It's been a few days since Lyca's intensive training, and everyone has seen her wolf's powers, as Xavier predicted.
And throughout this, Xavier kept his distance. He permits Lyca to participate in the pack's daily activities and let her wolf free reign in the evenings.
This causes Lyca to inquire after Jaxson.
"—Hey, do you know when I may expect Xavier's evaluation? He hasn't seen me channel my inner beast in far too long. He also put an end to his workout for the day. He could be unwell or preoccupied." She aimed for a neutral tone in an effort to conceal her genuine emotions.
In a friendly nod, Jaxson looked over at Lyca. "Not sure what he's planning on doing. If you're curious about Xavier's activities, you may always ask him."
Lyca, not expecting an answer, simply shrugged. "... But seriously, when is the vendor due back?"
With no word after several days, Lyca begins to worry that her letter may not have made it to Matthew's country.
"Xavier set up the meeting, so I'm in the dark as to what happened. Why? Is there anything you require?" It was a question followed by a grin from Jaxson. "... That's the guy you should consult!" His tone was confident as he waved at Xavier, who was approaching them.
Rapid heartbeats prompted Lyca to hastily say farewell to Jaxson. She walked back into the house and remarked, "—I forgot, I still have something to do..."

When Xavier said, "Are you okay?" Lyca heard it. She asked, "What's wrong with me?" as soon as she walked in.
In the meantime, Xavier has paused in front of Jaxson to make some observations.

The question arises, "What does she want this time?" Xavier said, "I'm home," and entered. He promptly proceeded to Lyca's door, where he proudly knocked and entered.
While Lyca was in the midst of her wardrobe change, the door unexpectedly opened. "Ahh! What the heck—do you know how to knock!!" As she frantically tried to get dressed, her cheeks flushed.
Xavier closed the door and leaned against it with a scowl and an air of cool composure. "–I pounded on the door... Perhaps you were preoccupied and hence unable to hear my warning. Well, I overheard you requesting my presence."
Lyca's piercing gaze landed on Xavier. "—I want you to find out more about the courier... I've been waiting for weeks for a response, but so far, nothing has happened. I fear the king didn't receive the letter..."

Lyca approached Xavier rapidly. "What was the hold up in telling me? What about the local teen? What happened to them, did the knight not manage to save them?" Lyca failed in her attempt to conceal her anxiety since she was unable to quiet the shaking in her voice.
Xavier grabbed hold of Lyca and escorted her to the bed. "The wait continues... Given the lack of information regarding the girls in the village, I chose not to inform you."
This comment by Xavier infuriated Lyca. "Where have you been keeping this from me? You must know that I have been patiently waiting." Lyca felt like crying and couldn't help it.
"Simply put, I want you to give your full attention to your workouts. No longer would you be able to concentrate on your work if I told you this. Your development as a pair with your wolf is doomed as a result." Xavier's line of thinking as he signed.
Lyca scrutinized Xavier, hoping to get the truth from his comments. She contemplated the alternatives and considered the causes.
