Coming out of the set, Maria walked to the nearby market. She hadn't forgotten that she had to make dinner for for her two sons Liam and Lexy. She wasn't really satisfied with what she had in the kitchen so she branched at the market to by fresh things.
"Sir, your wife has gone grocery shopping" Kelly said as he saw where Maria was heading.
The black Bentley stopped, and Kelly looked at Xavier who was seated in the back seat of the car, busy with a document. Normally they will still be at the office working. Xavier is a workaholic but he always make sure to see his kids before they sleep. Then that was the only reason he left work at the time he left but now he has to do that for some sort of wife. It was quite tiring to him.
"Are we going to keep waiting, or....."
Xavier put down the file he was busy with, lowered the car window, and looked at Maria's back. Along the way, he had sorted out the relationship between her and the two standing with her. One was her ex-boyfriend, while the lady was her friend. The two had betrayed her by having secret affair behind her back and still flaunt their love in front of her when she found out.
He thought that, according to the grief-stricken look of the night of their wedding and how she drank so much wine, what had just happened would have brought her tears of sadness.
But......
He watched the woman walk briskly, humming a song as she walked towards the market. She looked like she was happy despite all the bruises on her face.
"Why is she full of bruises?"
Kelly glanced slightly at his boss.
" I think it's when they were shooting the movie" he replied.
" Find out who did it".

After Maria bought ingredients she was going to use to cook for her two babies at the market, she passed by the stall selling fish. She remembered that she had asked the housekeeper what her husband liked to eat most. The housekeeper said he liked to eat fish. Today she want to make his favorite food.
She was still feeling guilty at cooking him just noodles the other day and again, she was ready to flunct her cooking skills at his face. She wanted him to know that she really knows how to cook. Better than his chef.
Chris never like fish. He felt it has too much oil in it. He always complained whenever Maria eats fish and this made it that it's been a long time that she had tasted fish. When she heard that Xavier loved eating fish, she was quite excited because she also suddenly began to long for fish. She had thought in her heart how she was going to cook
She carefully chose a fresh and fat one at the fish stall and asked the shopkeeper to kill and take it back. After buying vegetables, Maria came out of the market with two large bags full of them.
Just as she stepped out of the door, she was dragged into the alley by Chris's assistant. She reluctantly went because she didn't want to make a scene.
"You're here".
Chris leaned against the car door and looked at Maria's eyes indifferently.
"I'll send you home".
Maria glanced at the car behind him and smiled faintly.
"No need. I now live with my husband in the McCarthy villa in the west of the city, and you can't get in this shabby car".
Chris frowned at her mockery. Maria then decided to continue.
"Since you know that I am now married to president McCarthy, you should know that president McCarthy's financial resources will not be able to catch up with yours in this lifetime"
Chris's face suddenly became ugly because he frowned, and he stared at Maria with contempt.
"So, you married Xavier McCarthy because you wanted to cling to a rich man?"
Maria smiled.
"Yes, what else do you think?"
She looked at Chris, and there was no longer the fascination and madness for love in her eyes. Now this man made her feel disgusted.
"I just hate you for being poor, disgusted that you don't have president Xavier McCarthy's wealth, are you satisfied with this answer?" ”
"You're lying."
Chris stared at Maria's face, half-dazed, and he smiled.
"Have you forgotten I know you too well? You are not that kind of person."
Taking a deep breath, he spoke in a serious tone.
"Maria, are you still angry about what just happened? Just now everyone is not in a good mood. If there is something we said that hurt you, I deeply apologize".
Maria just gave him a blank look.
"Since you don't want me to send you back, I'll make a long story short of you". Chris sighed. "Just now Bel cried to me very sadly, she was kind enough to pay three times the price to let you be her stand-in because she feels so guilty for what she did, but you kept on making mistakes on the set again and again, delaying the shooting progress, and causing the general director to have a bad opinion about her".
Maria sneered. She felt more disgusted. He even called her Bel, his new found nick for her. He never even had a nick for her.
"Why would the general director have a bad opinion on Belinda? I did everything she told me to do. I didn't even object her making a man beat me up. Now it is my fault?" Maria snorted.
Chris didn't have anything to say to that. He was an hypocrite.
"I hope you will take your work seriously in the future, and make a clear distinction between public and private".
" Okay" Maria said just so he could let her go.
Chris pursed his lips.
"I know you, there is no way to accept that I am with Bel but we are truly in love. If you're going to blame anyone, blame me. I was too conservative to accept that the woman I love is giving birth to another man's child. That was when I went to get consoled by Belinda and things happened. Since then I've loved her".
Maria was stunned. It was as if her ears were rumbling, and she could hardly hear what Chris was saying. Five years ago, she had a car accident and she was being rescued in the operating room for a day and a night before she finally delivered the stillborn fetus in her womb. Even the doctor said that she had a big life, and if not, she would have died in the operating room.
She died nine times in her life, and the first thing she did when she woke up was to worry that the child had an accident. She won't get to know the man who impregnate her and clear things with Chris that she was drugged and raped.
But now Chris had told her that when she almost died in the operating room for him, he was sleeping with Belinda, who in turn got her into the whole mess. She had believed Belinda then that it wasn't what she knew about. But now, she confirmed that Belinda intentionally made her do it.
Maria sneered and said in a poignant voice.
"It turns out that you and Belinda hooked up five years ago and you still dare to stay with me for those five years? How heartless are you Chris!" She shouted.
