"Oww god. How can we picnic here when we don't have food?" Ayden and Noah smile at one other.
"LET'S GO!" Ayden unlocks the door while Noah holds my hand. "We were done packing the food." Noah returns to the car and retrieves the food. While Garry and I play rock and paper scissors, Ayden... I'm not sure what he's up to.
The door opened quickly, revealing a struggling Noah. Before standing up and assisting him with the basket full of food, I chuckle. He stared at me while I utter, "I thought you were working out?"
"Only Ayden, not me." I laugh. They are, by the way, extremely irritable.
"When Gabby finds someone who has muscle, she might divorce you." He flashed me a death glare, but there's something about him that makes him frightened of losing someone. His look makes me laugh out loud. "Noah, you should see your face right now."
"That's enough, let's get started." I enthusiastically clap my fingers and begin to put the smooth cloth on the grass, picking the banana first and then eating it.
"Who came up with this idea?"
"Ayden."
"Why" Ayden's eyes widen, stopping him from eating his sandwich.
"You're asking me why?" I gave him a beautiful and bewildered grin. The man bending over like he was about to strike me said, "When did we last see each other? Huh? When?"
"I'm not sure."
"Lira, are you serious?" I giggle uncomfortably. Noah faked a scream as he walked away. "We hadn't seen each other in like three years!"
"I'm busy in college, and you know I have a problem, right? That Hunter... And then after graduation, I'm busy seeking a job," I said, scowling at them. Noah took a step back and patted me on the back.
"I'm fine,"
"I'm not asking," I rolled my eyes, irritate
"I mean, it's okay," he defence.
"So, what did you do after college?" I sigh and gaze at them both. I tell them everything that has transpired since I moved into my apartment, including how I ended up in Hunter's area. Although I informed them of the party occurred where I first saw him again, but I did not inform them that Hunter wanted to sleep in his room with me.
Ayden and Noah give each other a high five.
"If you don't stop doing that, I'll never treat you like my relatives again." They stop smiling and nod their heads in comprehension but exaggeration. "Seriously," I think to myself as I facepalm.
With his arms held wide on both sides. "You said you let faith do their job?" Ayden replied. "Then here it is..." Noah smiles as he nods.
"Does the card say it's true?" I ask while they furrow their brows. "Shane advised me to take a test with a fortune teller, which I did; the grandma predicted that I will meet and already have met my soulmate while learning new things and traveling."
While I cringe, they begin to shriek. "Why? What happened?" I'm perplexed.
"I can't believe you're numb and blind, Alexandria!" Noah exclaimed.
"How could you—I'm older than you, and you should treat me with respect."
He was already killing me inside my skull, so I cursed him under my breath. "Na ah. Until you can see and feel again."
"The words of that grandma should have made you clearer, but I guess they have made you more confused." He sighs before speaking again, and I nod. I always adore him more than Noah. "You mentioned you had feelings for him, right?" I raise my brows, wondering whether he'll taunt me again and refuse to assist me.
"Who is the first thing that comes to mind when someone says, 'You will meet your soulmate while studying new things in school or traveling?'" I glance at the sky, fingers on my chin. When I'm thinking about something, this is my habit.
I reminisced about that day. "No one," I say, slowly shaking my head as I gaze at Ayden. Noah stares at me. While Ayden puts the sandwich into the basket, he seems like he doesn't want to believe what happened before him.
I'm bewildered as I look at them. What's the matter with my words? "Are you serious, b*tch?"
I exclaim, flicking my fingers, "Ow, I remember now, it's Patrick!" Their expression changes to something dismal.
"Hunter didn't come to mind first?" they sigh, and I shook my head.
"Unbelievable."
"I'm not going to beat about the bush starting today," Noah remarked, "because I'm losing my patience right now." He turns to Ayden. "Hunter Clifford is the one for you; you're both destined." I sarcastically chuckled at them.
