Chapter 42 Hostile
♫ Drew ♫
Almost all of us are tipsy as we’ve already emptied four bottles of vodka. But I’m amazed at how Leslie can handle her alcohol. She can easily stay up with us.
Both Kellen and Anne are already drunk, while she’s still alive and kicking. We all looked a bit wasted and our words are already slurred.
After a while of drinking, Leslie stood up when her phone rang and I saw how she wobbled as she walks out of the studio so I followed her. I let her go out, while I stopped by the doorstep.
I don’t know who called and I don’t plan to listen too. I followed her just to make sure she won’t trip or fall.
When she was on her way back, I stood up straight. At first, she didn't notice me leaning on the door at first but she immediately glared at me when she did.
“Excuse me,” she said as she bow her head.
“You should rest, you’re drunk,” I whispered as I hold her arm.
Again, she just glared at me before looking at the hand that was holding her. This happened twice and both times, I felt like I’d been burnt.
Just like the first time, I let her go but this time, I didn’t budge and stood my ground. “Excuse me,” she said again and when I didn’t move, she looked up to face me and gave me a death glare.
“Leslie, you should rest,” I told her again but then she pushed me to the side before walking past me. ‘She's supposed to be drunk. How can she just push me like that?’
Although irritated, I followed her back in and plopped on the couch, next to Anne. She might have noticed me and quickly snaked her arm to my waist.
Anne's supposed to be my flavor of the week. I don’t know what happened and how we lasted for more than three weeks now. Maybe because I’m enjoying her company?
But even if she’s here, my attention’s focused on Leslie. She's acting a bit off since she got here. Aside from ignoring me which isn't new, she’s been a bit snobbish since earlier.
She only loosened up a bit when we started drinking, but when it comes to me, her brow’s always raised. She won't even look at me when I talk. It’s as if I got some contagious disease that can infect her just by looking at me.
I sort of understand why she's acting like this towards me though. I was indeed rude the last time we talked, so I can’t really blame anyone but myself.
Then again, I have no choice. I feel like if I act naturally while apologizing to her, I might end up admitting to my feelings.
The look in her eyes is still fresh in my mind. I feel like I was being sucked in when we were staring at each other. I don’t even want to move away from her, especially when our foreheads touched, but I had to.
I have to distance myself from her because I know in the end, I’m the only one who’ll get hurt. I'm sure she won't accept me, especially if my cousins carried on with their plans.
So even if it’s irritating that these assholes are so close to her, I can’t do anything. I can only let it go and ignore it.
Just like now. I’ve been wanting to kick Roj as he’s lying on the floor with his head resting on Leslie’s leg. But I can only glare at him and hope that he’d get the signal.
“Lem, can you sing?” he even asked. I wanted to make him eat a bottle but they’d probably be confused and asked why I did that.
“What song?” she replied and my irritation heighten. ‘She should learn how to refuse!’
“Do you know the song I Miss You? Incubus?” Roj asked and Leslie was quick to nod, then she started singing.
"To see you when I wake up, is a gift I didn't think could be real," Leslie sang.
I can’t help but smile when I heard her singing one of my favorite songs. So even if it’s annoying that she’s singing it for Roj, I still enjoyed listening to it.
Unfortunately, someone disrupted her beautiful singing. Anne butted in but she didn’t sing. Instead, she started calling crows. Yes, she threw up.
♫ Kevz ♫
Well, that sucks!
We were having a good time listening to Lemon singing when someone suddenly growled. We all turned to look at the culprit but we almost threw up too when we saw what she was doing.
What’s worse is that she threw up on Drew’s lap and I saw my friend’s expression change from shock to anger. I don’t know if she’s angry that Anne threw up on him or because Lemon’s singing was interrupted.
We had to call Lyra to help us clean up. And after that, we decided to stop drinking too and went upstairs instead. We even helped Drew carry Anne upstairs and into the room.
They occupied the bunk bed in one room. Drew said they’ll stay on the bottom bunk it’s wider and can accommodate both of them. If I know, they’ll just do something awful again.
And with that thought, I decided to occupy the top bunk so I can watch over them. Lemon and Kellen got the twin bed in the same room.
In the other room, which is smaller, Roj, Kip, and Homme stayed. When I was about to lay down, I noticed that Lemon was not in the room yet.
I went down and out to the terrace and found her there. “You’re not going to sleep yet?” I asked when I approached her.
She shook her head as she pouts, “I’m not yet sleepy,” she said, followed by a yawn and we both ended up laughing.
“That’s ok, just go to sleep and make sure you’re facing Kellen so you won’t see them,” I teased.
She leaned her head sidewards, thinking about what my words meant, and when she realized it, she hit me on the arm. “You’re crazy!” she spat and started laughing again.
