“You really are a great help, Anne. We will always be grateful for having you throughout our stay here.” ‘Be thankful that I ain’t a human. Because if I am, I might consider charging you a fine.’ Her coffee cooled down and so is her raging regrets. Planning helps, she thought. “I’ll talk to Euno then,” she uttered as she drank it all up. Anne remained standing in front of her. Secretly getting excited about what will happen next. She can already see how the organization will fall into the new Captain’s leadership. ‘If I were you, Lux, I will be more cautious now. To this woman the most,’ she thought inwardly. — Euno almost ran as she glanced on his watch and shows that he’s already minutes late to meet Eve. Catching his breath, he stopped in front of her office. “Anne, tell the Captain I am already here.” ‘Copy!’ He wonders what failure had he ever did this time to be called in her office early in the morning. Without hearing a word from Eula when she was called the other day, it turmoiled his inner peace, thinking that they really have done something so disappointing. “Captain!” He saluted as soon as he appeared. “Have a seat.” The woman commanded without looking at him. She seems to be still busy examining the debris from the Asteroid AE–010E. “What can I do for you today, Captain?” he asked nervously. He shook his head furtively. Position never get tired on trembling him. “Good thing you asked. That is what I called you here for.” He straightened up. Whatever favor it is, he knows it is something he should not belittle. “Ask away, Ma’am!” He insisted. “I wanted to know who are your foster parents are, Head Euno.” That stiffened him. He wasn’t expecting for her to ask him about his personal matters. “Don’t worry. It’s just that I need it for our mission.” “Mission?” he repeated to the last word. “Yes. You have heard it right.” “What mission—” “I will tell you about it after you answered my question.” He gulped. He was strictly told not to tell anyone about them, but Eve is a trustworthy person, he thought and calmed himself. “They are…” He breathes in as he looked at her. “They are both secret agents. My mom is Jean Johnson and my old man is Finley Johnson.” Eve watched the young man carefully. It seems to be so unacceptable for him to consider them as his parents. “What are they working on before you were sent here?” “They weren’t the one who ordered me to get in here. They are working on something about a huge dealing of drugs that time if my memory serves me right. The organization they’re working with, they’re the one who has ordered me. Believe me. I didn’t accept it to cause a fuss here. I wanted to live a normal life. My parents know that. That’s why even though we don’t know what awaits me here, they preferred sending me here thinking that it would not take me long to stay in this place,” he explained lengthy. “Go on. I am listening.” “I was ordered to look for Denise…” he paused and looked away. “Which I have found out was Head Epharil,” he then continued. “Disposing her was the mission I was given. Which is obviously I didn’t do. What do you need about them anyway, Captain?” He glanced at her again, confused. “Epharil was originally sent to our team to spy on us. To know who among us are moles from the outside world. It was Lux who’s behind her. But, she chose us and turned her back on them—the boss and the uppers. She told them she was the mole in this team on the last day of our mission. I was just thinking. If they know her whereabouts, and have already found out her foster parents who happened to be your foster parents, too; then, they might be the target of the organization now. If so, their lives is highly at risk these days. Just hope that they won’t find out about you. Because if they do that will be the doom’s day of our lives.” “What do you mean?” he whispered. “We have to act ahead of them and gather more informations against them or else, the truth will be forever unknown to the people outside who are seeking the truth about what is happening here.” “What should we do then?” “What do you think?” “Kill them?” “That is so impossible to do in just twelve days, Euno! And I allow no crime to do this. But if we come to the point that we have to, that is the only time that we’ll do,” she blurted in so mush disgust. “I am sorry. I am not into such. The very reason I was somehow actually thankful for joining this organization.” “Our fallen officers have already done enough and all we have to do is to continue to where they have stopped. I already have a plan, but I can’t tell you yet about that.” He nodded as he listened well. Eve rarely gets serious and once she is, it means it is really something he should really be paying attention to. “I understand, Captain.” “Very good. How’s the progress of your conditioning?” “I feel no change so far. How about you?” “I am doing well. How about the others?” “I am not sure, but they seemed to be in good shape, too.” “By the way, before I forget, don’t tell anyone about this. It is just the two of us who knows what we have talked about here today. Are we clear?” “Yes, Ma’am!” he controlled himself not to stutter. “Call Eula. Tell her I need her presence here. I have something for her to do.” “How about us?” “Just standby. I will ask Anne to notify you in case needed.” “Copy, Captain!” He stood up and was already ready to dismiss himself when she looked at him questioningly. “Where are you going?” “Nowhere.” He sat back. “Announce to the rest of our members to give me their journals.” “Captain?!” “Their journals. Tell them to send it to me.” “But those are their personal belongings. Are you doubting them? Do you suspect us?” he muttered. “Nope. Never did I suspected anyone of you.” “But why?” “I just need to confirm something.” “Is this has something to do with the mission you’re talking about earlier?” “Yes.” “Okay then.” “Tell them to give it to me personally. I want to talk to them.” Still confused, he nodded, knowing that she won’t change her command. “I will.” “You are dismissed, then.” She glanced at him and the door behind him. As swiftly as he could, he left with tons of questions. Hoping he didn’t expose his foster parents’ identity for them to get involved in the organization’s heinous doings.
