She smiles once again issuing back her words to me, "tell me the truth! Who is Darren to you apart from being your boss?". In air quotes, she says anticipating my come back.
I took a step backward and knew she trying to find words from my mouth and later on when aunt comes back from the hospital, she will run off to tell her, which might instigate aunt against me, and I need not want that to happen.
I veered the nearest way upstairs and walked away to my room, leaving her in turmoil.
(Following morning)...
The whole day ran by the speed of light, it was precisely 8:44 pm, and I had just minutes more to get ready for Darren's family party.
I veered downstairs after getting dressed and saw aunt was just returning from the hospital. She lifts her head and saw that I was dressed up for an occasion.
I noted that before I left I needed to explain myself before taking off, I veered to the side and saw Tori next to her and her being here would prevent me from speaking to aunt. Luckily aunt knew what to do exactly, she sends Tori to get her a cup of water, as she walks off into the kitchen after shooting me a suspicious glare.
I waited till she veered far away before telling aunt the truth,.she was foreseeing to hear, I told on everything, hiding no information from her, aunt wore a serious look after heeding to my explanation before conceding back to me, she says " it's good that Darren has started to trust you! But be careful whenever you're with him or his family because a little slip-up can send everything we have worked for, go straight to hell! Do you understand?".
I shoot my head answering back, she veers and saw Tori ambling out from the kitchen, quickly she signals I go before, her daughter comes to sniff the truth out of me.
So, without hesitation I rushed out and drove away, Tori hoisted her head and saw I was nowhere to be found, she inquires from aunt who walks away ignoring her words.
(10:00pm)..
They were too much traffic on the streets, so that delayed me from getting to the party earlier.
I packed my car and walked into the house, it felt like the scent of my perfume lingered around, it turned the guest's attention to me.
Darren noticed the sudden change in the atmosphere, he veered his head and saw me standing at the front door.
Immediately his face lits up after noticing me there, he walks closer and hugs me, "thanks for coming!". He whispers to my ears as we walked in, hands linked together.
Darren brought me to his parents and introduced them to me, darens father, kept a straight face at me, ever since I walked into his son's office without knocking, the man has become bitter, wonders what happens when he finds out the truth about my identity.
"Welcome my dear".  Darren's mom, Ravi warmly placed a kiss on my cheeks, apparently she was the only one happy to see me there.
Smith calls the attention of his son, as they both walk away, Daren kept a straight face talking to his father, who shoots a side glance at me, it got me uncomfortable, thus, I had no option but to walk afar from his creepy gaze.
I sat at the bar section alone with my thoughts, exactly not an hour-long, I noticed a presence behind me, as I turned decerning Darren's dad quietly staring at me.
"good day sir! Do you need anything?". I asked as he answers back with another question, "who are you?" He says geeking suspiciously at me.
I choked up heeding to his words, has it found out about my real identity or his just being suspicious about me?... So many questions ran through my mind, I had no option but to blatantly tell a lie without any atom of doubtful feeling draping around me, I said" my name is Karol Fisher, I lost my parents while I was younger, so l live to with, my aunt!".
Come to think of it, which was not a entirely a lie.
Smith's suspicious glare kept growing strong, he fills up the distance between us and walks past after being satisfied with my answer.
I veered back and saw him amble upstairs, I buffed a relief breath, not quite long Darren walk up to me and asked with a warm smile, "do you want to dance?".
He tugged his hands out, idling to see my reaction, I thought it wise that it was best to blend in, so, I took his hand as he dragged me to the dance floor.
(Dancing floor) ....
We dance, fixing the eyes of the guest who stopped and watched us dance. Darren stares deeply into my eyes, he tugged me close to himself and cutely bent his head over, my eyes widened up thinking he was going for a kiss, rather he pulls my hair up and whispers to my eyes, "meet me in my room, in an hour, I am a surprise for you!". (He walks away, pointing out the directions to his room.
A while later, it's been an hour, I sneaked upstairs without letting eyes pay attention to me, most especially Mr. Smith himself.
I weaved the door to his room and walked in to see that the room was decorated with flowers and I huge sign that reads, "please marry me, miss Karol Fisher".
Seeing such a sign made no sense to me, it's either Darren was mistaken me for someone else or I was literally in the wrong room, quickly I veered back to leave when suddenly a hand weaves me back and pinned me to the wall.
"D... Darren" I stuttered out my words, as he pokes his lips closer to mine, the intensity of his gaze felt like a burning desire was gradually arising from my body, I closed my eyes trying to lock up any wired feeling's, abruptly I took heed of his voice, he says" I have a proposal for you!", He moves back creating a distance between us. I Veered and raised a question, "what proposal?".
Darren smile's seeing how curious I was, anticipating to hear the sudden proposal he has for me, he retorts back, "I want us to get married! For a couple of three months then after that we will go our separate ways!".
I jerked my head in disapproval, "are you mad?" I said draping a startled look on my face. He snarls to me before answering back, "I know it's crazy but we won't be getting married for real, I just need someone to help me attain my inheritance from my dad, he says I won't get anything that belongs to me if I don't get married with three months.
"No! I cannot do it". For the second time, I declined his offer, rather Darren pleads I think about it before returning my final answer to him.
I shook my head taking heed of his words, as we both returned to the party.
Ravi, Darren's mom saw us the second we veered into the party, she shoots a smile at us and gestured out to me, "please come". She signal waving her to me, I wonder why she called, but only one way to find out.
