The Lycan (part-one)

Kaya’s POV
I was stuck, frozen in one position. My hands shaking, w-what just happened? My heart was beating fast and I could hear people groaning talking about the mini earthquake that just had happened.
I felt my fingers quake as I pulled my bag walking out of the library like a robot failing to process what happened, along with all the other students who did not want to be in the building after the earthquake.
We will talk about this later tonight.
Did he just agree? He did, he really did. He agreed it all in that one second, everything that we ever did was real, and those eyes that swirled with different elements were real. I already knew all this but why did I still feel so shocked at his confirmation? Why was my body shaking and my heart beating like it was running a marathon, why was I losing my breath and feeling as if I was falling apart?
I tried to take in short breaths to stop my panic. I wanted to talk to someone, not just anyone. Ally, only she could get me through this panic attack.
But she wasn't here, she had to leave early.
Screw that I needed to talk to her. Someone who would just tell me all this was crazy. Just all in my mind and that I was crazy, yeah I was crazy, right? The boy did not just get the very earth to quake like that?! That was impossible.
With shaky hands, I pulled my phone out of my back pocket dialing Tink's number. It didn't take thirty seconds before she picked it up, "Hey Kaya, oh my god, are you alright? There was an earthquake I was about to call you? Are you still waiting for Az-"
"He admitted it! He admitted to everything! He created that earthquake Tink! Then the books started shaking! The shelves we're moving! He was angry for some reason! I was scared really scared but he was...and then he somehow managed to delete the evidence, I don't know how he tempered with it, it was not real, I don't know what happened, I think it-"
"Stop!" Ally shouted into my ear causing me to hold taking fast breaths in and out.
"Things are crazy, Tink, just too crazy!" I grumbled pacing around.
"Breathe Kaya, just take a breath," She eased making me take full deep breaths to ease myself. I did so appreciating her efforts.
"Now talk. Slowly- what do you mean he was the one who created the earthquake?"
I breathed out listening to her every word and I slowly began to explain to her that happened,
"Honestly, I thought I was crazy- I didn't think he would show up, but he did. He did show up, he denied it at first and then messed with the footage. Well, I think he did, then the whole library thing..." I trailed off feeling overwhelmed as I paced around, "tell me this is crazy Tink,” I sighed staring up at the blue sky, “just tell me this is all in my head.”
There was a slight pause before she replied, "I wish I could tell you what you want to hear, Kaya, but you and I both know I would be lying."
I groaned at this, a hand on my forehead- "I don't understand this, Tink I-"
"He said he would explain tonight right? So he will just---wait hold on, -- yes Mom! I’m talking to her, and she’s alright- yeah- okay- I'm coming!" She yelled through the phone, she sighed coming back to me, "Look Kaya, how about I come over tonight, I'll make up some lie, and then we can interrogate him together you know, good cop bad cop style?" She asked, "at least with me there he won’t get away with it a second time-me being the bad cop, plus I have a lot of questions I want to be answered, after yours of course,” she added.
I chuckled at this.
Maybe it would be better if she were around. After all, it was Ally who first came up with this theory, she deserves answers more than anyone, "yeah, sure....I’ll need the company anyway-" I said kicking a pebble away, already feeling calmer just talking to her.
She hummed, "alright, I'll ask my mom and you should call your aunt, ask her and also see if she’s okay- where are you by the way?"
"I'm at the bus stop,” I grumbled spotting the bus coming my way from down the street, “I’m going to the basketball court, downtown."
"Basketball court? This time? It's almost 6, Goldie.”
"Yeah, I know,” I replied checking my watch, “but Legion asked me to meet him there, apparently he wants to show me something, and my curfews not until 10:30 so...” I trailed off allowing her to fill in the gap.
"I don’t like the sound of that, but alright, you're a big girl but be careful, I still don't trust that boy, any of them really," she muttered.
I nodded as if she could see me, sighing softly, "I'll be fine, and I’ll see you probably when I get home yeah?"
"Yeah, I'll be there, don't take too long with Mr. Jerk face."
I grinned as we said our goodbyes hopping onto the bus that had just arrived.
************************
Forty minutes. I had been waiting forty long minutes for Legion to show up and he wasn't here. I was sitting on the bench, the bench I had first seen him when he snatched the phone out of my hands and made a run for it.
Boys. He had to do that just to get my attention. Although a smile traced my lips at the thought of his boyish ways- I still hated that day. Honestly speaking, it seemed it was the day fate decided to bring two stupid boys into my life. One that had decided to make it his mission to sneak into my room every night and the other who seemed to have made it his goal to keep me waiting here like a homeless loser watching the sunset.
I checked the time on my watch impatiently tapping my knee as I looked both directions for a figure that would be similar to that of Legions but there wasn't anyone except the few boys shooting hoops and even they seemed to be preparing to leave soon. I sighed at this, leaning back on the bench, glancing both ways to see if I could spot him. The sun was just about setting.
I should have never given this boy a second chance, he says he wants to see me then goes ahead to stand me up! I swear I would castrate him the moment I saw him.
I would have given him a call but surprise, surprise, I didn't have the number for that jerk. Actually, my contact list was quite small. Goals of an introvert really, though I don't really consider myself that introverted.
Or maybe I was more than I thought I was?
Listen to me think.
I already feel crazy. Better crazy than think about what happened earlier.
