Maria opened her mouth, just about to say something to protest but then, a mouthful of rice had been stuffed into her mouth. Her mouth was so stuffed that she couldn't even speak. Helplessly, she had to swallow the food.
He did it again when she opened her mouth again to speak, another spoon full of food was stuffed in. This was the way Xavier fed her her meal bite by bite. He didn't even give her space to object.
Maria stubbornly still wanted to refuse, but later she accepted it being that she seem to have no choice in this. After all, her hand was indeed inconvenient, and Xavier seems to be the available one who could help her out.
As she ate, she couldn't help but to look at the man feeding her. He was silent and introverted, his temperament was cold and arrogant, but the action of feeding her, his hands was extremely elegant and gentle.
The light shone on his cold and clear-cut face, making his facial features more profound and charming. This man is the handsome Xavier McCarthy, her current husband. Maria couldn't believe that she was fed by this great tycoon of their state. She was so lot in looking at him that she forgot what they were doing and where they are.
"Mommy, is Daddy looking that handsome?"
Suddenly, the childish voice of the Lexy rang in her ears. She hurriedly returned back to her senses, only to find that at this moment, Xavier was still pointing the fork that has a meat on it at her mouth and waiting for her to open her mouth.
Even with his eyes that didn't show any expression, Maria could see that he was mocking her. Apparently, she then realized that she had been lost in watching him. Her face instantly turned red with embarrassment. She could t even look up again.
"I..... i...... I'm filled" she stuttered.
Xavier looked at the food on the table and then back to her. He didn't even say anything. He gracefully shoved the meat that she had not eaten into her mouth.
"Okay" he then said.
He then started to eat his own meal with the same cutlery. Maria widen her eyes at him. She didn't expect the everly reserved one to share same cutleries with her. Maria blushed and her heart beat faster.
She and him same cutleries? To her it seem like he was indirectly kissing her. She's a naive one and this little thing really matter to her.
"Uncomfortable? You look so red"
Liam glanced at Maria, and a rare smile rose on his lips.aria then seeing that the kids were smiling at her, she subconsciously reached out to touch her face.
She was feeling a scorching heat arising form her and this made her shrink. She knew she had to leave else she would embarrass herself the more.
"Can I be excused, I need to go first to go rest" she said in a low voice.
Since she wasning talking to anyone in particular and was also trying to escape, she didn't wait for anyone's acknowledgement before she trotted all the way and quickly went upstairs.
Because she was just too nervous, her right hand wrapped in gauze accidentally hit the railing of the stairs when she was going up the stairs.
"Tszzzzzzzz" she couldn't help but to sizzle.
The dislocation combined with the impact made groan in pain. She didn't know that the hand will be too painful. She tried not to be loud but then they heard her. She felt more embarrassed for being so clumsy
"Mommy!"
Liam and Lexy behind her put down their spoons at the same time and got down from their chairs worriedly.
"I'm okay."
Maria covered her dislocated wrist with her other hand and quickly turned back to comfort them.
"Don't worry I'm fine. I'm just a bit careless" she gave them a forceful smile.
She coerced the boys to return to their meal an turned and sighed scolding herself for her clumsiness. Little did she know that worse is coming. She didn't want Xavier to see her as a weak woman at all. She thinking that someone like Xavier will want a strong woman, not a weakling and a clumsy one.
The next step she would take was so imbalanced that she fell backwards.
"Ahhh" she screamed softly.
She closed her eyes and instinctively ready for the impending pain when she fall. She would definitely break more bones today. Luck on her side, a large, hot hand clasped her waist. The next second, she was pulled into a thick and warm embrace.
Xavier's noble and arrogant breath fanned her face. She slowly opened her eyes and it met with his plain eyes glowing in their sockets. Her heart beat became like it was Usain bolt running an 100 meters race in there.
"Daddy is so handsome!"
Still at the dinning room, Liam and Lexy watch the two with interest. Lexy was still eating while Liam has stopped. He couldn't eat much been that it was past his meal time. They gave their father thumbs up on how he easily predicted that Maria would fall off the stairs.
"He's so smart" Liam concurred.
Maria and Xavier were still looking into each other's eyes.
"Ain't you tired of breaking bones today?"
Even though his voice was sounding soft and sweet to Maria's ears, she knew he was scolding her for being so clumsy. She swallowed hard and blinked severally.
Xavier snorted softly, directly picked up Maria and walked upstairs steadily. Maria stiffened at this process. She was so surprised again. Feeling the temperature and breath of the him on her body, made Maria's blood begin to rampage. It was really boiling hot.
She...... This is the first time she will be held so closely like this by a man. After that incident five years ago, she began to resist getting so close and personal with any man.
