Chapter 48 Dipa Vs Suta
"O" Dipa sighed "why did the Mandana people rebel against the kingdom?"
"People say, because Mandana's great-grandfather did not agree to the appointment of Jayanagara as king of Majapahit. Some say that his great-grandfather refused to be summoned to appear before the king. There are also those who say that his great-grandfather was angry with Mandana's great-grandfather because his great-grandfather's daughter had run away from the palace. There were also who broadcast about a great-grandfather's son-in-law, told his majesty about Mandana's great-grandfather's attitude against the king. Ah, there are many news that are not the same as one another. I don't know which one is true," said the old man in an indifferent tone.
"But why does grandpa still live here? Isn't grandpa not afraid of the soldiers' behavior?" Dipa asked.
The old man laughed lightly "I'm old. My job is only as a caretaker, carving statues and decorating the house. Here, have a look. Does this ox statue I carve resemble an ox or not?"
Forced Dipa to obey. For a moment he looked at the statue that was being carved by the runner. However, he paid no attention to the statue. So he answered casually "Yes, it does look like the truth . . . :" then quickly repeated the question "isn't grandpa afraid to stay here?"
The grandfather of the carver or carver laughed lightly "What should I be afraid of? What can they get from me? I am old, have nothing but this slatted hut. Even if I have money, I will not be disappointed if they take it. As long as I have life in my body, as long as these hands can move, I'm not afraid I won't be able to eat. I don't want to be bound by affection and disappointment. Money, furniture, the cottage and even my soul, I'll give it up if they deem it necessary to take it. I also feel innocent to the kingdom of Majapahit, to the people of Mandana and to those soldiers. Why should I be afraid and step aside?"
Dipa gasped. As far as the experience he had gone through, he had never met a grandfather who held such a calm, free and open mind. He secretly admitted that what Grandpa said was right. The hunger that had been moaning since earlier, suddenly settled down.
"It's getting late, if you need a place, sleep here. And if you're hungry, go to the kitchen. Cook your own rice," suddenly the grandfather said.
Dipa laughed "Thank you, grandpa. Does grandpa live alone? Who cooks rice for grandpa?"
"Stupid!" suddenly the grandfather shouted "why do you have to tell people to cook rice? Yasya bud dhirba lam tasya, meaning that intelligence is strength. If you want to be a strong human being, you have to be smart at everything. You live, you need to eat, why can't you make food? You want to rely on a wife or children. But if you are like me, you have no wife and children, are you unable to eat? Quickly, go to the kitchen "
Somehow, the grandfather's words raised Dipa's spirits. Especially the words 'Intelligence is strength' made a deep impression on his heart. He wants to learn everything. Herding, looking for wood, looking for water, cleaning the yard, cooking rice, doing pranic or breathing exercises, meditating, reading, writing and listening to stories about famous war senopati, about the Vedas of the Shiva religion, about Buddhist scriptures and so on....
After cooking rice, he ate with the old man. Only a few moments after laying down the carving, after eating, the grandfather continued his work. "Do you know what ox I'm carving?" he asked.
When Dipa said he didn't know, the old man explained, "This ox is called Lembu Andini, a heifer, the son of a king of jinn named Pata-nam. He wants to rule this world, so he meditates and is worshiped by the people around him and is considered a god. That is known by Batara Guru. Lembu Andini was conquered, then used as his vehicle. But Lembu Andini was not happy. He was incessantly looking for efforts to take revenge. Finally he got the sense to pit Batara Guru against his empress so that the two of them fought. After his empress I was defeated then Batara Guru knew that it was the Andini Ox that was the cause of him. Batara Guru was angry. The Andini Ox was cursed and turned into a rainbow. So, when you see a rainbow in the horizon, that is the Andini Ox drinking sea water..."
Dipa was happy to hear the grandfather's story. Until late at night, then both sleep. For several days Dipa lived with the grandfather. He received a lesson, about the science of carving wooden statues. Dipa is like a child who is thirsty for knowledge. And indeed Dipa has a smart brain, he is also diligent.
Indeed, on the third day, a group of Majapahit soldiers were on their way to Mandana. But they didn't bother the old man. After several days of living in the grandfather's hut, Dipapun immediately excused himself to continue the journey.
"Your goal is indeed very good" said the caretaker when he heard about Dipa's intention to go to the royal temple "there is indeed a turning wheel of government that runs the country's life. You can meet big people, can see big events and can get big excavations. I I have nothing that I can give you as a travel provision."
"Ah, grandpa is very kind to me. I already feel very grateful," said Dipa.
