Chapter 183 Third Elder Of The Gordons Clan (4)

The chaos unfolded before Alec’s eyes as the Tier 1 mages of the Gordons clan came under attack from the powerful Fridall clan.
Alec looked like his mana was running low, along with bodies already strewn across the ground around him, but in all of this Alec’s heart still pounded with worry for his comrades which he was slightly away from by a few distance when the bombardment started.
Agnes quickly assessed the situation and glanced at Alec, the one who seems to be the Fridall clan’s main target, standing strangely calm in the middle of it all, as if he had already accepted that nothing could stop the slaughter about to happen.
Her determination made her expression hardened, as she raised her staff and stepped forward, ready to wield her combined mastery of earth and water to the fullest to protect those close by.
Agnes followed the Magician Path, which made it easier for her to cast spells in rapid succession without fearing mana depletion or long cooldowns the same way Battle Path mages did.
That was her advantage, so long as she kept her distance, she could continue to grind them down until they dropped, she had formed a formidable defense, layering barrier after barrier of with her water elemental control, enduring the ferocious fire spells the Fridall clan hurled at them.
Using most of the Gordons’ remaining mana reserves that were being transferred to her, she expanded her protection as wide as she could.
But despite her efforts there was no way her water barrier could cover every single Tier 1 mage present, but it still shielded most of the clan and blunted the flames crashing into it, countering the fire magic long enough to keep them alive.
At the edge of her water barrier spell, Brandon Gordons stood there tightening his grip on both his saber and sword, as he tried shaking off the fatigue that was threatening to drag him down, as his saber released a cold, blood-red aura, while his sword emanated a calm, pure light.
After slaughtering countless goblins inside the Blood Dome and absorbing the refined bloodlust, Brandon’s killing intent seems to have deepened, and his control over the Slaughter Saber had stepped into a new level.
With swift, precise movements, he deflected and parried every strike aimed at them from that edge, each time he slashed out, a heavy earth aura rolled out, adding crushing force behind his swings as he  made sure to guard Agnes especially from that edges of her water barrier, which kept cracking under the bombardment of so many frisdall clan mages at once when they realized it would not be easy taking down the whole barrier easily so they decided to chip it from the sides.
Arthur Gordons’ on the other hand embodied strength and resilience, as he stood tall on the other edge, his body still merged with his unyielding bronze golem, looking almost invincible, no Fridall mage spell had been able to bypass his defense.
With his mastery of metal and earth, he attacked and defended against them with relentless force.
So long as Arthur held his ground, the enemy couldn’t break through, even so, he still found moments to conjure a metal sword and send them flying to cut down any Fridall mage who drew too close to the Gordons’ wounded ranks.
As the battle raged, Agnes’s eyes locked onto Bree Fridall, the enemy mage that had been charging toward Alec with clear, malicious intent, as anger surged through her, and she knew she had to protect Alec at all costs, even if she couldn’t understand why he still stood there, while everything fell apart around them, unmoving and not even trying to reach for them where the water barrier defenses were erected,
His actions baffled her greatly and in as much as she wanted to help she just found it hard to be able to stretch her right hand towards his location to cast another water barrier spell to protect him while she was already maintaining the one that was protecting the whole of the Tier 1 Gordons’ mages.
Then Alec who had been still all this while finally decided to act.
He summoned Titan and Legion from the space pouch, as the appeared before him, the sheer aura rolling off both golems was enough to halt the Fridall mages heading towards him in their tracks under the pressure of a higher Tier than theirs, and Titan’s presence carried an added, chilling weight that made even the boldest hesitate.
But Bree Fridall didn’t stop, with a few hundred key Fridall elite mages he dashed straight for Alec, they had heard Alec possessed one Tier 2 golem. Instead, he had just revealed two which quite baffled them.
The moment they saw it, they understood the information they’d been given couldn’t be trusted, as Alec was still growing and would not stay stagnant to whatever information they had of him.
Still, it wasn't as if they weren’t unprepared for a situation like this.
Bree Fridall snapped his arm forward and hurled a crystal card toward Legion, the card he had just revealed had been meant for restraining Titan, but Bree chose to use it on Legion instead as he would prefer for them to face the known threat over the unknown, which might cause some complications.
As the crystal card closed in on Legion, Bree roared a command.
[> Seal <]
In that instant, it was as if heaven and earth answered him to his call, as a vortex of elemental force burst from the crystal card, swallowing Legion whole and sealing him inside an icy casing.
Though Legion wasn’t dead, but there was no chance of him breaking out of it anytime soon.
“Félix, take about a hundred mages and tie down that ice golem, it must not be allowed to come close to us or disrupt our plans!” Bree shouted, and that was how one of the Fridall Clan’s talented elites immediately split from the main group, leading a squad that fanned out to surround Titan.
When Alec saw the numbers still coming for him, well over four hundred, plus their leader, Bree Fridall, who is the Fridall Clan’s Tier 1 mage commander, his smile widened.
“It seems that because I haven’t made a move in a long time, I’ve become someone you people despise… someone you think is weak,” Alec said, his voice calm. “Tell me—do you really think I’m weak?”
Bree finally stepped into place, completing the encirclement, he had managed to isolate Alec from the Gordons and also cut him off from the two golems he summoned which he assumed were Alec’s trump cards.
“Weak? No,” Bree replied flatly.
“Plenty of people think you are, but I know better, even your Tier 1 golems are strong enough to buy you an escape if you try, however; I'm not interested in taking that chance.”
Alec tilted his head, amused.
“So you admit I’m not weak… yet you’re still mocking me, still underestimating me, acting like I can’t survive without my golems.” His smile sharpened.
“But my golems are part of my strength, I made them. I control them. And if you truly think my creations are what define me…”
He leaned forward slightly.
“…then you’re an even bigger idiot than I thought.”
Bree’s expression didn’t change much to the insult.
“Say whatever you want, Alec, however today is the day you die, and no words you say will be able to save you today, we have you surrounded, and we’ll grind you down until there’s nothing left again.”
Alec suddenly laughed, wild and unrestrained while raising one of his hands to cover half his face, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“Time and time again, I try to stay out of trouble…” he said, laughter fading into something darker.
“But idiots like you won’t let me go, you won’t let me breathe. You keep chasing me, plotting to assassinate me like I’m some kind of monster.” His voice dropped, quiet and dangerous.
“What’s my crime? I only wanted a peaceful life… a happy life… in my second chance at living.” He lowered his hand, and his eyes looked like they were burning.
“But if you people insist on forcing me into that role…” Alec’s smile returned, but much more cold this time.
“…then maybe I’ll become the demon you all want.” After finishing his speech Alec’s hand slid off the hilt of his bone katana and drifted down to the Blood Changdao which was also resting at his waist, silent, unmoving, like it had been waiting for this moment.
“Today, I’ll massacre you all, and I’ll make it painfully clear how wrong you were to ever think of opposing me.” Alec said, his red eyes burning.
