The next day. 
The Edison's were all woken up by vigorous knocks at their front door. 
Elina was the first to wake up, she ran to her parent's room panicky. 
    " Mom... Dad? " She called out to her parents who were as confused as she was. 
" Who could it be? " Nicole wondered in fear. 
As they had already laid off all their workers, they could only be the ones to open the door.  But now out of fear of the unknown they didn't want to open the door. 
" I'll get the door. " Mr Edison announced, descending the stairs and  advancing towards the main door before the mother and daughter duo could stop him.
" Mom? " Elina turned to her mom in fear, completely unaware of what exactly was going on. 
" It'll be fine. " Nicole assured her daughter despite being so unsure herself.  Though  for some reason she believed in her husband and his abilities. 
[ A/N : Really? Just hoping you don't get disappointed, Miss Nicole. ]
Mr Edison walked towards the door and was immediately welcomed by three uniformed men.
He was perplexed at first, but seeing his assistant and the manager of the bank where he had secured a loan, he immediately understood what was going on.
" Good morning, Mr Edison. " They greeted him in unison and he could only nod.
He was already nervous, despite his calm facade.
     His worst nightmare was somehow already playing out right in front of him, and he didn't have an idea how he should handle it without running away and embarrassing himself and his family.
" We got a notice from the court. " One of the policemen handed him a letter.
Mr Edison opened the letter with shaky hands as if already knowing the contents and he read through.
    And at that moment. His legs gave way. He would have fallen flat to the ground if not for the timely intervention of one of the police officers that held him. 
    " Be careful, Mr Edison. "
" Thanks. " He faked a smile as he regained his balance. 
" So just as you've read in the letter. You've got only seven days to evict this property. " The bank manager said and left.
" Good day, Mr Edison! " The policemen said in unison as they walked away.
Mr Edison was left alone at the door, barely holding on. 
His whole world came crumbling down in front of him.
Everything he had worked long and hard for, was being taken away from him one at a time...
Despite all his sacrifices and the desperate measures he took. He still lost it in the end.
The company and then this house!
Everything he snatched was being snatched away from him, right before his eyes and he couldn't do anything! 
Is this what they call karma? He wondered.
Is this the payment for his sins? 
His many sins which were too cruel to even be heard. 
Is it?
But wait, he was still free right?
What if the police got hold of the information that he and his wife planned his brother and his wife's murder? 
Wouldn't they end up being sentenced if that happened?
Even thinking of spending a day in prison made him cringe. Not to talk of spending a lifetime there!
" Hon... You? " Nicole said with tears in her eyes...
She had heard it all, and realizing that they were also going to lose the house along with the company was something she just couldn't accept. 
Where would she start from? 
Like really where?
Where would they live?
On the streets? 
She couldn't go back to her family, after turning her back on them years ago, in a quest to get married to Mr Henry Edison. 
But what now?
She had lost everything she ever took pride in!
Everything! With the exception of nothing and it really sucked!
She knew she still had her husband. But for some reason, realizing that he was almost penniless.She felt disgusted by him.
But what could she do?
He was her only hope right now. 
And of course, she couldn't abandon him now. Not when they were accomplices.
So even though right now all she wanted was to go her own way, she couldn't.
As she knew she had to stick to him, whether she liked it or not as they are in it together.
" We need to leave this city tonight, Nicole! " He announced without an ounce of emotion, as he began walking toward the stairs and ascending it towards his room without waiting for her response.
" But... '' Nicole didn't get to finish her statement as the jamming of their bedroom door interrupted her mid sentence.
" What about me, mom? " Elina cried.
" Baby, You'll be fine. " Nicole embraced her daughter. " You can't run away with us as you might be implicated. "
" Implicated for what? " She questioned.
" You'll understand eventually." Nicole sighed, she didn't know how to tell her daughter that they were guilty of the death of her uncle and his wife. 
She just couldn't.
" Mom! "
" Am sorry, Elina. But it's high time you've grown up. "  Her words made Elina stare wide eyed at her.
For a moment,  Elina couldn't recognize the woman in front of her. 
Is this really my super loving and caring mom? Or an imposter? She thought.
But well,  she never really knew her mom and was only being deceived all along. 
In the end, Elina's parents escaped overnight leaving her behind.
All alone in the deserted house.
Elina still found it very difficult to believe that she had lost everything she had in just months!
First it was her car, then her reputation, her friends and now her parents?
And now?
She could be likened to an orphan who had nothing!
Absolutely nothing!
And for the first time in her life.
She could almost feel Mira's pain, when the latter was abandoned.
Loneliness overwhelmed her and she tightened her fists, “ Was this what Mira felt? ”
Her feelings felt similar to Mira's when the latter was abandoned.
The only difference was that .
This time, it was Elina's ego that was hurting.
And instead of staying low.
She was determined to take revenge on the wrong person.
" You'll pay for all of this, Mira! " 
As always she was being irrational! Always blaming the wrong person for her family's misfortune.
That night, Elina made several calls.
She was so determined to take revenge that she didn't think of the consequences of her actions.
She never for once thought of what would happen to her once her plan backfires.
As she was only thinking of one thing, revenge!
Whether she'll succeed is something that's left for us to find out!
