Chapter 112 Nemesis

Nora's POV
My eyes widened as I stepped into the living room and saw her seated on the couch, watching TV and laughing. She had made herself right at home and I hated it.
She turned back, sensing my presence, and smiled at me. “Hello, twin sister.”
“What are you doing here?”
“Visiting,”
“Who asked for you?”
“I don't think I need permission to be in my husband's house.”
“Ex-husband’s.” I gritted out the correction.
The words tasted horrible in my mouth.
“The divorce isn't final yet.”
I hated the sound of that.
“Damon isn't home and I doubt you came here to spend time with me.”
She laughed. “You talk as if the two of you are the only ones I know in the mansion.”
Betsy walked in at that moment, carrying with her a tray of juice and freshly baked cookies. “Here you go, Madam Sasha.” She grinned, placing the offering before her.
I threw her a nasty look.
“Thank you, Betsy.” Sasha grinned.
“Anything for you, Madam Sasha.” Betsy grinned.
“You should know that I'm no longer the madam of the house.” Sasha announced, a sly grin on her face.
“That doesn't change the fact that you are my madam.”
“Be careful not to piss off the new madam.” Sasha mocked.
“I will.” Betsy chuckled and then turned to me. “Do you want some cookies as well, Madam Nora? There are some leftovers in the kitchen.”
I threw her another nasty glare.
Sasha chuckled. “I thought I warned you to be careful. How dare you offer your madam leftovers?”
“Oh!” Betsy gasped in mockery. “I had no idea that was rude. Forgive me, Madam Nora. Should I bake new cookies for you?”
“I see you are both having fun.” I snorted, glaring at the two of them.
“Is there anything wrong with having fun?” Sasha retorted. “Wasn't fun what you wanted to have when you lost your sister?”
What? My blood ran cold at the words and I stared at Sasha with wide eyes. She seemed to derive joy at my reaction and her gaze filled with mischief and pleasure.
“What?” She jeered, laughing so hard that it jarred on my nerves. “You can't talk again.”
“How did you know that?” I whispered through tight lungs.
Big mistake, Nora. I had bitten right into her bait and let her know that she was right. I should have played dumb but information about Nancy had a way of rattling me and I had given Sasha that key.
“How do you think?”
I could only think of Mark but she had no way of being in contact with him.
“Did you run a background check on me?”
“What if I did?” She arched her eyebrows. “That would be some money well spent. Don't you agree?”
If she did, there was one logical conclusion on how she got that information. My breath caught in my throat as I thought of it.
“Did you find my parents?” I gasped.
“I thought we had breakfast with them recently.” She chuckled. “Oh, you mean the ones who adopted and abandoned you when you killed their daughter?”
“I didn't kill her.” I shouted before thinking of what I did.
Another big mistake, Nora.
Tears fell from my eyes as I was plummeted back to the past and the guilt I felt. I struggled to hold the waterworks in but I didn't succeed.
“Isn't it good that I'm refusing to be your sister? Since you have a knack for killing off anyone unlucky enough to be a sister to you.”
Before I could find a response for her—not that I had anything to say to her as she had me hands down—Damon walked in.
His eyes widened and then narrowed with anger at the sight of Sasha seated comfortably in the living room.
“What are you doing here?”
Sasha turned to him with a smile. “Welcome home, husband. Oh, ex-husband. I came to pay my sister a visit. I hope you don't mind.”
He hissed and turned to me, dropping his bag immediately and rushing to my side as he saw my face. “What happened? Why are you crying?” He glared at Sasha. “What did you do to her?”
She snorted. “What do you mean by that? Would I have flogged her?”
“What did you say to her?” He glared at her, his fist tightening as he wrapped his arm around me in comfort.
She rolled her eyes at his show of love. “Why don't you ask her why she is crying?”
“Nora,” Damon sighed, his voice tormented. “I hate to see you in tears.”
“What a lovely sight.” Sasha mocked. “It's almost bringing tears to my eyes. Will you hold me in your arms and comfort me if I cry as well, Damon?”
“Shut up!” He roared at her.
“Noted, boss.” She laughed. “You can continue comforting the fragile killer.”
“What did you say?” He glared at her.
She didn't flinch. “I called her a killer. I reminded her of the sister she killed and asked if it was her will to kill me too and she started crying.”
“Get out of my house.” Damon roared, jumping to his feet and pointing at the door. “Now.”
“I will leave.” She snorted. “I thought you should know that you are replacing me with a killer.”
Damon turned to Betsy who had sat still all along, her eyes wide as she enjoyed the premium gist and how we kept embarrassing one another. “You have five minutes to drag her out or you are going to be out of this house with her.”
Betsy jumped to her feet, her eyes widening at the thought of losing her job. She seemed uncomfortable with chasing Sasha out, the madam she had pledged loyalty to, and also didn't want to risk her job.
“Save your breath, Betsy.” Sasha giggled. “I can find my way out.”
Sasha sashayed out of the house with her laughter ringing high in the air as she knew the damage she was here for had already been done.
