A Lycans mate (part-two)
KAYA'S POV
He stopped at that moment looking up at me, his fingers brushed my hair out of the way, his body a hairs breath away from mine, his eyes glazed over darkly, "you are, you're mine".
I couldn't hold in the supposed breath that escaped as I looked down at him unable to believe all this.
“Do you know what the word means Kaya?” he asked softly his eyes focused on me, "not mate. Estheraï, estheraï" he repeated, whispering it against my ear as he held me close to him.
The word he always called me. It was beautiful the way it rolled off his tongue, I had always wondered what it had meant.
He took my silence for a no, "it cannot be defined, and it’s a word whose meaning can only be spoken in phrases and not in one sentence.” He breathed as I turned to face him, our faces inches apart, as he moved closer with each phrase, “Another half, a whole world, the essence of my existence, beautifully bewitching. Mine," he pulled me in harshly and I was sure were going to kiss before the door suddenly opened.
Ally stood before us mouth open, "hmm. I-I" she trailed off at a loss for words.
I breathed out harshly moving slowly away from Legion but failing to go further when he only tightened his grip around me, as she said, "uhmm, t-there’s…uhmm, yeah there's uh-someone downstairs who claims to be Legions father.."
My eyebrows furrowed turning to Legion who took a deep breath in before sighing, he gritted his teeth his arms tightening around me, and he kissed the side of my head, my father’s going to drive me insane-” he whispered in my ear
"Is he....like you?" I asked softly. He nodded in response, "yes, but, better and stronger," he finished with a small smile and I got stuck in those stormy eyes.
"Uh, guys?" Ally asked probably uncomfortable, "if we don't go down Kaya, Your Aunts coming up and I don't think she will..." She trailed off clearing her throat.
Both Legion and I chuckled unexpectedly, Legion standing up, out of bed much to Ally’s surprised, her mouth wide opened...
"He’s got accelerated healing!" She gasped probably fascinated, "I mean I thought he would heal quicker than this but...”
Legion shook his head muffling a chuckle giving me a hand up. I took it gratefully bouncing on the covers before finally reaching the floor.
We followed Ally downstairs, I was watching Legion attentively to see if there was any pain while he walked just in case. I didn't know why I was being paranoid but he seemed very okay as we walked down the stairs.
The first thing I saw was Aunt Lily, then another Familiar face, Caleb. Then another more unfamiliar man. He was older than Caleb with white streaks running through his dark locks. But he was aging gracefully.
I couldn't understand how possible it was to look good like that but still bring out the fact that you had lived life.
Aunt Lily’s mouth hang open when she saw Legion join us unscathed and shirtless.
"Agh there he is" the man I presumed was Legion's father said as Legion approached him, and yet, his eyes weren't truly focused on his son. They were steadfast on me, studying me. Attentively, as Legion's handheld onto mine tighter.
Caleb threw a white t-shirt toward Legion and he caught it gracefully, "thank you,” he replied slipping into it.
"How bad was it boy?" Legions father asked him.
"A piece of iron," he replied sighing as if he knew what his father would say next.
"Dirty bastards,” he muttered in reply, "I thought I taught you when you were younger to look both ways, disarm before you harm-"
Legion nodded with a slight chuckle, "I was a little…distracted" he trailed off taking my hand in his once more after fitting a shirt on.
The room became silent after this and I willed myself to look at Aunt Lily who was staring at where our hands were connected intently.
Legions Father smiled brightly, his eyes seemed to light up like stars, "is she the one, boy? It is her. It cannot be another," he concluded.
His voice was posh and old English type yet his face was younger and more modern. I couldn't understand it.
"Kaya, this is Father. Ki- Damian," Legion introduced clearing his throat.
Damian give his son a momentary look before approaching me, he gave me a polite and firm handshake and I returned it, "nice to meet you, sir,”
"Damian, please." he replied covering my small hand with his other large one patting it softly, he looked at me like I was a wonder, "you indeed are a gift" he replied.
I nodded not knowing whatever for, but I didn't need to do anything because my Aunt stole the show, “Now ya’ll got to wait a damn minute. Let me get this straight- what in the hell is going on?" She asked putting a frustrated hand on her hip.
And there she was. The Aunt I knew.
"Did you know your son-" she began trying to cool herself, “your son, is not who he says he is?" She asked giving him one of her looks, her hands moving along with her words.
"Lilian" Caleb cooed as if giving a warning.
Aunt Lily shook her head and I knew that she was going to spill the beans but I knew everyone else knew about who Legion was. I was sure even Caleb knew if he wasn't already one of them.
"That boy!” she began pointing at Legion, “Scared the hell out of us today!" She screeched.
"Lillian" Caleb tried again but this time it was Damian that stopped him, "let her speak Caleb, we have cost this woman much of an inconvenience."
"You damn right! The boy turns into a beast! I was about to be murdered in my own damn house! I don't know what y'all heard about black folks but ain't nobody died in the comfort of their own house. The streets usually get us first. And he-he just transformed into this huge beast. I can't even…" She trailed off as she noticed no one was acting surprised.
