we settle into our eternal happiness. ———— “Aw, you get to be a part of someone’s wedding. I want that.” She’s very invested with the story. Jax fell asleep. I left out the part of the story where Kathy and I express our intimate feelings with each other. Talking about Kathy made me feel less scared of Denise. Not because something about Kathy makes me feel less scared of the monster beside me, but because when I talk about her, I enter another reality where I get to be with her. And I will never feel the same for Denise.
