I checked the kids' room. Marvela's room first of all, but she wasn't in her room. I checked up on Marvin I his room as well, but he wasn't there either.
I guess their father has taken them for a walk or a stroll or something. I felt hunger contraction in my stomach, so I paused looking for them, then I headed to the kitchen to see what's available.
I met Nancy in the kitchen when I walked inside. She was busy with something, so I came closer to see what it was. As I got closer, I cleared my throat in a way that announced that someone was around.
She left what she doing and looked up to see who it was. She smiled broadly when she saw me coming towards her.
"Good afternoon ma'am. You're awake finally. You really enjoyed your sleep o to the fullest."
"Hahahaha. Good Afternoon. Well, I had no choice. I was so tired yesterday. The fact that I had to finish up with the many tasks I had yesterday took all my energy." I answered.
"But you're fine ma, right? She asked.
"Yeah, I am. Though, I had slight headache when I woke up."
"You must be hungry, should I quickly prepare tea and maybe toast bread for you ma? Nancy asked, dropping what she was holding and cleaning her hands.
"Yeah, that will be fine. What are you doing? All these foodstuffs on the floor, in the bag, what is it for? I asked.
"Ha, ma, you forgot you sent me to go to the market this morning. I came back not quite long, so I was only sorting out the foodstuffs I got before you came inside." She replied.
"Oh that's true. I literarily forgot that. Please, continue with what you are doing, I will take care of what I will eat." I said to her and walked to the fridge to get what I need.
"Ma'am, no please. Boss strictly warned me to take care of you ma. Please allow me do whatever you want to. I can do it, it won't take so much time." Nancy disagreed with me.
"Nancy, you are busy already. There's no need bothering yourself, I can handle it myself. By the way I'm only preparing tea, just tea."
"Ma'am, I don't want your husband to sanction me. He really warned me thoroughly ma." She said as she took the tea bag from me. I didn't bother resisting her because I knew it wouldn't work at all.
She prepared hot tea and toasted bread, then she handed it over to me.
"Ma'am, should I take it to the dinning room for you? She asked when she was done.
"No, don't worry about that, I will eat here."
I sat down comfortably on the kitchen high chair and started to eat my food. I was not really having appetite for tea and bread, but that was the fastest thing I could have the patience to wait for at this time.
"Ma'am, won't Boss get annoyed if he sees you eating in the kitchen, it seems..."
"Nancy, come on, that's between both of us, don't let that disturb you."
"Okay ma." She answered. But I could hear her whisper, thank God, to herself. I just smiled at that, I understand why she's being that way though.
"So Nancy, what are you preparing for lunch? In the next one hour, it will be time for lunch."
"Ma'am, ha, nothing o. When you were still sleeping, your husband said I shouldn't bother preparing lunch..."
"Why? Why's that? I asked curiously.
"He took the kids out, so I think he will get something there or maybe they will take lunch there. I trust your husband, he won't let your kids starve."
"Wow, Alex took the kids out? Goodness, so I missed out on this. We will definitely go out tomorrow, I won't let that slide."
"Ma'am, ha ha ha, that will be nice. Hope you're not jealous that he didn't take just the kids. Besides, you were enjoying as well." Nancy said teasingly.
"That's not my problem for now. I will sort that out with him when he returns. No wonder he hasn't called me either. Interesting."
"Ma'am, I can't believe you're acting this weird. Hahahaha. I'm sure you're joking anyway. The kids will be glad you slept, because right now they will definitely be having a lot of fun"
"Yeah, true. I missed out on that anyway. But, that aside, what do you intend doing after arranging the stuff you bought? I asked still chewing the bread slowly.
"I'll prepare dinner and then, uhm, I will..." She let the words strail.
I knew instantly that she was hiding something from me. I have come to know her that much that I could easily predict her actions and sometimes though not often, the reasons behind it.
"What is it? What are you hiding young lady? I asked.
"Nothing ma'am, it's just dinner. But, I think I will wait till evening, so that it will be fresh." She answered.
"Oh, I see. What do you want to prepare for dinner then? Since you guys planned that I should just lazy around the house today."
"It's vegetable soup. That's what I want to prepare ma. I vegetables are cut already, so it won't take me a lot of time. The only thing that will take a bit of my time is the goat beef and chicken."
"Is that the only thing you're using for the soup? That's so light" I complained, frowning.
"No ma'am. There are lots of items I got for the soup. There is dried fish, fresh one, cat fish, chicken, goat meat, beef, and some flesh."
"Cool, now I can say you really wanna cook soup. But that doesn't mean I forgot. Aside preparing dinner, what is it you wanna do again that you paused from telling me? I asked her.
She smiled shyly, then she said "I want to bake some cupcakes with the recipe I have. I wanted it to be a surprise, I unfortunately, you've spoilt my show ma'am" she confessed.
"Cool. I'm impressed. Well, show isn't over yet. Since you wanna surprise us, I will just have to pretend about it. Others don't. I can help, can't I? It's been awhile I did such." I said excitedly.
She looked at me in a surprised manner. I guess she wasn't expecting me to act so free with her.
"Thank you so much ma'am. I will round up quickly with this, so I can start up something."
