Leila POV.
Fear appeared in my eyes after I read the contents of the letter. “No! There is no way they can get Zeke! Maybe this is a prank!” In denial, I sprinted into the school. I crossed the path to Zeke’s classroom, but what I was afraid of became apparent when the teacher said someone had picked up Zeke.
“You gave my brother to someone who is not his relative?! What kind of school is this?!” I exclaimed furiously. Fearing my brother was in danger, I roared at the teacher, who was now shaking with anger in my eyes.
“Ms. Leila, I didn’t let him; I just saw Zeke get into a car...”
I frowned at what I heard; this meant that Kurt knew the person who had taken him... “The letter can’t be a coincidence! Zeke might be at home!” Because of the imagined possibility, I blurted goodbye to the teacher.
When I got in the car, I immediately took out the cell phone in the back. “If Zeke had left a while ago, he probably would have arrived home by now...” I uttered while dialing the landline at home.
“C’mon! Answer the phone!” I hissed. However, I have called several times, but no one answered. I also tried to call Zeke’s phone, but, like at home, it was unattended.
[KRING...]
I almost jumped when my phone rang. Thinking it was Zeke, I didn’t look to see who it was and immediately answered.
“Zeke?!” I hurriedly said.
“It’s me, Arnold... Don’t tell me Bradley’s number isn’t saved on your phone?”
My shoulders slumped as I let out a sigh. “It’s you... What do you want?”
“Nothing, your lover, wanted to know your condition, so I called you for him because he is busy dealing with Alpha Zanjoe...”
“Why? Did that Alpha cause trouble again?”
“I think so... He just attacked Bradley with a wolfsbane powder in the official fight...”
“Wolfsbane? What do you mean? How about Jacob? Is he okay?” I immediately felt dread. Since I already know the effect of that thing on our races, I’m afraid of Bradley’s consequences.
“Nah... Bradley is safe; however, he is in trouble. Everyone saw his mark, so everyone is questioning his position as the alpha of the Sapphire pack.”
I let out a deep breath. “How about my mom?”
“It’s better just to head here and find out for yourself...”
“I’m also occupied at the moment... I picked up Zeke from school, but he is gone. His teacher told me he got into a vehicle, but they don’t know the driver’s identity...”
“Well, your brother is smart; I’m sure he knows who picked him up...”
“That’s what I thought too, but I received a letter... And it says they have Zeke in their hands!”
BEEP... BEEEP... [Phone vibrates.]
“Someone is calling; I need to go...” I said to Hunter. I also took the car key.
“Okay, I will ask your mother if she sends someone to pick Zeke up...”
After that, I ended the call and answered the waiting call.
“Leila! Leila!”
I hit the brakes when I heard the shout on the other line. “Zeke! Zeke!” I can’t be wrong; that was my brother’s voice.
“Hmm... Now, do you believe that we have your brother?”
“Who are you? What do you want? Let my brother to face me!” While clasping the steering wheel, I roared. I tried to calm down. I want to hear who owns the voice, but there is no way for me to recognize it because the person on the other line is using an app to change the voice.
“What I want is to get rid of you! So if you want your brother to live, follow my instructions!”
My teeth gritted, trying not to curse the person in the other line. “Tell me! What instruction is this?!”
Zeke’s kidnapper announced his instructions while I listened intently.
“How can I be sure you will bring my brother back?” I asked when he finished speaking.
“Ha Ha Ha, there is no way for you to know...”
[BEEP... BEEP] end of the call.
“Shit! All I can do is follow them and trust that they will bring Kurt back unharmed...”
Meanwhile, in the Emerald pack, a rumbling sound can be heard outside a room.
“Tell me! Who gave you that powder?” Bradley roared while glaring at his eyes.
“Ugh... I-I told you, someone sold it to me... But I don’t know him; he just came to me last night!” Zanjoe answered again. He no longer has the strength to scream or fight because of the wounds Bradley created.
Bradley was about to swing the steel baseball bat when the door opened. It was Hunter.
“You’re wasting your time here... That guy knows nothing...”
“What do you mean?” Bradley asked, while frowning.
Arnold shrugged. “I can sense he is telling the truth... And the guy you’re looking for won’t expose himself to a weakling...”
Bradley signed and lowered the baseball bat.
“Anyway, I came here because I talked to Leila... Your girl is in trouble again...” Arnold stated and conveyed what he and Leila had discussed earlier.
“Damn it!” Bradley rushes out of the room while calling Leila.
Arnold follows. “She won’t answer that... So stop calling here...”
“Do you know where she is going?” Bradley paused with each step, his footsteps reverberating off the walls of the hallway.
“No, but she ended our conversation because someone was calling her... After that, she never called me back. I have a hunch that the person who called her is the one who sent the letter...”
Bradley unleashed a punch that hit the wall to calm himself down. “After this day, I will chain her to me!” Bradley declared.
Arnold, who was just watching, shook his head. “I can’t believe these two... They are disasters!” he whispered while looking at the wall crumbling.

On the street, my car quickly spelled out the location the caller said.
“This is the exit of the city... Did the kidnapper come from another place?” I asked myself, while checking my surroundings.
Then, as I looked around, I noticed in the side mirror two black cars behind me, also going fast. “Hmm... It looks like I have some company.” Because of this, I firmly stepped on the acceleration, trying to leave the car behind.
Unfortunately, the drivers of the two cars were professionals, which is why the gap did not grow. And my ordeal didn’t end there because they started hitting my car.
“Damn it! I don’t have time to play with you! My brother is in danger!” But I halted my remarks when I realized what was happening.
“These guys... They are aiding the kidnapper on their sinister mission.” And another thing that I realized... The group I’m facing now wants me to disappear from the world. Because the car behind me is hitting my car hard, they know that the side of the road is a cliff!
