CADE WAS out on the patio puffing a cigarette, feeling so content with his life. Honestly, there was nothing more he could wish for. He leaned back on the chair with a smile on his lips.
In the past three months, many things had changed in his life. He had remarried Yumika in a garden wedding. They recited new vows this time with so much love and affection for each other. It was an intimate wedding, too. Only their family and closest relatives were invited to the wedding. There was also another exclusive celebration party, and everyone in the company was invited. Cade made sure that everyone knew he loved his wife very much. He never left her side and kissed her whenever he got the chance. Even if there were people watching what he was doing.
She was shy, but Yumika didn’t resist. Other than the fact that he was enjoying her getting all flustered, he was trying to make sure that everyone got the message that Yumika was not someone to be messed with. Otherwise, he would be the one everyone would have to deal with.
Things were also going smoothly with his wife’s family business. His wife continued managing both Coffee n’ Books and Mountain Inn, with the latter slowly gaining popularity among tourists. His parents-in-law were also gradually paying off their debts. And even though a medical team was still taking care of his mother-in-law, she was slowly recovering.
“Hey.” Yumika stepped out wearing her button-down shirt. Three buttons were unfastened, giving him a clear view of her tempting cleavage.
Damn. This woman would be the death of him. He had just made love to her minutes ago, and here he was, ready for another round as he felt himself hardening again at just the mere sight of her.
She sat on his lap and scrunched her nose at the sight of the cigarette in his hand, although it smelled sweet with a hint of vanilla and chocolate because he was using a luxury brand. She probably just wasn’t used to seeing him smoke.
“Are you nervous about the international business conference tomorrow? You only smoke when you’re anxious.” She said this as she placed the cigarette in the ashtray beside him and put it out.
He smiled. She knew him too well. He remembered the first time she saw him smoking at the after-party of his sister’s company grand relaunch. He told her the truth that at that time he didn’t know how to tell her about her family’s dilemma. It was that very day that he learned about her family’s huge debt to his family.
“It would be my first time. I don’t know if I’d do well,” he answered her question.
“You’ll do great. Trust me.” She leaned down and kissed him. He tried to nibble her lower lip, but she pulled back. She was teasing him. He growled in response. His other hand went up and started unfastening the remaining buttons on her shirt.
“Wait, Cade—” She didn’t finish her sentence because he claimed her lips again. She laughed as she tried to pull away.
He pulled her closer. “No, we don’t have to stop, baby.” He murmured against her lips. He managed to unfasten two more buttons and gently cupped her breast while kissing her.
Yumika’s chuckle turned into a moan. But it was brief because she spoke again. “Cade, I have something to give you.”
“I think it can wait,” he tried to convince her, as his kisses moved to her neck.
“No, this is important,” she insisted, making him pause for a moment.
“Okay, okay.” He surrendered with an amused laugh, wrapping Mika’s shirt close but not bothering to fasten the buttons. A smile appeared on his wife’s lips as she picked something from the center table, which he hadn’t noticed it had been placed there when she passed by earlier. She handed him a rectangular box.
He chuckled. “Is this a watch?”
She smiled sheepishly. “Hmm, maybe.”
He took it from her and opened the small box. Inside was a pregnancy test—with two visible pink lines. He looked at his wife, lips slightly parted. “Is this what I think it is?” he asked once he had collected himself.
Her smile widened as she kissed him again. “I’m three months pregnant, Cade,” she told him.
He swore under his breath and immediately tossed the cigarette box aside. Yumika laughed at his reaction. “I won’t smoke anymore, love,” he said, gently resting her hand on her flat belly. Gratefulness and love swelled in his heart. His loving wife was carrying his child. Their child. He felt an overwhelming joy he had never known before.
“What do you want? A girl or a boy?” she asked.
“I can’t decide. But hopefully, twins,” he said, which made Yumika laugh. He automatically smiled at the sound of her laughter. He loved the sound of her laughter. And more importantly, he loved the sounds she made whenever he made love to her.
“Really, Cade? We just finished,” she said, surprised as she felt his arousal.
“It’s already been hard since you came here a few moments ago,” he replied, a teasing smile on his lips.
She playfully smacked him on the chest, a grin on her beautiful face. “You’re naughty.”
He kissed her hard before speaking. “That’s because I can’t get enough of you.” He stood up, carrying her, his hands supporting her bottoms. She automatically wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck.
“Hmm, I can’t wait to find out how you’ll make me scream your name this time,” she whispered.
He grinned widely. “Oh, trust me, my love. I have plenty of ways up my sleeves.”
