 Saturday,
Evie had herself and Mira dolled up so beautifully, that Joseph found himself wondering if they were really just going off to attend a birthday party or a fashion show.
While Mira stood in front of the full body mirror examining herself, Joseph walked in discreetly. 
It wasn't until he embraced her from behind and left a soft peck on her bare shoulders did she notice him.
" Hey. " She blushed seeing his stare through the mirror. 
" You look very beautiful, Babe. " He left another peck on her shoulders making her melt. 
" Thanks. "
" My pleasure. " 
The duo fell silent as they simply kept staring at themselves in the mirror. 
" Don't you think we should take a picture? " Joseph broke the silence with his words.
" Ok. " Mira answered and before she knew it two shots were taken.
" That sure was really fast. " She couldn't help but comment. 
" Um... "
" What's up, Jose? " She turned around  to face him, sensing the solemnity in his voice, though it really wasn't obvious.
" Um? " She cupped his cheeks as she stared straight into his beautiful eyes. 
" Mira... " Joseph pulled her closer to himself, holding her carefully..
" Am listening. "
" I really don't want you to go to the birthday party. " He admitted with sad eyes.
" Oh? " To say that she was surprised by his words would be an understatement. 
" Why then did you give your consent? "
" Because, I want you to have your freedom, I don't want you to feel like a caged bird. You are an adult and shouldn't be treated like a child. " He tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her back. 
" Jose... How could you be so caring and understanding? " Mira was really touched by his words. 
" I love you, Mia... And loving you means that I always have your best interest at heart. "
" Um... Can I really measure up to your love for me? "
" Probably not... " He smiled. 
" I will be fine, Jose. " She replied after several minutes of silence.
" You promise? " 
" Um... "
" Okay... " Even though he had agreed to her going, he still didn't feel like letting her go. 
" Jose? It's almost time. " Seeing how many minutes have passed, Mira couldn't help but say. 
" Um, One kiss before you leave. " He said after releasing her. 
" No, Joseph. You'll ruin my lipstick. " Mira protested shyly.
" Then you are going nowhere. " He carried her up in a bridal style causing her to gasp. 
" So? " He placed her carefully on an empty table, caging her between his legs. 
" I surrender. " Mira found herself giving in to realizing the urgency of the situation.
" So? Am waiting. " Jose winked mischievously at her as he closed his eyes. 
" You'll never change. " Mia shook her head helplessly before leaning in to kiss him. 
But at the last moment, Joseph opened his eyes, catching her off guard. So she stopped. " Continue. "
" I can - " she tried to say when he shut her up with a kiss. 
This time, his kiss was really intense and demanding, yet Mira enjoyed every moment of it and even moaned when it ended.
" If this continues, Babe. I might not be able to hold it any longer. " Joseph whispered as he held her closely, whilst placing his forehead on hers. 
" And? " 
" I might just have to drag you to the altar and we'll get married. "
" You surely won't do that, Jose. I am just eighteen. "
" Um... Maybe. " He breathed in her unique scent for a moment before finally releasing her. 
" I love you, Mira. " He smiled, placing a gentle peck on her lips. 
" I love you too, Jose. " Mira pecked his cheeks, when he helped her down.
Seeing how she stood tall in her 7.5 cm heels, Joseph was both amused and worried. 
" Are you okay with these? " Unlike other men, he was more concerned with her comfort than how good she looked in it. 
" Am fine, Joseph. You don't have to worry. " She assured him with a smile. 
" Okay. But on one condition. "
" What? " 
Instead of replying, Joseph raised her up in his arms once more. 
Mira simply smiled as she hung her hands around his neck. 
For some reason, Evie wasn't too surprised watching the scene in front of her. 
Given how overprotective Joseph was, she kind of expected that from him. 
She was just amused as always..
Sometimes, she wondered how the duo would be if they finally got married..
Would they be more lovey dovey than this or what?
Obviously yes.
She made a mental note to avoid visiting their home, when they got married to avoid being overfed with dog food.

   The atmosphere at the Houston's mansion was a very serious one,  as students in their beautiful appearances went back and forth with their partners.
It was when their vehicle arrived at the party did Evie recall that it was actually a couple party.
" Oh no. " Evie unconsciously let out a frustrated sigh, realizing this. 
" What's up, Evie? " Mira paused from fixing up her make up which was ruined by Joseph earlier. 
