Chapter 17 Hide In The Mask

"Boss, here's the hardcopy of Jirah's contract. I've printed it out for you to check it."
The two creatures turned to hear the person speaking behind them. It was Mangxie, who came up to them without an idea that Terrence and Jirah were together in the dressing room.
"Jirah, you're here."
"Yes Mangz, I'm actually here. What contract is that?"
"Ah—"
"Just put it on my table Mangz. I am not done talking to Jirah yet. And please leave us for a moment," the actor commanded him.
The actor turned his gaze to the woman. As the actor took the contract from the table, Jirah's heart seemed to be racing fast. She wanted to stop it, but she didn’t know how. She thought that she might be asked to sign a contract to be fired.
"Read that line."
The actor pointed out what was written in the contract specifically about when her term as assistant to the actor would just end.
Jirah read that line and was depressed because she saw that she had only two months duration of work.
"Okay boss. I will make the most of my remaining days memorable as your assistant. I promise that I will give my best this time."
When the actor turned around, he saw a lunch box on his chair. It was familiar to him. He knew it was coming from Jirah again, but he ignored it and left the dressing room.
The next day, the management of the JCI TV network announced the Annual Party to be held next week. All the artists were already excited for that event. Included in the announcement was the note for the artists or staff that they must have a partner to take with on that day. It crossed Aaliyah's mind to invite the actor to be her partner.
Jirah also read the memorandum that Mangxie gave her. She didn't want to attend the event, but it was part of her contract that wherever her boss was, she was also there.
While Jirah was shopping for clothes at a dress shop, Aaliyah also passed by that place. The actress saw that her rival was also there, so she thought of a way to embarrass the woman at the event.
"Hey, Jirah. You're here."
"Ah... hehe. Yes, I've been here for about one hour but I hadn't chosen what to wear yet. I don't know what type of dress I preferred to wear to that kind of event."
"Hmm. Do you want me to help you?"
"Yes. It's a pleasure that a famous artist will help me this time."
"All right."
Jirah tried to suit everything Aaliyah had chosen for her. But, among those dresses, the actress chose red with pink rose design for her. The woman's face painted in gay when someone appeared to her during her uncertainties.
After a few days, the long -awaited hour had arrived for all employees in the entire JCI TV Network. At 7 p.m. the Annual party program began. But before that, thirty minutes before the event started, they got in the pictorials one by one.
Aaliyah looked stunning in her white gown designed by a famous dress designer. Everyone gazed at her and said that she was a pretty Princess.
Next to her to be photographed was the famous actor Terrence Johnson. They were amazed at the clothes he was wearing and everyone was waiting for his partner to come to the event. While the cameramen were busy taking his pictures, they noticed that the actor was out of mind. He seemed to be looking for someone to come in.
Five minutes before the ring time, a lady arrived wearing a unique dress isolated for the event. As soon as she passed the aisle, the eyes of the artists and staff were focused on her. Some smiled with teasing, while some gossiped about her attire, because her fashion looked outside the box. None of them adore her style, even the actor who noticed her immediately and snatched her from her pose to the hidden corner of the room.
"Hey, what kind of clothes are you wearing? It goes like you're attending a fantasy show. You ass**le seemed embarrassing in front of the attendees," said the actor.
"Why? This is elegant," she replied.
She walked around and gazed that people were looking at her. So as Aaliyah, who was laughing from a distance.
"What the hell are you doing? You're even confident to deal with them? What's wrong with you Jirah? My goodness!"
"I'm sorry. I just... just wear this because someone chose this kind of thing for me. It's Ms.—"
"Stop it Jirah. Whoever it is, I don't care!"
He sighed and continued saying, "Just go to Mangxie over there on the side so you won't be noticed. You're so freaking sh*t!"
The woman almost cried out in pain hearing those insults from her boss. She could not think of a nice idea of whatever she would do next to that corner. She had been trampled down, lost confidence and out of mind since then. But, a woman came near to her tapping her shoulder and gave her a mask to wear.
"Oh! Thank you. What's the use for this?" she asked.
"It's your accessory to complete your fantasy attire," the man answered.
Jirah felt like she had been trashing down again, but the man added his sentence.
"Wait, don't throw it."
"Why?"
"Because it's better for you to hide in that mask rather than to be embarrassed by those people around you."
Yes, the man was right. He's handsomeness really suited his attitude that Jirah liked. After that conversation, the man vanished from the woman's eyesight and Jirah anticipated it was just a sign for her to go on. Before she headed to Mangxie's post, she saw a calling card lying on the floor. The number was familiar to her, but she couldn't remember when she actually handed it. Then, she went to the next corner behind the food area.
After a while, Jirah's phone rang. It was a silent call from an unknown server telling her to go backstage. She was not in the mood to follow his order, but her phone rang again.
"What's wrong with you? I don't know who you are, just please stop bothering me!" she shouted with anger in her face.
"Young lady in red dress, please proceed to the backstage area. Thank you!" said the random call from the other line.
The call was so annoying for the young woman, but she kept on listening again and again. Until a text message was received on her phone. It stated that the actor needed her assistance, that was why she hurried to go to the instructed place.
And finally, she got to the dressing room located backstage and was able to give the second suit to the actor.
After assisting his boss, she became curious about the first call she received from an unknown caller. Near the actor's dressing room, there was a small room that was closed, but upon reading the notes on the door, she was even obsessed to get in. The printed letters appeared to be, "Get in when you're not feeling uneasy about your dress."
When she knocked on the door, no one was responding. She pushed the door lightly, then a light came within her. It was glary enough but she saw someone inside that room. Who could he be?
