LEGIONS POV.
The curtains swayed gently in the breeze as my deadly gaze focused on the scene below. The peaceful silence that was in the garden was all that soothed me, yet somehow I could feel like the overgrown hedges and the bright flowers were wilting under my gaze as if even nature itself despise me.  It wasn’t that hard to believe as I was fighting a similar feeling to hate myself. That face. The look on that face.
I breathed out trying to ease myself. Xeric needed soothing, He needed to be calm, calm the storm inside of us threatening to come out.  Tame the beast. That was all that was racing through my mind as I kept my eyes focused on the peace and serenity below.
He wanted to come out, he wanted to wreck something, and what Xeric wanted he got.  Only he couldn't kill his host. I believe that’s what irritated him most. That his greatest enemy at the moment was me, and he could do nothing about it and thus he was fighting to be free.
I gritted my teeth at the thought, my hands tightening into hard fists. I couldn’t even reason with my beast. There was nothing I could say to him when I could hear him storming inside me, demanding to be let free, but that was a rampage I couldn’t afford. And even though I looked utterly calm on the outside, I was a bare inch from releasing him as he stormed on, getting stronger each second.
I had never been able to control him, so much so that this little bit of restraint I was putting up surprised me, maybe because I knew exactly why I had done what I did though Xeric refused to see reason. He had seen the expression on our little mate's face as I denied her. He saw what he could only describe as hate dancing through her eyes as she was sent away.
“SENT MATE AWAY. MATE HATES US.” Xeric gritted out each word like he was about to turn psychotic.
 "It was for her own good" I grunted painfully arching forward, my hand gripping the side of the windowpane as I fought to hold him in, trying to reason with him.  The strength of the growl that erupted from within him caused me to stumble back a few steps, grabbing the chair’s arms beside me, trying in vain to push the beast back.
YOU made mate hate us. Xeric growled, his hazel eyes emerging. Every word held a bitter accusing tone. Like I did the despicable.
 Force against the force I managed to resurface, Xeric’s Hazel eyes clearing into my silver ones, "can you blame her?” he countered, gripping the chair tighter, my breaths coming out in short puffs of strained air.
"We were making progress! PROGRESS! You.  Ruin.  It!” HE roared back.
"I had to!” I fired at him, “ You know what would happen if-" he was cut off as the door to the office was swung open, our praetorian instinct pulling into play as we turned to look at whoever was heartbreakingly ignorant enough to walk in at this moment.
Immediately, Xeric pushed out further, his eyes settled on the one person stupid enough to walk in at the height of his frustration.
Caleb froze staring at us, looking like a deer caught in headlights. I knew what he saw, a half-human half Lycan alpha standing before him, eyes the color of death, claws out, my back arch, in the process of shifting and yet managing to retain my human form in a desperate attempt of power over my rogue Lycan. Immediately, he knelt down, the only smart thing to do as I knew that he knew by now that it was the only thing that could save him. 
 His Lycan couldn't do anything against its Alpha.
"My prince," he eased n softly.
 Xeric immediately snarled angrily at him but I managed to pull him back, “let him talk" I gasped out, still breathing heavily against Xeric’s rebellion efforts. If he had it his way, he would be galloping down the dark alleys and jumping over rooftops until he reached our little mate's house. I couldn’t let her see what we were yet, he was yet to understand that she was delicate and human. Xeric only did one thing to delicate things, ruin them.
Caleb kept his eyes on the floor, head bowed in the kneeling position until  I felt Xeric pull slightly back and I managed to gasp out a breathy, "talk" I ordered.
He slowly raised his head, a look of relief overtaking his features when he saw I had somehow won the battle with Xeric and was still in control. He knew that I was the only one saw he could at least have a civilized conversation with.
He stood up as I stood straight, Xeric finally withdrawing back. Rolling my aching shoulders that had been through a half transformation and wee snapping back into place, I took a seat with a low grunt and Caleb followed suit.
I looked right up at him, leaning back, in a low tone, "Has he gone?” I asked.
 
 "Yes, your father’s chief informant has departed,” Caleb replied with a sarcastic sigh, crossing a leg over the other.
 My gaze shifted momentarily, pausing for a second, gritting my teeth looking slowly back up at Caleb, "Did he-Did he suspect anything?”
 Caleb froze for a second at this before slowly nodding, "I believe he did… I must say the girl left quite the impression," he grunted lowly.
