Chapter 47

Ten alphas joined the contest except for the Sapphire pack and Paragon pack. These ten alphas aim to get the trophy, Leila Aragon. Every one of them has reasons for being involved, but some want to mess around, just like the Red Moon pack’s Alpha Zanjoe.

Because the Sapphire pack held the tournament, their alpha had to make opening remarks and explain the game’s rules. However, Bradley is nowhere to be found. Until now, he still hasn’t shown up at the pack house. That’s why Luna Maurice was the only one who spoke while the Head council, Charles, explained the rule.

Everyone agreed to have a draw to see who would face each other until only one was left. After the explanation, all the packs went to their cabin to rest. Since they will hold the game the day after tomorrow, they still have enough time to go around the city.

But not the Sapphire pack. Since they needed to ensure order, they needed to guard and patrol. In the barracks of the pack house, Beta Morgan was busy giving tasks to everyone. Head council Charles found this when he looked for Bradley.

“Alpha is not here...” Morgan responded and resumed what he was doing, but Charles did not leave immediately.

“Then do you know this? Why is the Sapphire Pack on the list of participants?”

Morgan turned tiredly. “Why are you asking me?” He had been busy since he arrived in the city. That’s why, even though he wants to join the game, Morgan can’t.

“The hell you know nothing! Tell me! Is this Bradley’s plan?! Do you want to destroy my plan?!” Council Charles exclaimed furiously,

“Your plan is irrelevant to us, so cut the craft! We are too busy maintaining order in the city to waste time with your drama! If you have questions about the disgust, ask the alpha!” Morgan affirmed, before turning to leave. The pack member immediately followed him.

Charles clenched his fists. “It's almost certain that Bradley won't be taking part in the contest,” he reflected as he regained composure.

At the snack house, Leila was sitting quietly in a corner, drinking her favorite strawberry shake. She finishes the task assigned to her; that’s why she can rest.

But her quiet moment ended quickly when a group entered the snack house. The guy in the center was grinning as he approached her.

“Leila Aragon... It’s been a while!”

Leila raised an eyebrow as she wondered who the man was. She knows the guy is one of the ten alphas, but she can’t remember what pack he belongs to and his name.

Seeing the indifference on Leila’s face made the man laugh. “Wow! I did not know that I did not leave an impression when we first met! It’s me, Alpha Zanjoe from the Red Moon pack!”

“Hmm... Do we know each other?” No matter how hard Leila endeavored to bring it to mind, she could not remember who was standing in front of her. She still smiled. “Anyway, as you can see, I’m resting and want some peace, so if you don’t mind, you can take another table...”

“Wow! are you still mad at me? C’mon! Let’s leave the past behind... Let’s put the past behind us and start anew, with the promise of a lifetime of happiness together just around the corner,” Zanjoe declared, extending his hand out in invitation.

Hmm... It looks like my past with this guy is not good... Leila uttered to herself while staring at Zanjoe’s face.

“I’m flattered that you’re thinking of being with me for life, but that’s far from happening... You have no hope of winning,” Leila said directly. Since Zanjoe said they had a misunderstanding before, Leila didn’t bother to show proper behavior.

The smile on Zanjoe’s face faded. “What did you say? I don’t have a chance of winning? And what makes you think of that? Don’t you remember that the Blue Moon pack is in the top five strongest packs and, since Emerald and the Phantom pack are not joining, my chance of winning is big!”

A sarcastic smile appeared on Leila’s lips as she sipped her strawberry shake. “Dreaming is free; that’s why I will not stop you. However, make sure you wake up on time...”

“You!” Zanjoe’s hand quickly grabbed Leila’s arm.

“What’s going on here?” It was Eunice. She had wanted to talk to Zanjoe earlier, that’s why she looked for a chance. So when she saw him walking with his pack, she immediately followed.

Leila and Zanjoe looked at each other before the latter quickly let go of her arms. “Nothing... We’re just talking and patching out the misunderstanding,” Anthony explained and smiled.

Eunice came over and sat next to Leila. “It’s fine to patch things out, but don’t cross the line...” Eunice gave Zanjoe a meaningful and threatening look. Although their relationship was secret, Eunice hated the fact that Zanjoe was talking to or paying attention to someone else. She is jealous, especially of Leila Aragon.

“You know him?” Leila asked, because she couldn’t deny Eunice's and Zanjoe’s secret glances at each other.

Eunice whiffed her head. “Well, we met him at the airport... Remember? The day Bradley and I arrived, we saw you being forced by him...”

Zanjoe immediately felt a sense of dread as he blushed. “I’ve apologized for what I did, so let’s all forget about the past. And earlier, the possibility of Leila becoming my Luna is strong. That’s why, Leila, you let us all be friends.” A smile appeared on Zanjoe’s lips as he stared at Eunice. He wanted to make Eunice jealous and make her feel she could find someone else.

The commotion at Leila’s table called the attention of those present. However, what they focused on the most was Zanjoe’s declaration.

“Hmm... The confidence you show in yourself is impressive, but fortunately, it’s not enough... If you and I face each other, you have no chance of winning...” Leila hissed with a sly smirk on her face.

(The commotion in the snack bar increased because of Leila’s declaration. Even Eunice did not expect her to say this.)

“How about a friendly match?” Ava said with a smile. She was listening to the group’s conversation while standing outside the snack bar. And as time passed, she couldn’t stop smiling at the flow of their conversation. Ava has been watching everyone since this morning. That’s why she saw the way Zanjoe and Eunice looked at each other. She felt a spark when the two were in the same room, prompting her to suspect something was happening.

“A match? Between who?” Leila asked.
