Chapter 46 Funny Episode

Ember POV
“Bring the biscuits,” I ordered, already heading out.
Ivy dragged her feet behind me, yawning so wide I thought her jaw would pop.
“Luna Ember, I am tired,” she groaned.
“I know.” I stopped suddenly and turned to her with a wicked smile. “Get a bedsheet or something, because tonight mosquitoes will be feasting on you.”
In shock she declared. “Don’t tell me you’re staying overnight?”
“The earlier I shift, the better,” I said matter of factly.
“But what if I just stay with you for a while? Then, when you’re fully into training, I can leave and let you concentrate.”
“If I stay overnight, you stay overnight.” I grinned and flicked her forehead lightly. “I won’t be as nice as I was last time.”
“Please,” she whined like a baby.
“It’s a royal order.” I winked at her. She sighed in defeat while I burst out laughing. She is just too lazy.
I kept walking until I heard her dash into the room opposite mine. She returned seconds later with a duvet clutched in her arms, glaring at me cutely like a betrayed soldier.
We made it to the golf car, and she muttered as she started the engine,
“Why are you wicked today? Last time you told me to just go back inside when I started dozing off.”
“It’s only natural I become like my husband,” I said sweetly, delivering the most savage reply I could think of.
“It’s not fair, o,” she pouted, driving us to the training ground.
Training began. Predictably, my wolf didn’t come out, and frustration burned in my chest. Meanwhile, Ivy’s head kept bobbing like a sleepy chicken. She was already half asleep before we even left my room, so this was no surprise.
An idea struck me. If I couldn’t shift, at least I could have some fun.
“Holy moly!” I screamed suddenly.
Ivy jolted awake like she’d been electrocuted, whipping her head around in panic.
“What happened? Why did you scream like that?” she asked, her eyes wide.
“I thought I saw a ghost,” I said, straight faced.
“A ghost?!” she repeated, instantly on high alert. Her fear was so obvious, I almost felt bad for what I was about to do next.
Almost.
Even though I was scared of ghosts myself, I steeled my heart and prepared to scare her just a little more.
In the middle of the yellow flowers stood that odd wooden statue. I’d seen it before in the daytime, harmless and plain, but at night it seemed to wear a scarier face.
Perfect for a little prank.
“Ivy,” I whispered, my voice dropping into a scary tone, “what’s that thing moving in the flowers? Is that… a ghost?”
The moment she looked back and her eyes landed on the statue, she screamed.
“GHOST!” she yelled and before I could blink she leapt onto me like a terrified child.
I barely held my ground, thanking the moon goddess for the little stamina I had left, or we would have both hit the ground. I was already laughing hard within me.
She broke away, bolting forward with surprising speed. I chased after her, shouting dramatically with a nasty smile plastered on my face, “Run! The ghost is coming!”
We ran through the garden until we reached the exit, both of us panting like we’d just fought a war. Ivy stood a few feet ahead of me, her chest obviously heavy. I swear she had just unknowingly used out of her werewolf speed
“Is… is the ghost still coming?” she asked, refusing to look back.
“No. It’s gone,” I replied calmly.
Only then did she dare to glance over her shoulder.
“So… we’re heading inside now, right?” she asked. “The night is dangerous.”
“The ghost is gone. We are staying,” I said. “It is a Royal Order.” I added imitating Valtor’s deep authoritative tone.
“Argh, not this again,” she groaned, dragging her feet after me as I headed back to the training ground. I bit my lip to keep from laughing out loud.
I was a pain in her neck tonight and I was enjoying every second of it.
When we got back, I noticed Ivy was still tense, her eyes darting everywhere.
“Wait,” she said, pointing at the wooden statue, “that’s still not the ghost, is it?”
“No,” I replied casually.
“But that’s what we saw before we ran!” she protested.
“Check again,” I said, leaning on the edge of a nearby bench. “The ghost isn’t possessing it anymore.”
She narrowed her eyes, studying the statue from where she stood.
“It looks… normal now,” she said at last.
“Exactly. Before, it was different. I could see the face of an old ghost woman,” I replied.
“Yes! I saw it too!” she said, shuddering at the memory.
I turned back toward the stream.
Truly even though I was just playing around, I saw this in the bright day. But at night, in my last training, at first glance I saw an image of an old woman, something that looked like it but then I never saw it again. It is a one time thing. That is obviously what made Ivy run her legs out because the moment she glanced she saw it, and with my words she concluded it is a ghost without reexamining it.
Pushing the thought aside, I knelt by the stream and submerged my hand in the water. The energy pulsed through me again, warm and soothing. But nothing else happened. My wolf didn’t stir.
I sighed.
“Not tonight,” I muttered to myself, my determination hardening again.
I noticed something strange, the tiredness in my body was fading, even though this was supposed to be sleeping time.
I glanced back and, of course, Ivy was already dozing off again.
“What’s the plan this time?” I muttered under my breath as I abandoned what I was doing.
This was going to be a long night.
I suddenly stood tall, clasped my hands in front of me, and bowed deeply to the thin air.
“Your Majesty… what did you come here to do?” I asked with fake reverence.
Ivy shot up from her slumber like lightning.
“King Valtor! We were just…” she froze mid sentence, her eyes darting around looking for him, her mind obviously going crazy.
I collapsed onto the floor, laughing so hard my stomach hurt.
Fans… okay, okay, let’s get serious again. 😠🔥

Ember POV
We had left in the middle of the night, and I was deep in sleep when Ivy shook me awake.
“Luna Ember?” she whispered.
My heavy eyes met hers. She looked pale(weak) and worried.
“What’s the news?” I asked, my voice still groggy.
“There is a rumour,” she said slowly “No… not just a rumour. It’s now considered fact. That Luna Ember can't even shift.” I felt like I lost my head immediately as my hand supporting my movement from the bed betrayed me, causing me to slip and clash my head back to the bed.
