I woke up very early this morning feeling annoyed and cool at the same time. Annoyed, because my husband was traveling outside the country for his business trip that he mentioned some days back. I didn't like the fact that he was traveling, because the year was fresh, but this wasn't the first time he was traveling since this year. The business has been taking a whole lot of his time and this was keeping him far away from his children who hardly see him this days. And also far from me. I was beginning to get pissed off whenever he mentions work. This was quite unlike him and this was quite unlike me who uses to be excited about his work.
I was cool headed and kinda excited because this was the first week of officially resuming as a company manager! It was an awesome news, to me and my family and my friends as well.
I was really excited starting work from a different dimension or phase of life this morning and that increased my work efficiency.
The kids were preparing for school as well, that is the usuals for Monday. Everyone are always busy on this day and on this time.
I had prepared Alex's bag for his trip the previous day. I made sure to provide or keep intact whatever he was going to need on that note.
Even as I wasn't happy my husband was traveling, I was surprised to notice that my children were also sad for the fact that their father was traveling.
Alex was to leave early so he could catch-up with traffic and also get to the airport in time to catch his flight then.
I was running helter skelter trying to make sure everything was in place, to avoid him getting so stranded at the first day.
Still running about trying to keep Alex in shape, I was also running about trying to make sure the kids were doing what they ought to do.
As usual, Marvin always cause more troubles to me, especially when it comes to dressing for school. He keeps giving excuses for not trying his dressing properly.
I went to the kitchen to supervise what Nancy was doing. Earlier that morning, I had asked her to prepare pancakes, as that is what we were going to have for breakfast this morning, before we leave.
"Good morning ma." She greeted me as soon as I entered the kitchen to see what she was doing and how far she had gone.
"Good morning dear. Hope you slept well last night? Because I did." I said to her, smiling sheepishly at her though.
"Yes ma'am, I really enjoyed my sleep. Last night, the Air Conditioner was higher than usual, so I really enjoyed my sleep so well.".she replied, turning over the flap of the pancake she had on fire already.
"Oh, okay that's good. How far have you gone with your cooking? Hope it won't take much of a time now? Because it's getting late and my husband needs to eat before leaving.
"Well ma'am, I don't know how long it will last, but I'm sure it might take longer time. But, I suggest that if he is ready to eat, you can take some from the ones I have fried already." She said to me.
"Okay, that's great. I will do just that. Please, put water in the fire, so I can prepare a very good hot tea for tea."
"Yes ma'am. Well, I am almost done o, but you can still go ahead with the plan anyway." Nancy suggested timidly.
"Okay, I will come back later to check up again. Hope that is fine and okay with you? I asked calmly.
"Yes ma'am. I don't have any problem. I am ready when you are." I answered.
I left the kitchen and went to the kids' room to see how they were going. I went to Marvela's room first, because for the records, I haven't seen her that day.
",Hey Vel. How are you doing this morning? I asked her as I came inside the room.
"Good morning Mom. I am doing very fine. Just preparing for school." She replied, having her socks in her hand and she was about to put it on.
"Oh, that's so great. So, is there anything you might want me to help you with my dear? I asked her, expecting a no for an answer, as that is usually their response to us.
"Nothing ma. Except that, after dressing up I will like to take breakfast immediately. I won't skip it today, I promise."
"Really? Okay then. If you say so. Uhm, please don't forget your pencils, your pen, your eraser..."
"Mommm! I have all of that packaged in my bag, so don't worry about that. You always sing it as a songs in my ear almost every school day." She cut me off while I was talking and dropped what she had in mind.
"Okay Vel, I give up alright. Please don't forget anything you need for school tody.. I am not ready to return here to get anything from the house for anything." I replied.
She smiled coolly and continued with what she was doing, while I left her room to Marvin's room.
"Hey Marvin, how's it going? I asked him as I walked into his room.
He was dressing up, like he just finished having his bath.
"I am very fine. Good morning Mom. How was the night? Hope you slept well? He asked me, while putting on his shirt.
"I was about asking you that as well. Well, I had a very wonderful night dear. Thank you so much." I replied, while smiling calmly at him. Then I added, "how is your preparation for school?
"It is going fine Mom, as you can see, I am putting on my clothes. So, atleast you won't have to blame me anymore for going against the rules."
I laughed at that statement, but I didn't let him know that I laughed at it anyway.
"Okay then, I think I will have to go now. See you downstairs for breakfast. Make sure you come early. You are not allowed to be late for breakfast." I said to him.
"Yes Mommy, thank you so much for reminding me again. I will make sure that I am downstairs early." He answered and continued with his dressing up.
I left him to go and make sure breakfast was set before they come downstairs.