" Well, Babe. We just have to deal with this as it comes. "
" Meaning? " 
" It's actually guy-girl partnering. But since, that has slipped my mind. We are going to be partnering up instead. "
" Okay then. " Mira felt she had nothing to worry about since Evie the mother hen was present.

The duo's appearance in the grand Hall caused a stir as the students couldn't keep their eyes off them..
" Isn't that Miranda Edison and Evie Claire? " They whispered amongst themselves, recognizing them. 
" Yup. "
" Oh wow. They look so different. "
" That's exactly what I was thinking too. Mira especially looks so well fed and more beautiful than she was before. "
" That's true. But isn't she meant to look a bit malnourished, since she now has to fend for herself having left the orphanage? "
" You never know. " 
" I heard she's currently dating the student's president, Joseph Winfrey. "
" Oh wow. I thought as much. The chemistry between the two of them has been undeniable right from day one, so it isn't so surprising if they are truly dating. "
" That's true. "
While the guys were having healthy conversations about the duo, the girls just weren't having it.
" Isn't that Miranda Edison? "
" It's her. She looks prettier than before, I must say. "
" Why won't she? I heard she's currently living off, students president.  Joseph Winfrey. "
" Really? But i thought they were just best friends, how is it possible that they are now dating? "
" You never know how shameless a girl can be until she finds a money bank. "
" Oh wow. I can't believe that she was so shameless to climb into his bed despite how holier than thou she claims to be. "
" You are obviously the only one that fell for that, as I knew from the onset that it was just a pretense. " 
" How shameless! "
" A stranger who sees her, would think she's a little baby princess not knowing that she's a snake in the green grass. " Another girl spat. 
From a distance, Elina who was in disguise was happily listening to their conversation. " It really seemed like not all the students were that much in love with Mira. After all, "she thought. " Not bad, I'll proudly use that to my advantage. " Mere thinking of what she had planned for Mira today kept her in a good mood. 
" We'll see what will become of you after today, Mira Edison. " She could already envision Mira's down-casted expression when Joseph finally throws her to the street. " It's gonna be fun. " She grinned widely. " If I can't have him. Then you are no one, Mira! " The mere thought of how the latter had been enjoying her crush's money made her glare hatefully at her. " You'll pay for it all, Mira! "
Meanwhile, Mira who was unaware of the impending danger, was happily chit chatting with Evie and some of their other classmates. 
" I can't believe you got an admission into Harvard that easily, Clover. Like it's literally one of the hardest colleges to enter! " Mira exclaimed.
" Me too. I didn't believe I could get in, until my Dad showed me that admission slot two months ago, I was completely stunned! "
" Well, I can't blame you for that as we all are aware of how strict Harvard's admission qualification is. " Evie added.
" Indeed. "
" Congratulations, Clover! You've begun breaking boundaries. "
" Don't be so melodramatic, guys. I didn't even break any boundaries. All I did was gain admission into a university. "
" Must I add, a prestigious university at that. The world's no one best university. It's not a joke, Babe. "
" Indeed, it isn't. "
" Alright, alright. I have heard. Thanks. "
" You are welcome. "
" And you guys? "
" Canadian university. "
" Including Joseph? "
" Positive. "
" Oh wow. I hear wedding bells ringing already. " Clover sent a mischievous wink at Mira who blushed heavily.
" That's not so far-fetched as the two of them had been stuffing me with so much dog food. If I didn't know better I would have believed that there's a bun in the oven already. "
" Really? Haha. " Clover bursted out in merriment, attracting the attention of the other people in the hall. 
" I must admit though that the two of them make a beautiful couple. "
" Same here. "
" I can't wait to attend their wedding. "
" Same here. I have even started doing some research on my chief bride's maid gown. "
" That's cool. I guess I should start doing mine for the flower girl's gown. "
" Guys, I am still here, you know? " Mira had turned crimson red from blushing.
" We know, little bride. Yet we've decided to ignore that fact, isn't it ? "
" Yes, " the latter replied with a wink.
" Whatever. Just be prepared to answer Jose when we get back. "
" Oh no. I am really sorry, Mira. "
" You do know I love you the most, right? "
Seeing Evie's 360 degree change in character, the duo bursted out laughing. 
Who would have thought that the mischievous mother hen could be so scared of the super soft and easy going Joseph.
But well, only Evie knows just how ruthless Joseph could be when it comes to Mira. 
Whatever it was. She was determined to keep it to herself till he decides to reveal that side of him to the others.
Most especially from Mira who was completely clueless of how overprotective he is, when it comes to her.