”FUCK!” I yelled pushing the books and files off my desk in a frustrated swipe, standing up almost immediately, pacing a few feet before Caleb. I shook my head, roughly running my hands repeatedly through my hair in the darkest frustration known to man, feeling Xeric’s wrath mix with mine, causing me to suddenly turn, throwing our chair into the wall, shattering it as he let out an angry roar, "Dang it!  Dang, it! Dang, it! I told her to frickin stay away!" I stormed, running yet another hand through my hair this time pulling at the roots.
 "Well,” Caleb sighed, lazily laying back, seemingly to be unaffected at my outburst, “and I believe I told you it was a bad idea to miss classes, especially after you kissed her. I mean she is your mate, it’s logical that once the bond begins to build she will do anything to be close to you, whether human or not and you distancing yourself from her obviously wasn't the smartest decision you ever made. It’s not her fault."
 I sharply turned to look at the man before me with a harsh glare, gritting out the words, "I told you why."
"And I said Xeric would never allow it," Caleb finished, “One Association with her in a library doesn’t get to be the all and amen to your story.”
“She saw the danger in my eyes.” I gritted out, the memory flashing before me.
How dangerous? She whispered.
“That’s good,” he breathed, “Was she afraid? Did you see fear?”
I paused at this, eyes solely on my guardian, a low scowl forming on my lips, “no,” I bluntly replied, “I saw intrigue.”
“She sees mystery in you, adventure even. She’s perfect for you. A fearless Luna. I see a future for Kesh,” he grinned, eyes sparkling in amazement. Yet he was only looking at the surface of this whole ordeal.
“Her intrigue into our world will put her in more danger than her fear for me could ever,” I fired back though I couldn’t deny the sudden weight uplifted from Xeric’s side at the reasoning of Caleb, “I have many enemies who would revel in the fact that my mate is human.”
Caleb nodded, “I agree. She is human,” Caleb acknowledged, but paused adding, “You could forever let that be her flaw, or you could let her use that to her advantage.”
I sent him a hard glare, “all she needs now is to stay away, she’s in too deep,” I growled back in a finalized tone. She was barely 18. My mate was a barely eighteen human girl. I knew for a fact she was not ready for our world. She had barely seen her own. I groaned rubbing the sides of my head as I felt a growing headache, "I should have been harsher"
"No, on that part you were quite clear my prince,” Caleb darkly chuckled, “harshness is your specialty. You were as cold as always, But then you said her name... And I assure you all your subjects know something is going on between you two. You never bother to know the name of any human, not your business partners or investors, but you knew this young beautiful 18-year-old girl's name, who is the perfect age to be your mate. Suspicion is all over the Lycan ears that witnessed your ordeal I’m afraid,” his eyes whisked back to me, “Including your father’s guardian, Regent Julius.  I fear this news will reach your father's ears in no time and you know what he will do when he learns you have finally found her, "
My heartbeat thundered within me, clenching my jaw,  face falling, "he will take her.”
"Yes,” Caleb replied with a soft sigh, “she is the key to the kingdom. Your Lycan will be tamed by her. Wherever she goes he will follow, it is the way of love,” Caleb finished watching his every expression with intensity.
Frustration echoed in every corner of my body, my jaw clenching and unclenching before running a hand once again through my roots, a habit I decided must be killed, "Then I must protect her, she can't be forced into our world,” I breathed.
 "Good luck trying to get near her,” Caleb scoffed shaking his head, “Even I can see you damaged a few things."
Xeric growled at the sound of this causing Caleb to lean back.
I growled darkly remembering all I had told her in an attempt to protect her stubborn self.  If I knew my little mate she was definitely going to stay away from me for as long as she could muster. And yet somehow, I reveled in the fact that I would have to beg for her grace. It should have bothered me how quickly I was willing to get to my knees for her, it was unnatural for me, and yet I felt I would do it thousand times over with no excuses made.
"Fix it" XERIC growled out, making my eyes glow.
I gripped the desk fighting with all my strength at his sudden burst.
 "I-I must agree with his m-majesty,” Caleb stuttered, before clearing his throat, “you have to fix it because you messed up pretty bad,” he explained before gulping softly, “my prince.”
My dark eyes cleared into my silver ones, and I leaned forward relaxing my fists. I looked back at him, nodding with a soft sigh, “there is no other way.”
