Xavier raised his eyes indifferently, and looked at Authur with a dark gaze. That gaze seemed to be able to kill. Authur coughed lightly, looking away from him.
"That woman has been dead for five years, your heart knot still can't be loosen?"
As his attending doctor, Authur knew very well that Xavier wasn't the disfigured man he is said to be but he thought that what John said in the recording about his lower body was true. Xavier is very secretive and wouldn't say anything even to his attending doctor.
Five years ago, a lot of things had happened to him. He unknowingly spent a night with a strange woman. That night, the woman was in pain and suffered from depression. He didn't even know who the woman is.
After his bethrothed gave birth to the two twins Liam and Lexy, their mother set fire to herself without reason not known. She didn't plan to kill herself alone but almost burned Liam and Lexy to death. If not for Xavier that rescued them with his life, they would be dead by now.
After that fire, Xavier blamed himself for what happened. He then began to resist contact with women, not wanting to hurt any more women.
"Let's start tomorrow for a good treatment"
Authur had sympathy in his eyes. He thought the reason Xavier had shunned women is because his lower part got destroyed. Well that was a new thought after hearing the voice record.
"You are all married, and you have to responsible to your wife".
Xavier narrowed his eyes and looked at the little woman in the ward.
"I don't need to be treated. I'm alright" he said with a very crispy voice.
Authur's eyes widened. "Huh?"
He subconsciously followed Xavier's gaze and looked at where he was looking. Xavier and his wife seem to be exchanging looks. This really surprised Authur. Xavier haven't looked at any woman in years. None even heard about his marriage. It was Xavier's father that told Authur himself, if not he wouldn't have known. He hasn't seen Maria since she wedded Xavier.
"You treat her....."
Authur nodded still not able to comprehend what is going on. Xavier bypassed him and went straight into the ward.
"Husband, here you are!"
As soon as he entered the door, Maria called out to him sweetly. They've not been married for long but then she was at least glad to see him. She didn't think he would even come to look for her talk more of waiting till now.
This was the second time she had called him husband. Inexplicably, when she first called him husband, she was lying in the bathtub tempting him and dead drunk. Xavier's throat knot moved slightly. The way she called him moved his heart which he didn't know can. He walked in and sat beside her looking at her affectionately.
Maria seeing this, moved closer to him and rested her head on his chest. Xavier didn't push her away, he wrapped his arm round her waist.
Raising his eyes, he looked coldly at the pale and sluggish John in front of him.
"I heard that you want to touch my woman?" ”
John was confused. He looked at Xavier and then at Maria.
"You say you are......"
Suddenly, he began to shake his head frantically.
"No, impossible!" He let out.
He knew Xavier very well. He had been watching him since he entered. He definitely didn't have a twin. Isn't the rumored he was disfigured beyond repair and extremely ugly? How then can he be looking so handsome as if nothing was ever wrong with him?
"You are not president Xavier! You might be looking so much like him but then he had been destroyed beyond repair years back. I saw those disgusting pictures and videos" he argued.
John snorted coldly and pointed at Maria.
"I didn't expect you to go get president Xavier's look alike and pretend to be his wife. Everyone in the country knows the predicament of president Xavier. Even when he wasn't burnt, he's not as handsome as this. This is all face woman!" He shouted.
"You are too loud Mr Kent" the officer warned.
They all were looking amazingly at what was happening. This was the first time they would see Xavier since the fire accident.
John, doing as if grasping the life-saving straw, he grabbed the hand of the police officer.
"Officer, you see, this woman is very conniving. This unknown man beside her shows that she has this all planned out. This is a prove that I've been speaking the truth all the while" he almost cried.
Xavier gave a stiff smiled and his aura was noble. He didn't have anything to say to the man ranting.
"Sir".
At this time, Xavier's personal assistant came in, respectfully by the bed.
"It's done" he said.
Xavier just gave a curt nod. If you hadn't watched closel you wouldn't noticed he nodded but then his assistant already knew he did.
John's eyes widened suddenly. Didn't this person always follow Xavier's side? His golden personal assistant that everyone respects. It is rumored that Xavier is reluctant to meet people because of his disfigurement, so everything is handled by Kelly Vintage, Xavier's well known personal assistant.
The only person Kelly Vintage listens to his his disfigured boss Xavier. He is as cold as his boss Xavier.Now, this indifferent golden and highly respected personal assistant of the McCarthy is here now in front of outsiders, actually bowing to his boss look alike.
Just at this thoughts, John's body jerked. His body then begin to tremble fiercely.
The man in front of him holding Maria really is Xavier McCarthy. Even if Maria wants to connive or plot with Xavier's look alike, will the highly respected Kelly Vintage who is the most trusted of Xavier McCarthy also connive?
But then wasn't Xavier McCarthy disfigured five years ago? He wasn't the only one with that thought. Everyone there was equally thinking the same.
Suddenly, John's mobile phone rang frantically. The police officer on the side that has John's mobile phone with him, pressed the answer button.
"John!"
The subordinate voice on the other end of the phone was crying. It sounded so unhappy.
