“Is that the reason why you were gone for a long time?” Letty’s voice almost broke when she asked her friend.
If I am not mistaken, he’s Letty’s friend. The one I got a crush on when I was still in elementary. Loel was one of the reasons why I didn’t get along well with Letty before. I thought they were in a relationship.
Loel walked forward towards her but Letty took a step backward.
“You’re shameless. You’ll just appear in front of us when you need food!” I don’t know if I must laugh at Letty’s words but I still chose not to do so. Their conversation’s too serious.
“Letty, the truth is, Loel has been asking for food here just like his comrades,” Abel defended.
Letty will not know about that, of course, because she’s usually at the mansion and Abel was the only one who’s left here.
“What happened to you? You didn’t even tell me that you’ll leave.” Letty’s eyes were filled with sadness as she stared straight at Loel’s eyes.
She sometimes mentioned, while we were chatting on Facebook, that she badly misses her friend. She doesn’t know whether he left her or if he just doesn’t have any spare time to talk to her.
“I must be accustomed to using firearms,” he said while looking at the long gun he’s holding.
“Do you really think you’ll achieve justice with that?” Letty said, the tone of her voice was filled with disappointment.
“Violence is not always the solution. There families here as well that some of their members were killed, but they didn’t rebel.” My chest suddenly aches after hearing what Letty has said.
I don’t understand what exactly she meant but why does it feel like I’m involved?
“I’ll be leaving.” Abel held his shoulder and then gave him a pack of vegetables and meat from the refrigerator.
“Do you really have to involve that person as well?” Tears started to flow out from Letty’s eyes and so Abel almost instantly comforted her.
Loel bitterly smiled at her. I don’t only feel my chest aching but it also feels heavy as well. I am hurting because of whatever they were talking about.
“Shy would I drag that person into this mess? I know that person knows nothing and was not involved. Don’t worry about that person.” Loel gently patted Letty before he left.
I saw how my friend’s knees weakened. As much as I want to step outside to comfort her, I decided not to do so because of her instruction.
Her sobs were in sync with the crickets outside the house. I didn’t notice that I fell asleep while listening to her sobs.
“Wake up! It’s already afternoon!” Someone smacked a pillow on my face, causing me to be wide awake.
I rubbed my eyes and stretched my back.
“What time is it?” My eyes were blinking, as if still sleepy, as I looked at her.
“It’s 2:00 in the afternoon already!” After I heard her reply, I hurriedly went inside the bathroom.
It took me half an hour before I was done taking a bath. I didn’t get to wash my body last night because I was tired. Mama instructed me that I must not wash myself if I’m too tired.
When I was tidying myself, I went to the kitchen. It seems like I woke up not long after the two did.
It is because I noticed that Abel was preparing his coffee while he was in a deep thought. He failed to notice that he was stirring it not carefully. It seems like there’ll be no left inside the cup if he won’t bring himself back from his own reverie.
Letty, on the other hand, was busy preparing our meal on the table. She smiled when she saw me standing while waiting for them to be done on whatever they’re doing.
“Abel, why are you acting like Sabado De Gloria?” I asked as I pulled a chair for myself and then took a sip from his cup.
He softly slapped my hand when he finally brought himself back from his own reverie.
“Is there no Sunday De Gloria?” He even managed to joke around.
Letty sat on her seat as well. She was about to place food on my plate but I beat her on doing so. I am not sick. She doesn’t have to do that to me.
“Tsk. Why are you acting like that anyway? When in fact, it was you who enjoyed the part the most.”
The whole night, he didn’t do anything but dance and dance and then dance. He seemed like he was going to die the next day. Both him and his sister were drunk last night. I wonder if Letty remembers it. She might really regret it.

Even though the two were like that, they still looked cute. How I wish I also had an older brother.
“Hmm. I really wish you remembered what you did last night.” Abel laughed and so he earned a pinch on his shoulder from Letty.
“I only remembered that Cade and Piper danced for half an hour.” The two looked at me teasingly.
“Letty, I think you should hurry now.” I hurriedly ate.
“Oh, right! We were supposed to bring snacks for Cade—I mean for the farmers.” She’s fond of teasing me now just because we were not at the mansion and she’s with her older brother.
“It’s for all of the farmers, not just for Casimiro,” I defended. It was what I really planned. Under the heat of the sun and their work’s difficult as well, they all deserved to be treated well.
“Was it really Casimiro or Cade? You usually call him Casimiro. Sometimes Cade. I don’t understand,” Letty asked. Abel, on the other hand, answered as if he thought of something perfect.

“So you already have a call sign. Finish your food already, Piper. Because just like what you said, we will be delivering snacks for the farmers. They might be hungry. I really just hope this will not reach your parents’ ears,” Letty stated after she scooped rice.
“So what if they’ll know about this?” The siblings looked at each other.
“Ah. Hmm. Haha! Letty was just joking?” Abel forced a smile.
In fact, I’m sure Papa’s going to be happy because his heiress is nice towards his employees.
