I turn around and realize that Peter Hyun has been standing behind my back, silently watching me for god knows how long. He always have this unnaturally calm and smiling face that is beginning to become a little bit unsettling to me.
He's dressed in a pair of dark blue slacks and a light blue shirt. His shoes are a pair of black leather loafers. There's just something about his demeanor that I'm not very much comfortable with. He's holding a brown suitcase and I can't help but wonder what sort of work he's been doing at this hour?
"I wasn't following anyone." I force a smile on my face as I look at his suitcase. "I just wanted to get some air out here in—"
"The basement?" he cuts through my sentence and flashes me a weird look as if he already knows that I'm lying. "It's fine, anyway. I understand you." And he shrugs.
"Are you going somewhere with that?" I ask, pointing towards his suitcase.
"No. I just returned from sealing a deal for Master Jin."
"Ah, I see." I start moving towards the elevator because Peter gives me the creepy feeling. I feel like I should run away from him before he intimidates me any further with that mysterious smile dancing around his lips.
"That elevator is broken." He says, causing me to stop after I have already pressed the door to open but it doesn't, which is strange. "I suggest you use the one inside."
"Oh really. Well then, I'll go through the kitchen backdoor. Goodnight." Before I leave, I sneak a look at his neck and realize that the rosebud tattoo is not there anymore as if he has erased it. I don't ask questions though and I hastily leave him standing there.
I return to bed and try to get some sleep but the thought of that girl and what might be happening to her is still on my mind. At this point, I can't help but suspect Peter Hyun of having something under his sleeves. What was he doing exactly at that point and place? I wish I can help that girl, and it's pains me to remember that I'm powerless in this estate and I can't help my own self or anyone.
But really, I just can't ignore what I saw. I need to at least report this to Master Tae Ho. But the main challenge is that I don't have the pass to his floor. Not anymore, and this leaves me with only the option of going to Master Jin. He should know what his men are up to, that's if he isn't the one that put them up to do that.
I get out of bed and grab my pass to Master Jin's floor from underneath the bedside lamp. I leave our room only to find the security men still sleeping and snoring in the corridor. I reach the elevator and enter. I press the 5th floor, swipe my pass across the censor and watch it blinks green. Then it shoots me upward.
The corridor to Master Jin's apartment is also silent, just like everywhere else. I don't expect to feel like the only person awake at this hour but I do. However, as I move closer to his main door, I hear the sound of TV and I'm relieved that I won't have to wake him up. He must already be awake.
Pressing the doorbell, I stare at my face through the small intercom device as I patiently wait for the door to open up. After about two minutes, it finally opens up.
"Come in quick," Master Jin's voice says. "I don't have forever." I nod and quickly enter, careful not to bump into his body as he stands in my way. I have to squeeze my frame in other to pass him without asking him to make way. I motion for the couch but I don't sit until Master Jin comes around and sit before me. "What do you want to say that can't wait until morning?" He ask as he take the TV remote and turn off the news channel.
"I saw a girl forcefully kidnapped by two security guards in the garden." I went straight to the point. "I'm sure you must've heard about another suicide case that occurred while you were away. It m—"
"What? Another suicide occurred?"
I nod my head at him. "You were not told? Another girl died in her room two days ago. It must be related to all this."
Master Jin rubs his chin and hesitates to reply as if in deep thought. He seems to be truly shocked to hear the news from me. It means they kept the news away from him. Derrick or Peter should've told him about this.
"The day I was shot you talked to me about a letter your friend left behind. Go and bring it to me."
Now it's my turn to be shocked. "That's strange, I thought you sent someone to get the letter already. When I returned that day, the letter was gone."
"What?" He almost yell at me as he stand up looking furious. "Where exactly did you kept it that it was so easy to find?" He looks disappointed in me. "I thought you were smarter than this but you can't even secure a letter."
"I'm sorry."
"Who else knew about the letter before you told me? I know you told Tae Ho, but did you talked to anyone else about it?"
"No."
He sigh and pick up a light sleeping overall from the couch. "Follow me to the CCTV room."
I follow Master Jin to the inner corridor where he push open the door to one of the many rooms. The moment I enter, my eyes falls on lots of screens and monitors showing so many parts of the estate. He turns on the lights and proceed to the chair in front of the monitors and seat.
"Come closer and take a look quickly." He orders, and I obey. "Where was she taken from?"
"The garden behind the kitchen."
He presses onto the keyboard and narrow the screen to a certain part of the Estate which I recognize to be the garden. "Can you remember around what time it happened?"
"Maybe half an hour ago."
Again, he presses the keyboard and zoom in a footage from one of the monitors. He start forwarding the footage while strictly keeping his eyes on the screen. I bend over and keep my eyes strictly on the screen as well until the figure of a girl shows up and Master Jin stops there.
"She's the one." I whisper.