"Stop saying it, we're not," I denied. "Why do you need to add insult to injury? I can't believe you guys."
No longer looking at me, Noah added, "Here we are again, after many years we have to deal with in denial girl."
"I'm thinking, when did you meet Hunter? School, right?" I think about it again. "What are you doing? Probably studying," he says, motioning his hand to me. "What did he do for the first time?" Hunter did bully me for the first time. "Say something that makes you stop and look at him, right?" he asks, gesturing to me. How can he say it like he really knew what was happening? I told him there's a guy who's telling me I am ugly and fat and that makes me annoy... but I never told him that it's Hunter.
All of this, he can't possibly say. Is he telling the whole truth? What if he's joking about me? The card, however, always speaks the truth, according to Shane. I'm well-educated, but I'm not very good at playing cards or guessing on the internet.
When my expression changed, he seems very content. "You both are destined. The faith you were saying is already making their move since last year and it is happening in front of your eyes yet you were blind and can't see it." How can he be sure? Is he a cupid? The cupid must be so stupid for playing with us if everything is really true that we're destined. "Going here for your studies wasn't just accidental, the day you both graduated and he left you wasn't accidental. It is testing the both of yous love for each other, the long where you can resist not having each other nearby."
"Of course, I won't," I said. Noah facepalm, while Ayden let out a deep sigh.
With a smile on their faces, Ayden and Noah gaze at each other. "Faith test the thread you both had in your pinky fingers. If it breaks, you pair with the wrong guy; if it doesn't break while being stretched, he is the excellent partner for you!" I almost laugh at their lame, crazy words. " In order to meet you both again, faith did their task of putting the string back close to each other. They didn't want to stretch the string any more, so they did their job of meeting you both again." I can't take it anymore and just laugh my ass out.
"You're good at story telling, you should be teaching kinder gardeners, not college." They both look at each other before Noah just face palmed himself.
His words, on the other hand, stay in my thoughts. It prompted a lot of profound reflection in me—it can be, but it's also impossible. Hunter and I are indistinguishable from one another. I also don't treat him as if he were a close friend. I'm afraid I'll have to acknowledge to my affections for him.
"90 percent of boys teasing their crushes to get their attention, and Hunter is a boy, I believe at the time," he said while I shake my head.
"He is always a boy," I retorted. Hunter will never be a man. That childish brat, tss.
"He is a man," Ayden said.
"How can you say it?"
"Because he is mature."
"You would call a guy who's literally sticking with a fake girl for almost years now and a bitchy?" I scoff, "yeah, he will..."
"Well, you can believe your own words." Ayden gave up with a heavy sighed.
In response, Noah stated: "Let me tell you, you have feelings for him. His name is tattooed in your heart, but your mind can't accept it." Because they are my family, it's impossible that they were lying to me because they both love and care for me. However, I believe it was a possibility.
Given that they've each had a girlfriend for over a year, I can't trust them in this position.
"Right now, I'm perplexed by my emotions." I look down, annoyed. What is the point of going through this?
"Everything will be OK if you admit to yourself that you desire him," Ayden says. I stare at Ayden for a moment before breaking down in tears.
"I don't want to," I sob. "He's taken, and I don't want to hurt myself even more. What if I say it and he doesn't feel the same way? What if I tell him I love him and all I get in return is rejection?" I sob.
"Nothing is wrong with rejection, Lira. Come on and admit your love, the heart always says the truth, the head says it's a lie," Ayden said, hugging me.
Noah's unexpected crack jokes make me laugh. His jokes will never get old for me. I was the first to get out of the car. I went to the backseat to assist Noah in removing Garry from his seat, since he was falling asleep on the way home.
It was also 7 p.m., and Noah decided it was time to go to bed. "So you guys will sleep here?" I carry Garry and place his head on my shoulder.
"You don't want us to live here?" Ayden sighs bitterly.
I whisper-shout, "I want, I'm simply asking!" They both cracked a grin.
