Wendy Dreamland Part 2

Chapter 28
"Guardian of Soul, where are we going?" That was Alyssa's immediate question after I pulled her out of the room.
"We're going to St. Luke's Hospital," I answered simply before putting on the jacket I was carrying and fixing my hair. I do not know if I am doing it right thing or wrong, all I know is that I need to help this child. That alone is the most important thing right now.
We went straight to the car and there I first put Alyssa in the passenger seat before I turned towards the driver seat to drive the car to Manila. It's late at night and I should be able to come back tomorrow because Hailey's parents are worried about their child. I just said that I was only staying two days at Albus' house especially it's weekends. But I had to attend school tomorrow so I should be able to return to Plamour immediately. It was a bit far but there is always a way.
"Guardian of Soul—" I did not finish Alyssa with what she was about to mumble.
"Allyssa, you can call me Mary." I turned to her for a moment and smiled before I regained my sight on the road.
"Okay, Mary." I just smiled when I heard her. This is probably the first time I have heard my name again from anyone other than Saint. After about three months. "Mary, you don't own that body right, do you?" That question of her did not surprise me. I nodded in response. "Why?" However, his additional question I could not answer. I can't tell the little girl that I gave up on life. I gave up on the life I had before while she's right in front of me continuously fighting to get back the life she had before.
I can't help but think that I am now faced with my enormous mistake. Yet I struggle to resist the feeling and ignore it.
"How did you know I didn't own this body?" I'm just asking to change the subject.
"Your physical face is different from your soul, Mary," Saint told me that he sees my soul but he did not say that even the lost souls see the same. "Why is that?" She asked again so this time I had nothing else to do but answer her.
"Because like you, I am a lost soul, I just had a little problem so here I am." She nodded when I looked at her. Seems to understand the things I said at her young age.
I couldn't help but smile again.
Alyssa looks beautiful as a child. She will achieve a lot as she grows up. That's why I was even more determined to help her. I thought maybe she can reach the things I left behind when I chose to wrap the rope around my neck.
"Mary, when I come back, will I still remember you?" Her question I can not answer again. I don't even know how I can help Alyssa. I was worried that I might just make her hope for nothing due to the title I do not remember how will work.
"I don't know Alyssa but I will do everything to help you. Just trust me, okay?" With that, she nodded again.
I accelerated the car so that we could get to St. Luke's Hospital and I can think for a long time to help the child get back to her body.
It took us about four hours on the road but we still could not get there. It would only be quick if we boarded a plane, but that was a hassle. There is no time to book a flight. So, instead of complaining, I put up with another tiring two-hour drive to get to our destination.
It didn't take long for Alyssa to smile a lot when I parked the car in the hospital parking lot. I immediately went out and Alyssa did the same. She just passed through the car something I had never thought of before. Nevertheless, I am not surprised perhaps already accustomed.
I instantly asked at the reception where I could find Allyssa Montalban's room. That is the name Allyssa told me. They asked me how am I related to the patient so I said I was the child's cousin. They would not have allowed me to visit but I insisted. That's why they also have no choice.
"Room 607 and the 7th floor." The nurse who was there said with a tired voice.
I just smiled.
But what Wendy does not know is that the dream she thinks is her reality and what she thinks is reality is just her dream. Wendy is just travelling to dreamland in search of happiness.
I don't know why I was so nervous even though I was just holding the doorknob of Alyssa's room number. Maybe I am still nervous at the thought that I might just make the child hope to come back in her body. I don't know what to do other than to think I want to help.
During the times I was still alive in my real body, I never thought of helping others. I always keep in mind that when I help once, that will more and will be followed more. Besides, no one will believe when I helped.
But I did not speculate that one day I would be desperate to help someone. To the point that I will go to manila which is about six hours away from Plamour just to help Alyssa even without certainty.
I turned the child on my side for a moment. She just stood there while blankly staring at the door. But when she noticed my gaze Alyssa smile immediately.
I gasped.
The way she grinned I knew she was hoping. I don't think I can destroy her wonderful vision.
At that moment, I decided to open the door. There I was greeted by the room where Alyssa's physical body lay in the hospital bed. On her side was a machine. It looks like the child is just sleeping, but here is the fact that she is comatose because her soul is not in her body right now. Alyssa's mother was also there sleeping on the sofa
"Mary." The simple fact that a child mentions my name makes me realize what she wants to tell. Alyssa is already asking what we will do next. But whether I admit it to myself or not, I know that even I, do not know what to do with now.
"Amm, try to lie down." I'm not sure but I ordered her. It is very scratchy to think nonsense. In shows, it works like that. I think maybe Allyssa needs to do the same. However, when she tried, nothing happened. I scratched my head even more.
It was frustrating to the point that I messed up my hair.
What can I do to help her get back on her body then?
I could barely walk back and forth and tried to think. But all that stopped when I turned to Allyssa again. Now, I can see the trace of sadness on her face while just sitting on top of her body. She cannot enter.
How is this?
There I bit my finger and chose to stay in place. I think hard to find a solution.
With that, I choose to close my eyes for a moment to think. From there I recollected all my memory every time Saint's called me a guardian of the soul.
"What you saw earlier was a Lost Soul. Their aura is dark because they have been in the world for so long. But not everyone is like that, others are coloured and they are those souls who need the help of someone like you but it is persecution for us. "
This is one of the lines Saint left me with. He says souls like Alyssa need my help but that hinders their grim reapers.
I carefully analyzed what Saint said and from there it took me to the answer I was looking for. I am a problem for them because they can not get the soul I have helped. They need to make a report to explain what happened.
The question is how can I help?
I thought again deeply until that led me to an answer that awakened me.
I still remember what Alyssa said that once I started asking questions about her I couldn't do anything but help her. Likewise in capturing souls, it is necessary to read the death note to obtain it.
If so, there is only one way. But I hope this will work.
"Allyssa Montalban, I command you to return to your body to continue the glorious life that God has given you." And that did not disappoint me. In an instant, Alyssa's body shone luminously. A happy smile shone on the child, sincere gratitude and praise to God. I couldn't help but smile especially as her physical body slowly swallowed her soul as a sign of her return.
When she realized the realities between dream and reality, her schoolmate was there and shouted at her with the word "You're crazy Wendy."
Wendy Dreamland is one of the messy children stories I had read. It tells an unfamiliar story of a young girl who's dreaming for happiness. That lead her to the point that she thought her dream was her reality and her reality is her dream. Way back then, I couldn't understand it. But now, I think I knew.
This children's story tells to its readers a story of a person who doesn't have anything she dreams off, though she's happy. But she desires to look for greater happiness than she got. In that case, Wendy made an illusion to herself.
So, the moral lesson of the story is that people tend to unnoticed small pleasures because they seek even greater pleasure. It because a human desire for things does not have ending not until they get contented.
In my case, I did not make important to the life God made me. But look at Alyssa, fighting for her life at a young age. I should have been contented. I should have not asked for more.