"Ah, since I can't give anything, at least I want to say a few words as an introduction to your journey" the grandpa caretaker paused for a moment to compose the words "Dipa, life is motion. Because it moves, it must have a goal. Goals are achieved because they are painted standing. Standing becomes firm because determination and belief are combined. Confidence is not easily shaken because you have a thick faith. And faith will last forever when our hearts have lived up to the awareness of the Truth...."
The conductor also stopped for a moment then continued "There is a saying that I still remember clearly: Yatha ekena cakrena rthasya na gatir bnavet. Evam purusa due to vina daivam na sidhyati'. It means, 'just as without wheels, the journey of a train is impossible, so too without effort. fate won't succeed'. Dipa, you have goals, that's good. But it's even better if you try to make those dreams come true. And the best thing, is if you succeed in achieving those goals. Nothing can change your destiny except yourself. ....”
Thus the old caretaker sent Dipa off with a string of pearls of wisdom. And those words greeted Dipa's heart, grew, blossomed and resulted in his personal formation in the future.
Back the child was in the middle of a beautiful mountain nature, quiet and calm. Throughout his journey, he always paid attention to the state of nature around him. More and more he is closer to nature and more and more aware of its greatness. This appreciation increasingly grows his love for the motherland. He did not know how extensive the work of Majapahit was. However, this self-approach with nature has given birth to a new feeling in his heart. I don't know if that's what is called ideals or goals. But he does have a feeling of love for the land of his country. He wanted the land of Majapahit to grow prosperous and develop into a big country. The people live in peace and prosperity....
The reverie of the running time suddenly shattered when suddenly he heard the sound of loud cheers. At that time he was on a fairly high incline and the sound of the commotion came from the lower front. Hurriedly he ran over. Arriving at the end of the road, it turns out that the road descends down and arrives at a field. What was witnessed in the field which was a valley below, shocked his heart.
In the land of that valley, a terrible battle was taking place between dozens of soldiers against hundreds of people. Both sides used a variety of sharp weapons. Pricking stabbed, stabbed stabbed, swords slashed, spears stabbed, gripped gripped and some were struggling. Even though they were greatly outnumbered, the soldiers seemed to be better trained in battle. Many of the victims who fell on the opposite side were dressed in ordinary people.
From behind the rock mound. Dipa saw in the valley below, a terrible battle was going on. The battle between the Majapahit troops and the army of the Mandana people. Cheers, shrieks of rebuke, shrill screams from the humans who were killing each other, the clamor filled the valley, as if it were going to split the sky.....
He sighed in surprise "Ouch, why do humans kill each other with humans? How cruel..." Simultaneously crossed his mind the ferocity of a tiger that likes to pounce on buffaloes, goats, rabbits and other animals. Also snakes. In the past, when he was looking for the Brahmacahya mushroom to treat the brahmin Anuraga, he was once almost killed by the snake that guards the mushroom. The tiger, the snake, is a ferocious beast. But ah, what was witnessed at that time really stretched the hairs on his neck "is there a human that is more ferocious than a tiger or a snake . . . ?"
Dipa did not dare to continue his doubts because he felt he was also a human child. And he felt that he was not as savage as tigers and snakes "Ah, no, no! Humans are certainly not as savage as tigers or snakes. Because we humans can think, have feelings of compassion. Aren't the teachings of the Veda and pitaka guiding us human beings to be virtuous and have compassion and love for fellow human beings....?"
Dipa's reflections also ran aground on the reality he saw happening in the valley below. Even though they have feelings of pity, know a sense of humanity, take in the noble teachings of the Veda and Pitaka, in fact, these humans still kill each other with each other.
Dipa's mind never stops contemplating before finding an answer. Suddenly he remembered the statement of his grandfather's nephew that the Majapahit king was angry with Mandana's great-grandfather who he thought was about to rebel, so he attacked Mandana as punishment "Ah, maybe that's what it is" he finally started groping "to govern the country, enact laws and punishments. Whoever is guilty will certainly be punished Rebellion is against the king's power, so it must be suppressed. Because the people of Mandana resisted, there was a bloody battle...."
Is that the answer, Dipa is still not completely sure. He was still horrified by the massacre that took place in the valley. Blood flowed reddening the earth, human bodies were strewn across the road, moaning groans tore the heart apart....
"Is there no other way to go, except having to fight?" Dipa's mind was still diving in a sea of doubts "is there a law that justifies fighting? Do the Vedas and Pitaka justify killing each other in war? . . . ?"
