Chapter 27 The Writer

The next day, Jirah’s set-up was still the same. assistant in the morning and an actress in the evening. She became accustomed to synchronizing her career and work. Although she was struggling, she strived hard to fulfill her responsibilities in the hope of raising the family's status. Terrence also found out what the woman was up to every night, so from time to time he dismissed the woman from work early.
However, one day, Aaliyah knew everything about Jirah's new career. That was why she sabotaged one of the writers of Jirah's upcoming movies. On the same day, Terrence also got news about Jirah's wrongdoings from the past few days. The 8-year-old child of his maid saw everything on the day Aaliyah and Jirah made a scandalous act in the restaurant.
The issue was delivered to the man secretly. As a result, his relationship with the woman became unclear again.
At the office, before the woman left the place, Terrence confronted her for a while.
"Jirah, when are you going to learn to be patient in front of the public? Have you ever been arrogant because you're already an actress, so you've hit a popular actress?"
"What? Whoaa... Let me guess. Did Aaliyah tell you what I did to her? She's unfortunate, she didn't seem to have a good ally and she even approached a useless person like you."
To the great annoyance of the actor, he broke the empty cup. He slammed it down on the table since he couldn't think of anything more to say, so he vented his rage on it. The woman was stabbed in the flesh because she was standing close to the coffee. It was still very hot, so her skin was burnt.
Instead of scolding the man, the girl calmed down and said, "It's true. You can't be a good adviser because you're cold-hearted. Do you think I've forgotten your fault with me as you disguised as a stranger at the mall when I am burst into anger a few times? What now? Are you angry? Terrence, no matter how many times you hurt my feelings, I was still touched and felt it here in my heart. It was when you saved me from slipping on the floor in that mall," she tearfully said.
"I've liked you since then, even though I hadn't seen your face. That's why I'm aggressively looking for a clue to find you. I had also seen many hints of you since I met you at work. So, I am just waiting for you to admit the things you did to me. And now, it looked like I made a mistake in admiring you," Jirah added.
She left a final tear before she walked out the door. Before she was allowed to leave, the man ordered something first.
"Jirah, wait," the man said once, clutching her arm.
"Don't forget our flight tomorrow at seven in the morning. I'll be waiting for you," the man added.
Jirah gave her employer a quick glance before leaving to head to their taping location. A writer approached her and gave her the script when seeing her. To her surprise, almost all of her memorized lines in the script that had been given to her had been. She asked the female writer why that was, but she replied that it was the director's suggestion.
When a staff member called her from her tent, she nervously came out because she hadn’t memorized the lines yet. During the action scenes, she had nothing to do but try to follow what the other person said.
"Cut," the director moved his arm, pointing to the woman. He seemed to be mad intensely.
"Jirah, what was that? You looked like you hadn't memorized your line? Take a good look at your script first. I'll give you a one minute break to master it. My goodness," said the director.
Jirah's heartbeat increased as a minute passed by on her. Who can master that kind of script? Her lines were almost in two stanzas. She just needed more time to master it, though.
As time went by, Jirah was scolded again for her unmastered sentences. They attempted a lot of shots since Jirah committed a bunch of mistakes. Within that scenario, the director raised his voice to chastise her and her coworkers, disgusted with her.
"What is it, Jirah? Fix your lines. Look, the time is ten o'clock. Oh, we still haven't progressed to the next scene. If you don't memorize all the words in the sentences, just familiarize yourself with the storyline. So you can stand it," said an actor, annoyed with the woman.
"All right, "Jirah replied in a low voice.
What she did was she simply memorized the relevant keywords. As a result, her ad libs were well received. She was nervous initially, because it was a bit awkward for other artists that she was the cause of many errors, but she was even better at dramatizing his character.
During their break-time, Jirah preferred to stay in the tree near their tent, because she studied her next lines. She had a lot of exposure in that episode, so the lines were particularly agonizing for her. She wanted to memorize the script in a quiet place so as not to be reprimanded on set again.
Coincidentally, that was where the writer went. Jirah heard the woman talking on the phone. Her reading was interrupted when the girl uttered the name Aaliyah.
"All right, Ms. Aaliyah, I'll just send you my bank account number. Thank you."
That was all Jirah heard from the writer’s mouth. Although it hurt her to think that she had been rebuked for Aaliyah's plot, she remained steadfast and stood firm in the face of any trial.
Subsequent scenes were successfully completed by Jirah, who no longer heated the head of the director and her colleagues. Even though her sweat was dripping from the action scenes, she endured it all because it was not tiredness and sleeplessness that would weaken her, but her family's famine.
Jirah's muscles were already tired after the third scene. She glanced at her watch and saw that it was already 5 o'clock in the morning. She remembered earlier that her boss's flight to China for a brand's fashion show was set to leave at 7:00 a.m. So, she asked their time-keeper an important question.
"Ah... sir, what time will the taping end?"
The man turned around and replied, "As far as I know, we can take a long time now because there will be another episode needed to finish because there is no taping tomorrow. Didn't Sammy tell you?"
Sammy, the writer, was paid by Aaliyah, to give Jirah trouble. The time keeper instructed that writer to inform the artists in advance that at 6 o'clock they would end the taping. But, even though it was urgent, Jirah was deliberately not told so that she would look like a fool waiting to see what time she would go home. And the worst was, Jirah had an important walk at seven o'clock.
Jirah just shook her head at the time-keeper and went back to her seat. Later, the make-up artist called her to fix her face-make up fitted to her role. She could no longer relax while staring at her watch every minute.
It was 6:10 a. m. Jirah was in a hurry to take the bus to their house. She had not yet brought the necessities of the trip such as clothes, shoes, emergency kits and other things that can be carried. The text messages she received from her boss and Mangxie were also intermittent, but she could not answer any of them.
Terrence had counted missed calls, but Jirah was still taking a taxi to the airport. The manager of the actor hurried him to go to the waiting area, so he just followed. It was 6:30 a.m. but Jirah was still in the middle of traffic. To add to her upsetting instances, the person who crashed into the taxi she was in was seen by her. That was why the driver asked her to help him and go to the station.
But, she did not agree to witness the incident and instead she answered the actor's call.
"Where are you, woman? I have told you to be here at the airport at 6:30 a. m., but it is now 6:45. The plane is getting on board and you haven't arrived yet?" The man yelled at her.
