Denial

Kaya’s POV
I slowly opened my eyes, trying in vain to adjust to the sunlight rays before giving up the fight and yawning. Curling up further into bed despite it being already morning I felt a strange feeling of warmth and satisfaction tickling my back like I had the best night sleep one could ever have. I opened my eyes at this thought wider as it settled on me why I was feeling like this. It was because I dreamt of him.  I shut my eyes furrowing back into the warmth trying to somehow clear my head but after another ten minutes of failed attempts, I decided to wake up.
Today felt like such a beautiful day and I didn’t want to waste it. I had awoken with a new appreciation of life in the rawest form, actually amazed I was blessed enough to breathe. Yes, I was extremely happy and light for some reason. My body felt as light as a feather and so-so relaxed. I breathed out, sitting up in bed stretching. My body felt like it had just gone through one of those expensive full-body massages.
My mind flipped back to the dream I had last night. Could that be the reason I felt so happy? Because I dreamt of him? I seemed to have already jumped to that conclusion and I didn’t think I was far from the truth. Giggling softly into my pillow and biting my lip as I remembered the feeling of having him close to me, near me. I was messed up in a lot of ways for feeling this way for my sister’s boyfriend, even if I hated my step sister’s guts, I considered myself a decent human and this was not what a decent human did.
Sighing, I felt for my slippers as I climbed out of bed going through my usual routine, brushing my hair and teeth, washing my face, and heading out downstairs. I fixed my gown as I bounced down the staircase spotting Aunt Lily busy making breakfast in the kitchen.
"Morning!" I grinned, widely cringing immediately at the amount of positivity I had thrust into that small world. It seemed I couldn’t even control my own feelings at the moment.
She smiled glancing my way whilst she scrambled the eggs, "funny,” she chuckled, shaking her head momentarily, “she wakes up early on Saturdays but not on school days,” she said as I kissed her cheek, before taking a seat by the kitchen island, watching as she finished the eggs placing a full plate of breakfast before me. I smiled at this, “thank you,” I hummed, breathing in the delicious smell of oily treats, “mm. smells so good Aunt, seems like you did it again,” I chuckled.
She shook her head in amusement at this comment, “I haven’t yet lost my touch, momma always used to say no one can crisp bacon like a black woman,” she added. I chuckled at this pulling the plate over to me, grabbing a fork.
"You look extremely refreshed today, " she began taking out a carton of milk from the fridge and a glass from the cupboard, "in fact I would say you're glowing, " she paused eyeing me square in the face, before placing the glass on the counter.
I blushed, looking down at my plate of food trying to gain the composure I needed, "I guessed I-uh-just slept well,” was my lame conclusion, then option to look at anything that wasn't her face.
Aunt Lily smiled, "or did you dream well?" She hummed, raising her eyebrows in the dirtiest manner, wiggling them about like a dang circus.
My eyes widened as she laughed. I swear my aunt was still a high school girl at times but her hand to butt whooping told me she was a grown-ass woman more than anything else.
She frowned suddenly as she shook the carton of milk, before giving me a scowl, disappointed eyes suddenly one me, "why would you put it back in the fridge when it's empty?" she asked, seemingly frustrated. If there was one thing my Aunt disliked was useless things in her fridge.
"What? Me?” I asked pointing at myself, “I didn't have any milk yesterday,” I replied my eyebrows furrowing, remembering quite well all the events that had happened yesterday.
She rolled her eyes, placing a hand on her waist, "you are seriously lying to me right now Kaya? You’re way too old to get away with stuff, okay, I mean the proofs right there,” she said pointing to two empty glass cups that sat on the counter a few paces from where I was seated.
My eyes widened at the sight of the two glasses, eyebrows furrowing as scenes flooded my mind. Scenes of Azian as he looked over at me from the other side of the counter, the glass in front of him at the exact same spot he had been. So was mine. My mouth dropped at this looking at the scene in disbelief
Wait...but that was a dream...A dream right? There was no way last night could have been real. I didn’t remember going back up to sleep and the balcony was closed when I woke up. But was it locked? It could only be locked from the inside so there was no way Azian could have locked it.
"It's not a crime to eat just be responsible afterward," My aunt reprimanded with a deep sigh before disposing of the empty carton of milk.
I started at the empty cups for a whole minute, barely able to feel my feet. My whole body became numb in a number of seconds, watching as she took the two glasses placing them in the dishwasher. It was only then I shook myself from my trance. Only to become lost once again as I stared blankly at my food. Getting up I took my breakfast with me, ignoring my aunt’s calls.
Like a robot, I led myself back to my bedroom ignoring my aunt who was still talking about being responsible, shutting the door behind me. I leaned against the door trying to put two and two together glancing at the balcony.
I walked to it and it was locked. I definitely remembered locking it yesterday, but that was before I, locking it yeserYesteray had opened it for Azian in my dreams. So if Azian had really come last night it should be unlocked, but it was locked, and the lock was inside so that only meant I was definitely overreacting. There was simply no way he could have escaped from the balcony and locked it too.
Nope, I was crazy...it had been a dream. I run a hand down my face sighing. I needed to catch myself or I would go insane. I needed to get my facts straight. Yes, it was definitely kind of crazy how I remembered every single thing, how he smelt, how he felt, every single moment but the truth of the matter is that Azian King wouldn’t be caught dead with me.
Claim my offer? How lame was my brain to come up with that scenario? Azian King wouldn’t come to visit me in the middle of the night just for a remedy that probably wouldn’t even work. Oh, the highs I have fallen to ever think that could have been a reality.
I shook my head 8 times fast to get the feeling off.
So why were they two glasses on the sink? The only explanation I could think of is that I had probably been hungry and drank some milk, came back to bed and forgot I did or mashed it up in the dream.
Then why where there two glasses?
Maybe I was sleep walking and-You know what this is just plain stupid. All these were games, and stupid assumptions.
It was a dream period. That’s what it was, nothing else.
With that, I  stood up and walked into my shower.