I closed my eyes shaking my head, nope I wouldn't think about Azian now, nope, I can confuse myself later tonight with Ally when he finally comes clean and says it all.
My eyebrows hunched again searching for Legion. Where was that jerk?! Didn't he say we should meet in the first place we had ever met?
I paused, thinking about it slowly, a wrinkle on my forehead.
The first place we met!
It wasn't technically on this bench, nope. I groaned picking up my bag adjusting the jumper I had tied around my waist as I prepared the long walk back into town.
I trudged along the streets as the sun finally found its peace and the street lights came on gripping my bag tightly as I wandered through the streets. This path was definitely longer than I remembered, probably it was because then, I didn't really care about anything other than getting back my phone, and of course I was running like crazy, adrenaline pumping through my veins.
But now, just walking felt like forever as I retraced my steps back to the alley I had first officially seen Legion. It wasn't my best idea, chasing a thief into a dark alley defenseless, kind of like now, only it was more reckless, it was now dark and the only lights were by the street corner.
Few people were walking on the sidewalks and cars zoomed past uncaring. I paused under the streetlight peering into the dark shadows of the alley wondering how wise it would be for a girl to just walk there. I glanced back around taking a deep breath in.
Maybe Legion thought we would meet here by the corner? He seriously didn't expect me to go into that dark alley again especially after sunset. Did he?
I bit my lip glancing around before starting back at the dark alley, nope I’ll just wait here for a while I decided.
20 minutes later and no sign of Legion! Maybe he is in there just waiting for me? A voice inside my head was nagging me to go there, making me peer again at the dark ally.
Honestly, it looked lifeless. I didn't know what sort of intuition I had. After contemplating for a while I decided to take a risk.
Stupid I know...The things I do for Legion.
Whatever he needed to tell me must be worth it, I thought to myself as I took a bold step into the alley.
.Okay so I’m still alive, not dead, not robbed, and not raped.
We are good to go.
I took a few more steps, being very careful not to step on the broken glasses littered on the street floor, trying hard to see past the darkness walking farther and farther till I saw him.
He was here all this while! Stupid boy.
"Legion!" I called out to the figure feeling very relieved, I did not like the feel of this alley at all.
I blinked twice, trying to adjust my gaze, frowning when the figure turned to two figures, then three. Something was wrong. Something was deadly wrong. I froze in my footsteps as I began to see my error.
That definitely was not Legion.
The three guys who started to look more like men moved closer, the smell of alcohol in the air and smoke,
Thick smoke.
One had a cigarette plopped into his mouth. He was shorter than the other two but seemed to be just as scary. The one in the middle was the tallest, but lean, and the one in the far end was the buffer and ultimately uglier, he had a beer bottle in his hand, "are you lost, princess?" He sneered with an ugly grin.
I gulped taking a step back, "no, hmm. I just took a wrong turn-" my voice was high pitched revealing I was scared out of my mind. I know these types of men, not having met them before, I had watched my fair share of movies and I was not ready to face them, but as I turned just about to run I bumped into someone landing flat on my butt, dazed out of my mind.
The fourth goon.
He was much like the beer-carrying dude, they looked very similar, must have been related. I felt myself crawling back as he took steps toward me, "p-please, let me go, I didn't mean to" I bumped into the wall, completely surrounded.
Rough hands pulled me up to my feet, grabbing me up by my shirt, my feet dangling in the air, a few feet of the ground, and the guy with a cigarette grabbed my back away from me.
I couldn't breathe at the moment.
This was it, how I died.
He threw my bag to the ground hovering over me as he blew smoke into my face causing me to cough, his rough hands were pinned to the wall above me caging me in. He dropped the cigarette squashing it with his large foot.
I should scream. Now was the time to yell.
As if he could read my mind his heavy hand suddenly clamped down on my mouth and my eyes widened as I tried to scratch him away but failed miserably, I was puny compared to this man, compared to all these men.
"Agh, such a beauty, don't you think so boys?" He asked, his accent was heavy, sounding somewhat Australian. All the men snickered in agreement as he suddenly grabbed my hair making me jolt back in pain, "we're going to have fun with this one fella"
I felt the tears threaten to spill, this is NOT how I go down. I whispered to myself, THIS IS NOT HOW I GO DOWN.
Hope. Wherever you are, please find me.
I shut my eyes feeling his hot breath getting nearer, trying my best to squirm out of his grip but being totally useless. I had never felt so useless. I had never felt so weak and so helpless. I reached down into my soul, crying out. Tears streaming down my cheek in currents.
Then I felt it.
A force so strong the man was flung off me and went crashing into the wall and I fell to the ground, sitting there against the wall, my eyes wide, as I tried to get up knowing sitting down was not an option here, my balance lost and wobbly my heart thumping like crazy trying to figure out what was going on, but I could hardly see until my tears cleared.
"Legion!" I gasped half relieved half angry half still scared shitless.
There stood Legion.
But I slowly realized something was off.
This wasn't Legion, not the one I knew. He looked like something I had never seen before, so angry. I mean legion was always angry but he looked straight up demonic, his muscles seemed to be more defined and he was looking at me like he was trying to stop himself from doing something then-he suddenly howled tumbling over in pain.
Blood.
Blood was all I saw, gushing out of his abdomen, and the other end of a long knife jutting out from the side of his stomach and I screamed, tears filling my eyes.
Beer goon had stabbed him!
"Legion!" I yelled moving toward him, but he stumbled away from me, and then something happened.