Drpa's mind seemed to be dense with questions. What was faced at that time, benar2 is a new problem. No matter how much his desire to gain knowledge in the matter, due to his young age, narrow knowledge and very limited experience, causes his desire to remain adrift in disappointment.
He didn't want to see the battle any longer. He quickly retreated and headed the other way. He also brought with him the musings on the unsolved problem, accompanying his swaying feet.
Every event certainly raises a problem. Every problem gives birth to a thought and every thought certainly demands a solution. Thus the incident of the battle in the mountain valley created a new problem in Dipa's heart. He never stops before getting a solution. Such is the character of Dipa who is hard-hearted and stubborn. Even though it was not successful at that time, in his heart he promised to investigate this matter to someone who was smart. And they broke a dream in the fields of his heart. That in the future, he will definitely study state law.
His attention began to bloom, his heart began to be interested. He saw a new world. A world that is not as narrow as his view, but a world that is wide and he has never known. He felt like a frog loose and shell. And he also felt that his step to the Majapahit temple would lead to a new world....
Two days later when he was passing through a forest, suddenly he was surprised to see two men dragging a woman. Both men were well-built, carrying guns. His outfit resembled the warrior he saw fighting in the mountain valley two days ago. Dipa wouldn't pay any attention to them if he didn't see what the two soldiers were doing.
The woman whose hands were grabbed by the two soldiers, seemed to be screaming and moaning. Her clothes were torn, and so was her cloth. The woman was young and beautiful. He struggled to get free but to no avail.
"Damn you, you dare to scratch my stomach!" shouted one of the soldiers who was not wearing a head cloth, while gripping the woman's shoulders tightly.
"Ouch..." the soldier screamed again in pain "demon, you dare to bite my finger!" he quickly grabbed the woman's hair and then laid her back.
While his friend, a soldier wearing a threshed head cloth, widened his eyes "Yes, that's right, Suta, tilt his head back, while I'll pull his shirt"
“Breth...” once pulled, tear the woman's clothes so that her back and chest are almost completely exposed.
"Huh" the clothed soldier's striated head widened "the skin on his back is really smooth ... uh . . ." he sighed and his eyes stretched wide "still like a ripe guava, Suta...."
"What?" welcome warrior Suta. Because he was looking up the woman's head, while the woman's body was protruding forward, he could not see her body clearly.
"The breasts ..." said the soldier.
"Oh, that." Suta then sighed in surprise too "not guava, kakang Arga but ripe papaya..."
"Hah!" Arga glared "demon, don't touch him, Suta. Remember, I will enjoy it first!"
"Puouk is loved by ulam," exclaimed Suta, ignoring his friend's warning.
"What do you mean?"
"What we're looking for is as long as the woman is young. But this one is not only young, but also beautiful and still a virgin..."
"Why do you know?" asked Arga.
"Her body is still slender and everything is still all ripe ....."
You can hear Arga's throat screeching swallowing his saliva "Hm, I haven't been home for a month...."
"Hah?" Suta sighed in surprise "woe, you are certainly like a hungry lion. Brother Arga, this woman should be for me and you I will find another woman who has been married"
"Why?"
"Ah, sorry for him. Ergyou are strong and hungry, he would have fainted when he fell on my turn," said Suta.
"Hmm" Argo snorted. His face got even hotter "Other things I can give up on you. But for this one, I won't give up!"
After saying that, Arga continued to hug the woman's body and then lifted her up. Because she had been dragged and grabbed by two powerful warriors earlier, even that woman seemed to have run out of strength.
But when Arga took a step, suddenly from the forest a boy appeared running bounding and screaming "Hey, don't disturb that woman....!"
That's Dipa. Apparently he couldn't hold back his heart seeing the indecent actions of the two soldiers. He was determined to get out.
Suta turned and Arga stopped. Both of them were stunned to see a boy arriving in front of them "Eh, what are you doing? Get lost" Suta shouted as he approached Dipa.
"Suta, beat up that kid. I'm going to get into the thicket of bushes over there," said Arga while continuing the steps that were blocked earlier.
"Stop.....!" Dipa shouted at Arga. He was about to come forward but Suta quickly greeted him with a slap "Satan, you dare to disturb our fun!"
Even though his attention is on Arga, Dipa is never unaware of Suta's threats. With a move taught by the brahmin Anuraga before, he dodged to the side.
"Ho, you dare me!" Suta was getting angry because his slap missed. He jumped to pounce on the child.
Dipa slipped to the side again and chased Arga. Argo had to stop. He quickly turned around as he swung his leg kicking the child. But Dipa also quickly receded.
