"Yah, Lia!" exclaimed someone behind me. When I turned around to see who it was, I noticed Hunter approaching me with his trademark bad guy stance and posture. His hands were slipped into his uniform pants' pockets. I was mortified when I saw him again, his tongue probing his inner cheeks.
And, as is customary, a swarm of fangirls trailed him and his companions from behind. I'm not sure why they're dying for him. He's obnoxious and immature.
"Are you checking me out?" he asked while roll my eyes at his unexpected grin.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Hell no."
"Ow, just admit it, you like me, don't you?" I scoff, wondering how this man can be so sure of himself.
"I'd rather die than be liking you," I says. He theatrically covering his mouth and widening his eyes. "Why are you even here?" I scoffed again, clutching my books hard to keep myself from striking the person in front of me.
"I was only trying to get near you." I was startled by his sudden words before recovering and giving him my frigid stare and sarcastic laugh.
"You want to be close to me?" I laugh again, this time holding my stomach as I laugh more than I expected at his folly. "Keep dreaming," I murmured, trying not to smile. "Look at your fangirls and trouble one of them, not me." Trying is a hint word.
He smugly responded, "What if you're the one I want to bother?" I didn't say anything else and simply turned around, my hair in his face. "What the hell is that smell?!" he said, "Did you wash your hair this morning?"
"No, so don't bother me," I said as I walked away from them.
I yell and hurl the broom across the room. "ARRGGH!" Why does that scene keep replaying in my mind? That's nothing new; it's nothing new! I'm his opponent, and he's my enemy. We're rivals. Why should I have to fall in love with him? Why can't I forget about him even though it's been years?
There is a knock at the door. I went to the main door to open it. "For the time being, Shane, I don't want to talk about the reunion." I was wiping my sweat and closed my eyes to keep the sweat out of my eyes. When I opened my eyes, a pair of emerald eyes stared at me intently. Hunter.
So, what's next? Do I have to assume I'm doomed since I mentioned the reunion?
"You're living here?" He inquires, his face befuddled and shocked at the same moment, but he must quickly recover.
"What do you think?" I ask, tilting my head to see whether anyone else is in the house. "I'm alone, living here," I sighed. "What do you want?" I asked, trying to be polite. Recall the word 'trying.'
He answered, "I'm here to speak with the previous family who lived here." I shouldn't have to worry because he appeared unconcerned with what I just stated, right?
"Ow, wait here while I call Mr. Daniel," I said as I approached the center table. While walking back to the door, I typed on my phone.
"Aren't you going to let me in or something?" I muttered, glaring at him.
I sneer, "Do I know you to let you in?" Serve him right! I scoffed because he seemed surprised. I dial Mr. Daniel's number and hold the phone close to my ear, waiting for him to call. Right now, he's in his apartment, and we're both waiting for the paper since we have a lot of work to do around the house and property.
"Yes, Lia?" When did I press the loudspeaker? I shudder.
