HIS
—
"Oh my goodness! He's awake! Mom!"
A loud voices routed my ears. I tried to move my body, but I failed. Can't even open my mouth to talk.
Someone instantly came to my direction, then the other footsteps follows. I heard some cries and claps.
What the heck is going on?
"Please call the doctor!" I heard some panicked voices, so as the thud of the door due to being opened.
I felt a light entered my eyes, as the doctor forced to open it. Damn it! I can't move!
"Amadeus, son? Do you hear me?" I heard my mom's sweet voice while caressing my face. I was staring at her and can't flinch even a bit.
I was in the midst of recollecting what happened when a memory flashes my mind.
FLASHBACK
"Taliyah…Taliyah…" I keeps on chanting that name since I woke up. It's been years since an image of a lady named Taliyah flashes my mind, and everytime i hear her voice in my dreams, It feels like music to my ear.
I even witnessed her crying and begging for me to stay. It's been years and I still can't forget her name, her face, her voice—everything.
Until one day. I visited my grandparent's ancestral house to make a renovation and also to meet my grandmother personally, when I accidentally entered the basement.
It felt normal to me, not until I unintentionally opened the hidden room. I opened it without any doubts and used my flashlight to create a light. I was in awe when the place smells so old, then I realized one thing.
It feels like I've been to this place, so i followed my instincts and opened some drawers. I was taken a back and almost jumped when I saw a thing covered with white cloth. Due to my curiosity, I took the cloth off.
I started to feel numb when I saw a portrait of a lady. Her eyes looked so helpless and vulnerable, even she was covered with colorful flowers. As I was staring at her, I remembered a certain person.
"T-Taliyah…" My tears started to fall and memories started to flash in my mind.
All the things we have been through and all the happiest moments we've shared.
"Amore mio…" I slowly touched her portrait while reminiscing everything. My heart is now aching, remembering that I didn't fulfilled my promise to her.
I need to see her!
My eyes landed on the side of the portrait, and I cried more realizing that it is a portrait of me, sketched in an old small board.
I tremblingly touched it with my bare hands while I can barely see the portrait due to my tears.
I diverted my gaze to the engraved words and smiled when I recognized her handwritten.
"Demasiado tarde para recordar,
pero prometo estar de vuelta en tus
brazos, Amore mio"
I dropped myself on the floor after reading her words. I know a little bit of spanish since I studied in Spain for some business matter.
"Wait for me, Amore mio. I am now back, and will surely be with you soon," I uttered under my breath.
I was about to exit the place when my eyes landed on the bracelet inside the drawer I opened lately. I smile upon realizing that it is the bracelet I gave a century ago.
I placed it on my pocket and instantly left the room.
I fished my phone when it vibrated and answered the call.
"I've been waiting for you na. Where are you na ba?" I sighed and chuckled.
"I'm on my way, Tach. Just wait for me there," I answered and was about to drop the call when she uttered again.
"Okay, I love yo—"
"Please, don't hurt yourself. We're friends, right? I don't want to ruin our friendship," i cut her out and said it frankly.
I don't want to hurt her, especially that I am looking for my Taliyah.
"Tsk, whatever. Hurry up." And it's her who dropped the call.
I'm heading to Satachi's new school which is the Caughlissima University. She's a good childhood friend of mine and I valued her as my little sister, so now that I am here in the Philippines, she asked me to be her driver.
My mind is still in turmoil upon remembering Taliyah. How I miss her so much. I smiled out of nowhere and accelerated my speed.
"Satachi, where are you?" I asked when I arrived in front of their gate.
"Still in the library. Can you come here na lang? We're still doing our report e," she answered in the other line. I just sighed and nodded.
"Okay."
I am currently on the hallway when my phone vibrated again.
"Are you on your way now?" Asked by my sister whose now panicking.
"Nope. I'm in Satachi's schoo—"
"Come here, right now!"
"Why? Yes, i'll come after I fetch her ho—"
"We need you here, right no—"
"Yes, I said i'm coming—What the fvck!" My curse blurted out when i bumped into someone. She almost got stumbled, but good thing I held her arm and she took a strong grip of my jacket.
I was about to look at her and complain when she didn't even looked at me, for she is busy fishing her bag.
"H-Hold on for a sec. H-Hey miss, i'm sorry, A-Are you hurt?" I asked in a baritone voice. I even stuttered upon saying those. I started to tremble when I find her so familiar. I didn't saw her face, but her body and appearance is so familiar, making me almost heaved a breath.
"I'm not, it's ok." My world got tangled after hearing her voice.
"A-Ahm, do you want to—" I was about to clutch her elbow to fully take a gaze on her face when she eluded my touch without even giving me an eye contact which made me gasp.
"I said, i'm ok. Just leave me alone." Her voice really is so familiar.
"But you s—Okay, nevermind, tss." I sighed and took my phone again when it vibrated. I chose to walk even i'm too hesitant to do so, and continued the call with Marianne.
"Who's that?" She asked.
"Nothing. So, what's happening?"
"Dad had another heart attack, and he badly need an operation right now. I can't calm mom down, so we badly need you he—"
"I'm coming," I instantly uttered and ran back to my car. I saw her again on the hallway, but chose to ignore her since there's more important than feeding my curiosity.
I was in the middle of accelerating my speed, heading to the hospital, when I remembered Satachi. So, I fetched my phone and called her, even I was driving.
"Look, Tach. I'm so sorry. There's an emergenc—"
"You're so selfish. I've been waiting here, and now, malalaman kong wala ka—"
"I said, i'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave you hanging. Marianne called and—"
"I'm pregnant, Deus."
"What are you talking abo—" I stopped when I felt a sudden collision with my car. A long beep echoed all over the place, lights had scattered, and the last thing I knew, I was filled with blood and darkness claims me.
END OF FLASHBACK
"How are you feeling? Does anything hurts?" Marianne keeps on asking that question, but I remained silent while still staring at the ceiling.
It's been 2 days since I woke up, and I am currently undergoing a therapy for me to walk and speak. I found out that I had been in coma for 3 years. My mind is perfectly fine, I can still even remember Aeul—A lady whom I love for so long. My tears started to fall upon reminiscing her pain when we last saw each other.
I saw Marianne panicked and tried to call my mom, when my cousin Xiantiko entered the room.
"How are you feeling, bro?" He asked and sat at the couch. I didn't answered and just staring at the wall.
"Sorry, I wasn't able to visit you last time. I just came home from business matter in Dubai. My sched is so damn hectic, good thing I managed to visit you. Damn, bro, you've missed a lot." I was just staring at nowhere, can't even understand his words. We went silent, when his phone vibrated.
"Hello? Yes, yes. I went there—Sure, sure. I'll be on time. Yes, Champagne is now on her way—Don't worry, Aeul." My eyes landed to his direction when I heard him calling that name.
"Aeul?" I asked with knotted forehead. He gave me a surprising look and ended up the call.
"What the—You talk?!" He asked, still shocked.
"Who's that Aeul? Aeul Kanaris Nueva?" He's still in a state of shock, but managed to answer me.
"Yes… She's a friend of mine?" He answered like a question. "Wait, bro—How'd you know he—"
"I need to see her. I need to go to her," I uttered and prepared myself to stand up. I can now manage to walk due to my therapy, but they are oblivious of me, talking fluently.
"W-Wait right there. She's busy preparing for her wedding right no—"
"A wedd—what?! You're kidding, right? C'mon, I need to see her!"
"Chill, bro. I'm going there right now, but you can't come with me. You're still not hea—"
"Fvck it! I need to go there!"