"Hey little devil, I'll rip your head off!" suddenly Suta also jumped with a pouncing motion.
Suta's attack had to be considered. Dipapun jumped to the side. And because of that, Arga also has the opportunity to take another step
"Hey, let go of that woman!" Dipa still didn't want to let go. The soldier took the woman into a thicket of trees. He chased the soldier again.
Arga is furious and annoyed. While spinning his body and kicking, he scolded Suta "Suta, why can't you just beat up a small child?"
Suta's face was red, he cried "Go away, brother. Leave this little devil to me.....!" with a lunge, both hands hit Dipa in unison.
Dipa had to jump out of the way. Then he also jumped to catch Arga who was running into the bush. He didn't want to walk but ran to avoid Dipa's disturbance. He also believed that Suta would be able to crush the child. So this time he didn't want to pay attention to Dipa who was chasing him from behind.
Dipa was determined, no matter what the consequences, he had to save the woman from the hands of the two soldiers. Using the steps taught by Anuraga, he dodged and then slipped and kept jumping to catch up. Still less than three steps from where Arga was, Dipa mustered up his strength and jumped into the soldier's waist. He managed to grip Arga's sarong. And the soldier was powerless to block it because both of his hands were holding the woman's body....
Suddenly Sutapun jumped to hit Dipa's back. This time the movement was very fast. Before Dipa could plan his back, he was already punched by Suta, thump!!
Braattt.....Dipa fell down. But because he was still gripping Arga's cloth as tightly as he could, the soldier's cloth was torn and still held in Dipa's hand when the child rolled on the ground.
"Huh...." Arga screamed in surprise because his pants were sagging down. He was forced to put the woman's body on the ground. After fixing his pants, he turned around, pulled out his trident ax and continued to jump across Dipa's body.
Dipa couldn't move. Suta's impact made his head dizzy, eyes twinkling.....

"HAI.... where am I!" shouted Dipa for a moment he opened his eyes and found himself lying in a cave-like rocky room.
But there was no reply and he quickly got up. After looking around, the impression became clearer that this place was indeed a rock cave. He was astonished and mumbled, sinking into the depths of his memory. Barley last night he fought with two soldiers who were about to commit indecency against a woman. But why is that obedient he is in a cave? Where are the two soldiers and the woman…..?
He got up and continued to walk to the mouth of the cave. Ah, almost widened her eyes at the sight outside. The four corners of the vast land were decorated with burial mounds. A kind of small forest of smboja trees that are in the middle of a spoiled flower.
he was stunned. In another flash, his mind was quickly occupied by a series of thoughts. Yes, there was no way he could be in the cave there if no one was taking him. And his helper must have saved his soul from the persecution of the two ferocious warriors..,..
Since receiving the help of the brahmin Anuraga, then the grandfather of Suryanata, Dipa already has the awareness that he has to give thanks to those who help him. Leaving the cave before meeting the person who helped him, is not the behavior of someone who knows kindness.
His intention to step outside the cave was cancelled. He went back into the cave, waiting for the person who helped him.
To pass the time, he sat cross-legged, practiced the art of breathing and focused his mind-looking up the bridge of his nose. Just started to take a breath, suddenly his ears caught a sound of someone breathing slowly.
Dipa was surprised and broke his concentration, looked around the corner. And as fast as that, he almost moved from his seat because he was stimulated by a shock. He clearly saw that at the far corner of the cave there was an old man sitting in meditation.
A bald-headed grandfather. His mustache and beard were white, hanging down covering his lips. His eyes are closed, his feet are bent in a cross, his hands are fixed in the mudra.
Dipa really surprised. He was ashamed in his own heart why he had not been able to see that old man since earlier. But secretly he was grateful that he did not leave the cave.
Immediately arises his desire to continue talking with the grandfather. But he realized that the grandfather was meditating. Disturbing people who are meditating, is impolite and sinful.
Finally, after a long time, the grandfather had not opened his eyes, Dipa was forced to dare to say hello "Grandpa.... I'm sorry...."
The grandfather suddenly laughed hoarsely "You are innocent, no need to apologize...."
Dipa's courage grew bigger after hearing the words of the grandfather who had a friendly tone, he cried "Grandpa, of course he helped me..."
"Because I feel sorry for you"
"Then where are the two soldiers and the woman?" asked Dipa too.
"The two soldiers ran away. Maybe out of embarrassment they couldn't finish my pliers," said the unknown grandfather, pointing to a stick stuck in his side.
