The already gloomy place became even gloomier with the news of the death of one of the important team members, David. His promise to come back before nightfall hung on every guard that arrived, he did fulfil his promise to come back before nightfall but instead of coming back together, he only send his apprentice home, safely. He left behind, alone. Strangely enough, the hot weather for weeks he's been there turn windy before it's pouring like cat and dogs. Redwood outpost members running around taking care of stuff that not supposed to be wet. Animals were shut safely from the rain. It's loud for a moment amidst the cracking thunder in the sky. Since the outpost was in the middle of two small hill, the pouring water from the sky and the hill has made it harder to keep things from tumbling down from the running water. After an hour, things settled down a little bit. However, as the sky darken, the rain pour as if it's bursting the droplets it's held for so long, it's heavier each hour and the wind picking up, shaking the tall tree around them. The unsettling feelings grows in each heart of redwood outpost members. As the air around outpost were growing heavier, Walter were tight under blanket, accompanied with nelson, Caine, Blythe and even Sam. The earlier Sam who wallow deeply sat with a resolved look on his face. As if he determined on something as he stared at already calm Walter. “It's not like I kick and throw hand crazily for you to wrap me in this.” He spoke above the whistling air outside the infirmary, the roaring of the pouring against metal contenna vibrated into his skull, and teg mad flapping of the vynil curtain on the entrance were distracting as the aisle of medicine that used to be in a sterile open place, shoved inside with no order, safe from the sudden rain outside. The thundering steps of guards that just behind the infirmary on the second floor competing with the real thunder in the sky. The creaking of the warehouse not far from the infirmary was constant on every five minutes. “Shouldn't you give a hand outside?. it's sounds like madness.” He pressed, seeing they decided to not respond on anything he gave ever since he calm down inside the infirmary half an hour ago. He just need to be alone with his thoughts, and apparently he wasn't allowed. If they worried he might cope in like the last time he lost his adoptive parents, they were truly wrong. He just want to sulk a bit before settle down. He sighed. “What happen outside?. David said something about redwood outpost isn't safe anymore. Any idea?.” He was surprised at his own commanding, cold stern voice but he got a reaction from Caine and nelson. They jolted in their seat, their straightened their back, before gulping visibly. And Sam composed eyes twitch for a second. But it was Blythe's booming voice that reply. “The rain has reduce their ability to see more than ten feet from the wall. And the only source of light in this outpost is fire, and with the wind and rain, it's useless to use. They had an electricity but it wasn't enough to light up the place. You see, it's generator is on second floor of windmill, but apparently only enough to filter inside the outpost and that's doesn't cover all place.” Blythe who stood at the foot of his bed, chose to pull one of the seat and quietly sit down with his arm on his chest. His booming voice echoes above the crazily pouring and the wind outside. “I send someone to see the underground bunker, and fit all non combatants in there until things settle down as Mr Nelson instruct.” Sam's voice that hardly heard among the noise, has made them realise just how crazy loud Blythe's voice is. And Sam is already shouting his lungs off. He coughed a second later. “Caine has sent a distress call, but raven shelter unable to send anyone in this weather, they will at least send somone tomorrow with the chopper.” Blythe, seeing everyone else's voice drown in the noise, made a decision to report the current situation to Walter. “Those in the bunker, did you send a few guards, just in case." Walter's voice smoothly sailed in the wind. “Two teams sent there, a dozen guards each, stand guard outside and inside. You don't have to worry-” A sudden shooting and shouting from the guards were heard before the contenna shook terribly at the impact of something, a dent created just behind Nelson, Caine, and Blythe, who sat side by side. Sam, who stood above his bedhead, leaned down to get his gun on the ground. For a second, there was nothing but the pouring rain against the contenna, and the whistling air filled the place. The silence unnerved everyone inside the contenna. Until a growling and deep rumbling inside reminded them of the famous T-Rex show ages ago. The flickering light from the thunder shone outside the contenna. They glanced at the dent again; it was big, almost converting from the roof to the ground- something that even a car or truck would be unable to create such a deep dent. A dread realisation settled; it was trouble beyond their capabilities. But the four of them stood anyway, with guns ready in their hands. Ever since the horde was actively attacking their outpost, Nelson announced that everyone needed to have a gun in their hands and combatants needed to be alert to each non-combatant's situation. However, the guns were so they could change position with the guards on duty at any time, but not this. A hard pounding in their hearts was hard to ignore. Walter wiggles in the cold of the blanket, attempting to free himself. As the four others approached the entrance. A panic rose inside his chest, reminding him that he needed to successfully save them and protect them this time. He glanced at the gun he brought to the warehouse this evening, lying bare on the ground, forgotten as their heads filled with others' trouble. “Stay here, Walter.” Blythe managed to say above the