Chapter 87

At the Silva Mansion, Luna Maurice, Arnold, and Bradley face each other in the living room. The latter explains what happened on the beach while the two listen intently.
“Are you sure it’s Leila? Then why is she not returning to us?” Luna Maurice asked after a few seconds of silence.
Bradley shook his head. “That’s also what I’m wondering about. Why she’s not coming back to us? And the other puzzle is- whose vehicle is she using?”
Everyone is silent while thinking about the possibility of what happened.
“Maybe she hid first because of what happened?” Luna Maurice said, while frowning.
Bradley immediately shook his head. “No, Leila will contact us if that’s the reason...”
“Bradley is right. Leila will surely contact you if that is the case.” Arnold agreed while looking at Maurice. “The only possibility I see is that what happened to me happened to her—Leila forgot her identity...”
Bradley and Maurice were momentarily stunned by what Arnold pointed out. Both of them weighed the event.
“From what I saw earlier, probably that is the right answer...” Bradley uttered after thinking. “Then what should we do? We can’t just wait and do nothing!”
“If the council finds out what happened to Leila, it will be a big problem... They didn’t like Bradley’s participation in the tournament—” Luna Maurice warned as she put her hand on her head at the problem they were facing.
“I don’t care! The council can’t do anything once I exercise my power over them!” Bradley retorted while his fists were clenched.
“It’s better if we keep this confidential. Let’s find Leila privately so as not to attract attention... Let’s make it appear that Leila studied abroad, to avoid the council’s queries.” Arnold proposed, and Luna Maurice instantly agreed.
“If we keep it a secret, our search will take longer...” Bradley’s reasoning disagrees with Hunter’s opinion. A few days of Leila’s absence are equivalent to a few years of misery for him.
“You said Leila is well and unharmed... So it’s better that way. You know many people want to get her, don’t you? So if the news regarding Leila’s memory loss comes out—”
“Fine! But we need some help with the search... The city is too wide for the three of us—” Bradley reasoned while his hands were outstretched and his forehead was furrowed.
“Don’t worry about that... I can hire men to help in the search. I will also make sure that none of them have any connection to the pack and council.” Hunter asserted.
Their conversation was interrupted when Bradley’s phone vibrated. The number shown on the screen is unregistered, so he immediately answers, hoping it is Leila.
“Hello?” Bradley’s voice is uncertain.
“It’s me, Johnny.”
Bradley felt disappointed. That’s why his ting deepened. “What do you want?”
“That’s cold... Anyway, I call you regarding the position saying no. I’m interested—” Riley answered directly.
Bradley raised his eyebrows because he didn’t expect Johnny’s quick response to his offer. However, he thought it would be better if the pack had a Beta, so he would have more time to find Leila. “Then you can go to the pack house tomorrow for the final evaluation,” Bradley affirmed in a hurry. Regardless of the outcome of the evaluation, he accepted him since Johnny Zaragosa was more qualified than the other candidate.
“Did I hear it correctly? Johnny Zaragosa called you?” Luna Maurice asked when Bradley finished talking on the phone.
“Yeah... I saw him at the hospital and said the Beta position was open... He called me to say that he was interested in taking it,” Bradley answered indifferently.
Luna Maurice was stunned for a moment. “Are you sure you can work with him?” She knows Johnny and Bradley used to be friends, but it was destroyed when the latter’s father died.
“What happened in the past is over... We know it wasn’t Johnny’s fault. My father died doing his duty as the alpha of the Sapphire pack,” Bradley affirmed.
Seeing the determination in Jacob’s eyes, Luna Maurice didn’t protest anymore... “Then I will accept him tomorrow at the pack house... How about you?”
Bradley shook his head. “Johnny needs to pass the trial, and I don’t need to watch it. I’ll just go once I need to accept him...”
“You plan to go back to the beach...” Arnold affirmed and stood up."—Then, we will start looking around the sea. Also, what car was Leila using when you saw her?"
Bradley thought for a moment, remembering the appearance of the car. “You’ve seen Leila’s car. She’s driving the same model; the only difference is the color — royal blue.”
Bradley, Maurice, and Arnold exchanged information for a few more minutes before ending the night.
Meanwhile, at Zaragosa Residence, the surroundings are quiet. Because of the pregnancy, Leila immediately fell asleep. But in the middle of her deep sleep, she had a nightmare again.
“No... Please, stop—”
Leila saw herself on the edge of the cliff while being strangled by a masked man.
“Once you die, everything will change... That Bastard will crumble until he wants to take his own life!”
Leila covered her mouth with both hands while her eyes widened in shock, staring at her image and the masked man. “Who are you? And who are you referring to?”
“No!”
Leila was focused on the voice; she was about to turn to see the owner when she suddenly woke up because of a vigorous shake on her shoulder.
“You’re having a nightmare again!” Johnny uttered and handed her a glass of water.
Leila drank the water, the droplets rolling off her chin as she wiped the sweat from her forehead. “I saw myself again... This time, someone is choking me—Then a voice... I heard a voice, but before seeing his face, you woke me up...”
Johnny can hardly believe that Leila's dreams could be real, unable to make sense of them. No news spread throughout the city regarding the violence, so he thought it was just a dream. Yet, he can’t ignore it. “Tomorrow, I will go to the Sapphire pack house... Once I get the position as the Beta of the pack, I can access the secret information in the city.” As Johnny stands up, he declares.
“You’re joining a pack? Is this the reason you want me to pretend to be your wife? Is having a family one requirement?” Leila asked, while frowning.
“Stop asking...” Johnny roared. He has no intention of telling Leila about his past or even a single detail of his life. “Anyway, the contract is on the table...” After this remark, Riley left the room.
Leila just sighed as she lay down. “Who are you... Are you the father of my child?” she whispered while thinking about the man in her dream.