“O . . . .” Dipa snorted in surprise mixed with surprise. Sneaked his eyes towards the thing that grandfather meant. It is true. Only a stick stuck in the ground near the old man's seat. Dipa's surprise arose instantly. A stick from the sheath of ordinary coconut leaves. But can be embedded in the ground from the rock padas. But there was also a speck of doubt in his heart. The soldier's trident ax made of sharp steel was unable to break through the stick.
Even if he didn't ask, it seems that the grandfather got it
read the wrinkles on Dipa's face "It's hard to force
trust before proving yourself. Come here
you...."
Somehow, the grandfather's orders had authority that forced Dipa to obey. He stepped forward in front of the grandfather "This stick is indeed not just any stick. This stick is called 'Sodo lanang', an heirloom from Empu Barada. Try to pull out the stick that is stuck in the ground! If you can, you are indeed destined for that stick and take the heirloom "
Dipa's spirit arises. His eyes looked oily. He felt that since childhood he has great power. Because of that great power, people gave him the title The Elephant. And he remembered, when several years ago he had lifted a heavy idol of the god Ganesha. He has confidence that he will be able to pull out the stuck stick. Even so, he did not want to boast and with humility he said "I'll try it, hopefully it will work..."
With exertion, Dipa started to block the stick with one hand and then he jerked as hard as he could. Ah.... he's shy himself. The stick did not move at all.
The unknown grandpa laughed "Use your two hands"
Dipa complied. Now he gripped the stick with both hands and after exerting all his strength, he started to pull as hard as he could "Uh . . . uh . . . uh ... ." Up to two or three times he tried to pull, but to no avail. Her face was bright red.
The old man laughed lightly "You don't need to be embarrassed. Because the two soldiers couldn't even pull out the stick that I stuck into the ground. Because they lost their promise, they finally left and didn't bother the woman anymore."
“O . . . .” snorted Dipa "so the two soldiers have left? Then where is that woman?"
"The woman returned to her village"
"Can the two soldiers be trusted not to chase that woman again?" Dipa expressed his doubts.
"Probably not and hopefully not" said the grandfather "because twice he suffered shocking incidents. First, when they slashed with their weapons, I slashed them with the stick and rigged their weapons. Then I ordered them to pull out the sticks that I stuck into the ground and they could not. Finally they apologized and left "
"Grandpa didn't beat them up?" Dipa asked.
The grandfather smiled "They haven't done anything that deserves punishment. Failing to kill you and failing to force the woman. Then they realize their mistake. This awareness is more important than the law. Awareness will return their minds to the right path. But punishment It will only lead to their hatred and it must be understood that this atmosphere often changes people's minds.
More of a war atmosphere. Passion reigns supreme, freedom is unrestrained, law is not respected. They think that victory is an opportunity to indulge lust. A pride that demands pleasure and enjoyment. But that is wrong…..”
The old man closed his eyes and took a small breath "But that victory has various consequences. Victory will give rise to hatred, those who lose live in sorrow. And that sadness will cause hatred.
Dipa was amazed in the pseudo sense. He heard clearly what the grandfather said. But they don't understand the meaning implied in those words. Who wins, who loses and who indulges in pleasure and who is tormented by the sorrows of hatred?
He had heard from his grandfather's caretaker about the impending war between the Majapahit royal troops and the Mandana people. He suspected that the royal troops would win the battle and the two Majapahit warriors feasted on their lust for women from the land of Mandana who were defeated. To confirm his suspicions, he asked "Grandpa, has the war between Majapahit and the land of Mandana ended? Did the royal troops win?"
"It's true" the grandfather agreed "outwardly, the Majapahit kingdom has been able to defeat the people of Mandana who were accused of wanting to rebel. But I doubt, does the destruction of the Mandana land and the death of thousands of Madana people mean that the Mandana area is subject to the Majapahit kingdom?"
"Everyone who loses is of course subject to those who win. Every region that loses must also obey those who defeated it," Dipa argued.
The old man laughed "I have said, winning outwardly, that's true. But a brilliant victory, not just a victory over strength and violence. But a sincere victory in the heart and soul, surrender and pure. That is the most beautiful...."
Dipa is getting dumbfounded. He did not understand what was called victory as the grandfather said. He is still too young to receive a heavy lesson.
"I do not understand, grandfather" he said bluntly.
"Ha, ha" the old man laughed "it's not easy to understand that. There are three levels of understanding. First, seek understanding. Second, know that understanding and third, understand that understanding"
Seeing Dipa gaping, the old man quickly realized that he had penetrated too deep into the child's consciousness. And it's pointless. Because the time has not yet come for such a small child to reveal something that has not yet been achieved.Download Novelah App
