Chapter 9 a whole table of deserts
Rosie saw several neatly dressed waiters carrying trays of exquisite snacks walking toward them one after another. She had the illusion that all of them were coming to their table. Eva saw it too. They really were coming their way and soon stopped in front of them, placing plate after plate down. Originally, their table was small, but now it was completely filled with all kinds of snacks. Even the little boy at the next table was stunned. Although he had eaten here many times, his father had never ordered so many delicious treats, and some of them were even limited editions he had never tasted before. Eva was stunned as well. She had only ordered a mango pancake and a small raspberry milkshake. She couldn’t afford so many snacks. “Did you deliver the wrong order? These aren’t what I ordered,” Eva quickly stood up. “I only ordered a mango pancake and a raspberry milkshake.” The beautiful woman standing in front of her, dressed in a high-end outfit different from the other waiters, looked like the manager. She bowed respectfully and smiled warmly. “This has been paid for by a gentleman for you.” “Which gentleman?” Eva asked, looking confused. She didn’t remember meeting such a wealthy man. “That gentleman just left,” the manager replied respectfully. Eva quickly turned toward the door and saw a familiar figure. “It’s him!” His tall, straight back exuded an innate nobility. The only person Eva could think of was him. “Daddy!” Rosie shouted excitedly. “Daddy!” Eva’s mouth twitched. She screamed in her heart, He’s not your father! She glanced at the waiter beside her and realized everyone was looking at her strangely. She stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do. Then she glanced at Rosie, whose dark, bright eyes were fixed on her with joyful expectation. Not wanting to hurt her feelings, Eva didn’t argue and sat down in embarrassment. To others, it seemed like she had conceded. Even the waiters were shocked, their eyes full of respect. The rude waiter from earlier spoke up. “Oh, it’s the wife and daughter of President Elliott. You two are so simple, but your beauty and elegance can’t be hidden. Hehehe.” She laughed awkwardly, trying to flatter Eva. She regretted underestimating the woman in front of her, who turned out to be the wife of Young Master Elliott. How foolish of her! But wait—she had never heard of President Elliott being married. Was Eva his mistress and Rosie his illegitimate daughter? No matter what, anyone related to President Elliott was a VIP. He was the CEO of the Elliott Family Group, one of the four major families in Blackwood City. Born with extraordinary business talent, he had taken over the family business at a young age. Under his leadership, the group expanded rapidly into entertainment, finance, real estate, and film industries. “I mean, not that President Elliott…” Eva hesitated, not knowing how to explain. “That’s my dad,” Rosie said proudly, standing up straight. She noticed everyone was treating her mother respectfully and nodded to them. Rosie thought her father must be powerful and handsome, just like her mother. Her mother had suffered too much and needed someone to protect her. Eva felt like facepalming. Embarrassed, she looked at the waitresses still standing respectfully in front of her. “You can go about your business. Don’t mind us.” The waitresses bowed and left. Once they were gone, Eva sat back down. She had already paid for the meal and couldn’t let it go to waste. Rosie had already eaten a large plate of food, and Eva was starting to feel hungry too. “Mummy, try this. It’s really delicious,” Rosie said excitedly, placing a small piece of cake in front of her. Eva gently scooped up a bite with her spoon and put it in her mouth. It melted instantly, rich and creamy without being too sweet or greasy. Inside a blue Maserati, Kellan leaned back in his seat with his eyes half-closed, resting. His features were so perfect they looked as if they had been carved by a master craftsman. He habitually pursed his lips, giving off a cold and arrogant aura. His long index finger tapped rhythmically against his leg as he thought of the woman he had seen earlier. He had just finished eating with Young Master Hall at the restaurant. Sitting by the window on the second floor, he had spotted Eva when she entered. The waitresses had mocked her, saying she didn’t belong there, but she stubbornly insisted on staying. Reluctantly, they led her to a small table in the corner. The little girl beside her seemed sensible and tried to pull her away, but Eva refused to leave. Kellan’s brows furrowed slightly. She really was a vain woman. She didn’t have money, yet she insisted on eating at a high-end restaurant. He watched her flip through the menu several times before finally ordering a dessert and a drink. It seemed like it was only for the little girl. She hadn’t ordered anything for herself. When he saw the little girl gazing enviously at the dessert on the neighboring table, something stirred in his heart. He felt a bit sorry for her. Unable to resist, he called the waiter over. “Young Master Elliott, what can I do for you?” the waiter asked respectfully, bowing. “Send a table of the latest desserts to that table over there,” he said in a deep, magnetic voice. The waiter followed his gaze and was stunned. At that table sat a young woman and a child dressed in ordinary clothes, completely out of place in such a high-end restaurant. Why would President Elliott send desserts to that woman? What relationship did they have? “Is it the table with the mother and daughter over there?” the waiter confirmed carefully. “Yes.” His voice was cold and indifferent. That woman had only ordered a dessert and a drink, probably not planning to eat much. It would be better to send a full table so the mother and daughter could eat their fill. The waiter didn’t dare ask more and bowed as he left. President Elliott had instructed them not to neglect anyone—not even beggars. Immediately, a large table of the finest, freshest desserts was arranged and sent over.