noise without his booming voice. His voice was serious and cautious. Walter was hit with all the images of people who wanted to save and protect him but died instead. He grew more anxious as he aggressively tried to free himself. He rolled and unconsciously fell down from the bed, but successful freeing himself from the tight embrace of the blanket. He picked up the gun and turned around to see that the spot where the four of them stood was empty. The light bathed the contenna’s entrance. The only source of light in here was an emergency light that most hospitals have. And it's unnerving him so much. It's everything, from the accident that evening, from the sudden pouring of the rain, the threat of a zombie horde, and now a possible attack. He had once heard about a group of bandits that make it hard for them to be out or in the small state; maybe it's them?. What do they want after all this time?. Why now?. Did they find out about the Raven chopper coming?. Did they want them hostage?. Countless questions poured along with the constant rain. Walter stepped carefully to the entrance. The tiny dip in the rising water on the ground was disturbed by Walter's movement. His gun was ready in front of him. He tried to listen for anything besides the thunder and the rain, but it was impossible. If he remembers correctly, he was heading to the windmill and the stalls around it. He circled, alert for any possible ambush. His shirt clung to him, as his hair that had grown over the last months kept bothering his sight. He swept it aside as swiftly as he could before he heard a deep rumbling amidst the pouring. His hands tightened on his gun, his eyes glancing around as his legs slowly making his way to any nearby stall. He needed a place to shield himself from anything, because that rumbling, the same sound he heard when he was inside the contenna, did not belong to a human but something bigger. A flash of thunder cleared his vision for a second. There, he saw something big sneaking up on him, as if playing with a prey. It was big, a few inches bigger than the truck in the outpost; its dark, thick, crocodile-like skin was illuminated by the flash for a second before disappearing along the sudden thunder. It stood on four legs, with its front arms bigger than the back legs; the back leg that much shorter and smaller, holding its weight, and the front arms stabilised its bigger upper body. Its head was like a big head of an alligator with a smaller and shorter mouth, with a tail with protruding points above it. Before Walter could jump behind the stall, the creature swipe his hand to slash Walter; coincidentally, the thunder light helped him see the attack. He quickly jumped back, putting a distance between the two; a tip of its sharp nail scratched his arms, leaving stinging pain in the rain. He pressed the gun in its direction, shooting as soon as the thunder illuminated the place again. It roared as a few flying bullets scratched its body. Walter turned around, knowing it was impossible to pierce that skin. Its thick, twice-his-height body was enough to send him flying to find another opportunity to attack. However, the heavy splashing behind him told him the opposite of the chances he imagined. It was certainly a few steps behind him. “Ahh shit!” He shouted as a realisation of him can not outrun the four-legged monster dawned on his mind. With one swipe, he indeed flew in the air before the air was knocked out of him twice that day. He should stay in that container, but he just can't accept that he's gonna be left behind, alone with his thoughts. He was scared of losing anyone he knew, even those whom he exchanged short morning greetings once or twice, and even more so, those he knew deeply. His mind drifted to Lucy and Michael Quinn for a second; he was sure they were safe in Raven Shelter. He groaned, pushing himself up to sit with a better position. The tent, probably in light colour, was broken and crumpled under him, with wooden boxes that they stacked on top of the tables to prevent getting soaked in the rising water scattered under the tent, sending sharp edges poking him everywhere. However, thanks to the broken tent, he was hidden from the brown, thick-skinned monster. That wasn't a zombie; what was that?. Something tickled behind his head, but all he heard was a ringing in his ears and the pain throbbing everywhere; he couldn't tell where the pain started or ended, or if there was any spot that didn't throb along his pounding heartbeat, making every inch of his body in sync with the beating. For a second, he just wanted to lie there until help came. But a flash of the scene in the infirmary, he swore he just couldn't stay down without knowing everyone was safe, those idiots and those guards and those who were under some underground bunker. He glances to the side as the rumbling kept circling that place as if waiting for him to emerge anywhere. His long finger almost touch the handle of the gun before a harsh swipe, tumbling all the boxes, with it's ingredients now somewhere under the tent, he was struck to another stall table’s feet, with boxes on top of his back as he was toppled with head down to the dirty wet ground. The sounds of boxes falling and struck each other filled his ears, confirming that the monster has lose it's patience to wait for him, and the rumbling mixed with deep growling now was intensifies, it was louder this time. “That doesn't feel good.” He complained, trying to pushing himself deeper under the unbelievable still standing table to escape the boxes on his back. He felt a deep prick on his thigh, a stab that ripping his pants and into his flesh. A groan threatening to be let out of his throat. He shakily pulling himself even more, his head, felt like a ton of rocks weighing heavily, he turned his head towards the sounds, as deep as it can be, somewhere closer.
