Chapter 19
" What" Skyler asked him dropping her glass
" What you said" Yori rephrased
" That's none of your business..you aren't the only one here. I'm sure the others heard it too" Skyler said and took her eyes away from him
" I know they heard it, but it's I who's interested in it" Yori said to her. His tone was calm and cold
" Why would you?" Skyler snapped at him
" Why wouldn't I" Yori snapped back
The rest just stared, as the both of them started raising thier voices at each other
" I don't wanna talk about it anymore" Skyler said
" But I do" Yori said
" And you're gonna explain it to me" he said
" I owe you no explanation" Skyler said
" Yes, you do" Yori retorted
" No, I don't"
" Yes, you do"
" Hey guys, please just stop it" Kina shouted
" What's this madness?? What's wrong with the both of you?" kina asked getting up
There was silence
" Do you wanna explain the meaning of what just happened" she said after a while
There was no response
Skyler suddenly got up at the amazement of everyone
" Where are you going?" Sammie asked as he held her hand
" I just lost my appetite" Skyler said looking at Yori
" Now someone is happy" she said and smiled, but the smile vanished as quickly as it came.
" Please Skyler,just sit down. Its not something that serious. He was just curious that's all" Yvonne said
" Let her go if she wants to" Kelvin said and picked up a glass of wine. He took it close to his mouth and was going to drink when Skyler hits the glass and it fell with the wine spilling over him, before crashing to the ground
" What the hell?!" he yelled as he got up
" What's that you just did? Are you out of your damn mind?!" Kelvin asked really angry
He attempted to go meet her when Sammie and Yvonne him back
" Chill dude. She's just a girl" Sammie said
" Just a girl my foot. Look at my shirt, it's all ruined because of her" he said angrily
" do you think this stain will ever leave; and to think I just bought this shirt" he said painfully
" Damn!! It was the last one. I hated the others" he said and forced himself out of Sammie's grip
He walked to the window and held it shaking his head
" You know what" he said looking at her". screw you" he said and walked out
Skyler stood rooted at the spot. She didn't say a word neither did she move
" What just... happened?" Yvonne asked taking a seat close to hers
" I duuno, but all I can say is that, this get together was a disaster" Kina asked and sat down too
" Great" Sammie said placing his hands on his waist
Yori looked at Skyler who was still standing. He knew she had overreacted and was at fault, but he could never bring himself to fight against her; though Kelvin was his best friend
Skyler picked up her bag and slowly walked to the door
She got to the door and held the handle. She looked back once more and seeing that they were all staring at her, she opened the door and left
" This was one hell of a get together" Yvonne said and yawned
" Well, we could always reorganize" Sammie said smiling
" Reorganize what? Didn't you see what happened? Do you think they would still talk to each other after this? And why are you even smiling? Are you supposed to be smiling in a situation like this??" kina rasped
" So, what do you suggest I say or do then?" Sammie asked her and shrugged
" I'm just trying to be optimistic here" he said
" Suit yourself" kina said. She picked up her purse and also left
" So, that makes it the three of us," Yvonne said looking at both Sammie and Yori
Yori also got up as soon as she made that statement
His hand were in his pockets. He took one one last look at her then scoffed before leaving
" Cous" Sammie called
" Is that your new pet name for me?" Yvonne asked rolling her eyes
" So, it's no longer baby doll" she said gesticulating with her hands
" Everyone knows we are cousins; so, just try another pet name"
She looked funny and childish at the same time and it made Sammie to start laughing
" It's not funny" she said to him rolling her eyes, as she breathed out in frustration and sighed
Sammie continued laughing
" Hey, just stop it okay," she said and threw a spoon at him
" Ouchh!!" Sammie whined in pain
Yvonne ran to down him as he bent holding the place she had hitted with the spoon
" Sorry dear. Does it hurt??" she said massaging it
" Yeah, yeah" Sammie said whining and wailing
" Ouch. Ouch..where you planning to kill me?" he asked
" Oh, my God, she's trying to kill me" he said again as he massaged it more
" If you don't stay out and stop whining like a kid, am gonna walk out of this place and leave you here" Yvonne threatened
Sammie stopped whining when she said that
" To think that I didn't he hit you that hard" she said and scoffed
" I heard that!!" Sammie said and smiled
" So what??" she said and Sammie laughed
" Jerk"

" Hey, wait up" Kina said after kelvin who walked to the parking lot
She was basically running after him. He was really angry and she knew that, but still she didn't want to back off
" What?" he yelled at her
Kina was shocked at his reaction
For Pete's sake, she wasn't the one that got him made
" I..I was just trying to.." she stuttered
" Cat got your tongue?" kelvin asked as he watched her
Kina suddenly forgot all what she had wanted to say. She started fiddling with her fingers
Kelvin realized he had been too harsh on her, but he wasn't the type to say sorry
" What? Do you have something to say?" he said, this time calmly
Kina was glad with the tone he had used to talk to her
She raised up her head and looked at him
" Sorry about what happened" she said
" It's alright, and you didn't have to apologize, you did nothing wrong" kelvin said to her and smiled
" Yeah I know, but still I wanted to. I wanted to make sure you hold no grudges" she said with a grin
" And why would you be bothered about that" he asked her confused
" Because Skyler is my friend" she replied
" And what am I?? Am I not your friend too,?" kelvin asked disappointedly
" You are. You both are, and that's why I wanna make sure there's no issue between you two, between any one of us" she said and took his hands in hers
" I dont want us getting into a fight, after this am still gonna go talk to her; so don't worry about that and I'll make sure she apologize" Kina said with a smile
" You better keep to that word" Kelvin said and smiled back at her
" I will" she said " I dont just want us having issues" she said again
" Yeah. Bye" kelvin said and got into his car
" See you then" kina said and waved at him
He waved back before starting the car and driving off
Kina stood there staring as he drove out of the school premises
" So what did you say to him?" Yori asked suddenly appearing out of nowhere
" Oh, my God. You scared me" Kina said placing her hand on her chest. Yori laughed
" I got you there" he said to her
" Seriously?" Kina asked
" It wasn't funny" she said angrily and was walking out on him
" Hey, come on" Yori said after her
" I didn't mean to" he shrugged as he walked behind her
" Stop following me" she yelled at him
" Really" Yori said laughing
Kina stopped and glared at him
" You're just a jerk" she said to him
" And you like me like that, don't you?" he said to her as he stock out his tongue towards her
" You gat to be kidding me" she said and rolled her eyes
She started walking fast but Yori also did same
She got frustrated and stopped
" What do you want?" she asked standing, hands on her waist
" What did you say to kelvin?" Yori asked standing at her front, preventing her from moving any further
" I apologized on Skyler's behalf and told him I will make her do so too" she said truthfully
" You sure?"
" Yeah. What do you mean?" Kina asked
" Nothing, but are you sure you can get Skyler to apologize, like for real?" Kelvin asked her
" I'll do the best I can" Kina said
" Thanks" Yori said
"Get out..you're still a jerk" she said and walked off
" Come on, Kina* Yori whined after her
Kina placed her fingers in her ears
" Not hearing you" she shouted at him
" I know you can" Yori said laughing
Kina ran off and he ran after her
They began to run round in circles
Skyler watched from the top view. She had gone back to where she was before and had been watching the scene, right from when Kina went to meet kelvin
She smiled as she watched them play. They were happy. They were free
She closed the window and went to sit down - sad.