“Are you sure you’re not sleeping yet?” I asked and again, she nodded. “Ok then, I’ll go get in, I’m sleepy,” then I hugged her before turning my back.
Before I get into the room, I decided to go downstairs to grab a glass of water. On my way up, my phone that is on the coffee table lit up.
I picked it up and saw a couple of messages there. Some are from some random girls but an unregistered number called my attention.
+63939*******: Pls take care of Leslie
My forehead creased automatically after reading the message. ‘Who’s this?’ I’m not familiar with the number and I’m sure this isn’t from my friends as all their numbers are saved on my phone.
I sat on the couch and placed the glass on the table. Leaning back, I keep thinking about who sent the message until I fell asleep.
Unsure how long it’s been, but I woke up to someone yelling upstairs. I checked my phone and it was only past 9 in the morning.
I run upstairs to see what is happening. And when I looked inside the room, I immediately saw Anne’s red face. She’s burning in anger.
“Answer me, Drew! Why are you there?!” she yelled, gritting her teeth in anger. Drew, on the other hand, had his head bowed down while seated next to Leslie, who was still sleeping.
‘Hold up, why is he there?’
My forehead wrinkled as I try to recall what happened last night. Before I go out to the terrace, Kellen is already sleeping on that bed, while Drew and Anne are both lying on the bottom bunk.
Now, Kellen is no longer on the twin bed and it’s now Lemon who’s sleeping in her place. And Drew is sitting on the edge of the bed.
As Anne continued yelling, I noticed that Homme, Roj, and Kip are now standing by the door too, peeking inside. “Why are you so loud this early in the morning?” Roj asked.
“Fuck it, Drew! Are we going to start guessing how you ended up there?” she yelled again and it’s already irritating my ears.
Lemon moved a bit but she was still asleep. I wanted to laugh because, in the middle of the chaos, she still hasn’t woken up.
Anne continued yelling with no care in the world until Lemon eventually woke up. The four of us stayed at the door as if watching a scene from the movie. Not one of us dared to speak.
Lemon sat up as she rub her eyes. She was shocked when she saw Drew sitting close to her and Anne standing next to the bed, with her hands on her waist, all red and infuriated.
She then looked at us confused as if waiting for us to tell her what was going on. “What happened?” she asked in her sexy bedroom voice when no one still spoke.
“You, what is your problem and why did you sleep with my boyfriend?” Anne yelled at her.
I felt Kip move from behind me, so I stopped him. If I wasn’t quick enough, he would have strangled Anne for shouting at his cousin.
“Why are you whining so early in the morning?” Lemon smirked at the girl before turning to Drew. “And you, why are you here on our bed?”
Anne clicked her tongue then she smiled mockingly, “Are we trying to play dumb here? Stop pretending like you don’t know anything. You two slept together! You were even hugging each other to think that I’m just on the other bed!” she ranted.
“What is going on?”Kellen asked from somewhere.
We all turned to look at her, “Sshhh!” and she pushed us aside to get inside.
“I slept next to Drew?” Lemon asked Anne with her brow raised. She then paused for a while as if trying to remember things. “So what’s the problem now if we slept next to each other?” she asked in a sarcastic tone.
Anne’s eyes widen in shock. She tried reaching out for Lemon but Drew was quick enough to stop her. Lemon, on the other hand, gets off the bed to face Anne.
“Stop yelling, your voice is giving me a headache,” Lemon told her. “Besides, you’re the one who’s crashing in our studio, so stop being a drama queen and making a scene!” she told the girl as she pokes her shoulder with a finger.
“Wow! You’re really thick! You flirted with my boyfriend and now you have the guts to tell me that?” Anne spat back. She raised a hand at Lemon to slap
Lemon though was quick to catch her arm. She pulled Anne closer and I can see the fear on her face as Lemon stared at her.
“I never flirted with your boyfriend because FYI, I’m not interested in him,” she said with conviction before pushing Anne toward Drew.
I wanted to do a slow clap after what she did but when I looked at Drew, my mind changed. I saw a glint of pain in his eyes.
‘Was that true? She’s really not interested in him? Well, not impossible though since the last time we talked, she’s only crushing on him.’
But it's a different case for Drew. Even if he won’t admit it, I know that it’s more than crushing. He loves her that’s why he’s hurt by what she said.
We followed Lemon downstairs and saw her sitting on the couch. “I want fried rice,” she told us as soon as we went down.
Homme and Roj burst into laughter, while Kip shook his head at his cousin. I sat next to her and pulled her close to me.
“Partner, that’s some Oscar’s worthy line you said up there,” but she just laughed at me.
“I’m hungry,” she stated as she squeezed in close to me.
I laughed as she’s like a cat. If Drew can see this, I’ll probably be dead by now.Download Novelah App