She looked at Caleb then at Damian then at Legion, then back to Caleb, "you, all the same, ain't ya? That's why you got him a white shirt because you knew, yeah-ya'll be turning every time the moons full huh? Running with the wild? Scaring folks?"
"That's for Werewolves, those that actually turn into wolves,” Damian grunted humor dancing in his eyes, but his tone patient nevertheless, “we are Lycans,” he said and I noticed Aunt Lily look at Caleb curiously realization taking hold of her features, “and that makes us admittedly stronger than mere werewolves, some more than others,” Damian began glancing at his son," and yes we do, all turn into...umm, Beasts.” He finished with a charming smirk, "I sensed something had gone wrong with my son so that is why I came, but we will be getting out of your hair now, malady" he finished with such a high air around him.
Aunt Lily was at a loss for words when Damian walked out the door, Caleb leaving behind him but not before giving her a gentle peck on the cheek.
Legion sighed turning back to me, he tilted my chin up, "I'll see you tomorrow Kaya, and I want you to rest. You have a lot to think about,” he said softly searching my eyes, “If it was up to me I will never leave-“
“But it ain't,” Aunt Lily commented folding her arms.
Legion nodded firmly, “yeah that-“ He turned to Aunt Lily, “I’m sorry for the inconvenience, umm, Lilian...” He trailed off before nodding at Ally.
He gave me one last look before walking out and I felt like I could finally breathe.
Aunt Lily looked at me and I shrugged, "uh huh-so you're dating Mr. Beast boy?" She asked cocking an eyebrow.
I felt cornered and suffocated, "and you're dating Mr. Beast MAN" Ally replied to her, referencing Caleb, with a chuckle saving me.
Aunt Lily paused at this. As if it had just crossed her mind. This was all too much for her that I knew. But if it were too much for her then what about me?
"He's my mate." I blurted out tasting the term on my lips.
Barely eighteen-year-old me.
Ally's eyes widened at this, "no-no-way" she replied stuck in her position.
"What the hell is a mate?" Aunt Lily asked glancing between us.
"A person who is uh-more like a soul mate,” Ally replied finally able to move toward me, "a-are you alright Kaya?" She asked, the look on her face dissolving into a worried one.
"I have a mate, Legion,” I breathed out shakily searching her eyes for some sort of explanation for all of this, “what am I supposed to do with a mate?" I asked her.
One who wasn't Azian... The thought echoed at the back of my mind.
"Soul mate?" Aunt Lily began she paused looking at Ally then at me, "baby girls, there's ain't no such thing. Cus if they were, me and Chris Hemsworth would have been married by now," she huffed mentioning her celebrity crush.
"Logically yes, humans do not have mates, but a select few given to those of the supernatural, Like Kaya do" Ally explained her eyes traveling to me.
"S-so what does this mean? Huh? This ain't a reboot of twilight, you better get that damn right. No eighteen-year-old daughter of my Lil cousin is getting married at this age-no sir, no babies either," Aunt Lily warned.
I closed my eyes at the sound of this.
Ally shook her head, "it doesn't mean that. Miss Lily, Kaya should think of him as a permanent boyfriend or something like that at least for now," she tried to explain.
"What the- you can't force someone to just have someone! Kaya doesn't have to do anything!"
"She doesn't have to. She needs to. The feeling of being near him will pull her close to him, it's falling in love, Miss Lily, and it’s a beautiful thing. It's not something forced. It will happen and in turn, will feel more free knowing that this is the ultimate love," Ally’s eyes were dreamy as she explained all this as if she had read about mates her whole life, I only read one chapter.
I knew what it meant roughly from the books and movies I had watched. The possessiveness that came along with it only felt like a cage to me though I hadn’t felt like that in Legion's arms.
"You should be happy for her Miss Lily, that boys going to love her like no one else. You won't have to worry about whether she's safe or not, or whether she's happy. His very mission in life is to achieve it,” she replied before folding her arms, “and he is a good catch, just look at him.” she added.
Aunt Lily seemed to be thinking it over for a second nodding her head before catching herself and shaking her head, "when you put it like that it sounds beautiful but I ain't making no decisions, not even you Kaya, so do not go near that boy. I’m calling your mother."
Both Ally and I looked up at her wide-eyed. She seriously wasn't going to tell my mother all the way in Tokyo! And would my mom even believe such a tale?
"You can't call mom!" I screeched.
"I very well can, you are her daughter and she deserves to know what's going on with you. Now Gabrielle may seem sweet and I may seem like the wild one but I know firsthand what happens when anyone messes with what she loves, especially you. I would rather tell her the truth lord spare my life, because if she finds out from anybody else-I'm screwed and then I’m dead," She said this walking up the stairs but not before reminding me to stay away from Legion.
I turned back to Ally, who tried to encourage me further to see the brighter side of it but it was just too overwhelming for me right now.
"I-I'm tired and I have to take a shower,” I told her glancing at my still bloody clothes. She pursed her lips before nodding following after me as we trudged upstairs.
She helped me change my sheets and clean the floors, and then left when I went to take a shower, something along the lines of watching a movie with Aunt Lily.
I didn't know how the hell they were calm after this. I was not okay and worse still something was nagging me at the back of my mind like I had forgotten something.
