Unexpected 35: Understanding

Zandy slowly sat on the sofa when we got home. He was still grimacing because of the pain in his back caused by the lightning materials falling to him.
"Would you like us to hire a personal nurse who can take care of you?" Aunt Mandy asked as she sat down. Perhaps it feels sorry for the child's situation.
"Personal nurse? 'Mom, I'm not yet crippled to be taken care of by others. I can take care of myself," Zandy immediately protested.
"Zandy is right, mom, I'm here to take care of Zandy," I said, embarrassed by the last words.
Aunt Mandy's smile widened when she heard from me. "Are you willing to take care of my son, hija? I mean, you have your work, isn't that busy?"
I smiled. "No, mom, I'm the reason why Zandy became like that. I'm responsible for taking care of him," I said that was true to me. I want to take care of him so that at least I can make up for what he did to me.
Aunt Mandy's face brightened. "Wow! That's the wife," she praised. "Thank you, Miles."
I just smile. I turned to Zandy for a moment and saw his serious face watching us. He didn't say a word either.
"By the way, 'Mom, isn't dad going to visit Zandy?' I asked as I remembered Uncle Andrew whom I had never seen again.
Aunt Mandy smiled. I turned to Zandy, and he bowed. I frowned in surprise. Did something happen to them? "Ah! What...your father is busy with business, so he can't visit. Let me, when his schedule is a little looser, I will bring him here," she answered.
"Alright, mom," I just said and didn't ask anything else because the ambiance suddenly changed because I mentioned uncle Andrew. Couldn't the father and son have fought again?
Aunt Mandy stayed there for a while, before deciding to go home. I even took her outside the house and watched her leave. I went back inside the house and found Zandy still on the sofa, he was leaning on it with his eyes closed.
I've been curious and wanted to ask what happened to uncle Andrew and Zandy, but I feel like I'm not in the right place to ask.
"Are you hungry, Zandy? I'll cook for you," I said.
"I'm not hungry, I ate earlier in the hospital," he answered with his eyes closed. "You can go to your room and rest, I can take care of myself," he added seriously.
I didn't say anything right away. I slowly sat on the sofa near him and looked at him seriously. I want to formally thank him because I haven't done that yet. I mustered up the courage because the truth is I don't know why I was nervous. I sighed.
"Zandy," I said. I even bit my lower lip.
"Hmm!" his eyes are still not open.
"I don't know how to say it, Zandy, but thank you so much for saving me. Honestly, I'm ashamed of you because even though I scolded you, you still saved me. Thank you and sorry," I said. full of courage. "I'm not saying this because I feel guilty, I mean it, Zandy," I added.
Zandy slowly opened his face and raised his head against the sofa. He looked directly at me with a serious face. "Well, like you, I don't know why I did that. Maybe because I'm responsible to you the day when we got married." He stopped talking and looked away from me. "I also want to say sorry for the things I said to you that hurt you. I didn't mean to hurt you, I just want you to realize things that would benefit you," he added.
I don't know the words to throw at him. My eyes stayed on his serious face that was not looking directly at me. I don't know but something tickled my heart because of what he said. There was joy in that we finally understood some things.
"Go ahead and rest," he said at the same time after the silence. "Don't worry I can handle myself."
I blinked. I couldn't stop smiling so I bent down for a moment to hide it. "I won't let you go to your room alone," I said that I didn't know why I was so worried.
Zandy's eyes narrowed. "Then, ok fine," he agreed and couldn't escape the smile that appeared on his lips even though it was almost a little.
I stood up from sitting. I rarely came close to him because I felt like every time we touched, I was getting burned. I'm also not used to us being this close and not looking at each other.
Zandy stood up slowly. I even saw him grimacing because of the pain in his back so I quickly attended to him and supported his arm to stand up. I don't know but my heart suddenly beat when I touched him. I smelled his natural smell that was delicious to the nose.
"Can you walk?" I couldn't even look him in the eyes.
He nodded. "I can, Miles," he replied. He gently took his arm back from me and started walking slowly. I was left watching him. I do not understand what I'm feeling. Am I being nice to Zandy? Will we understand each other? Is this the beginning of our good relationship?
I blinked and tried to shake those thoughts away. I saw Zandy going up the stairs. I quickly walked towards him. Zandy was about to take a step when I grabbed his arm. "Let me help you," I said.
He just looked at me. He didn't say a word and let me help him up. With every step of our feet, I could feel the trembling in my chest. There is something in me that causes that.
I let go of him when we got up the stairs and distanced myself from him. Why am I feeling this way?
Zandy stepped forward again. I was surprised when he was almost out of balance. I quickly approached him and held him by the waist to support him.
"Sh*t," I heard him curse.
Only then did I realize our position? I hugged him and because Zandy was taller than me, I couldn't see the reaction on his face. I could feel his tight stomach and smell his natural scent.
I quickly let him go without looking at him directly. I also moved away from him a little. I am ashamed of what happened.
"A-are you ok, Zandy?" I asked worriedly.
"Yeah! I'm fine," he said. Then he walked again. He walks straight, maybe it's just because of the back pain that he walks slowly.
I followed him until Zandy reached his room. He entered there. I fixed his bed first before he sat there.
"I'm gonna go, Zandy. Take a rest," I said and quickly turned around. I was about to take a step when he spoke.
"Thank you, Miles."
I feel like I'm going to melt. I don't know, but pity appeared in my heart because of Zandy's sincere thanks. I didn't speak anymore. I quickly left the room and went straight to my room, unable to understand my feelings.
