They were sitting quietly in the study before, Danny spoke up breaking the silence, " So I was curious, why do you want to become a Gynecologist? You could have chosen to be something else and also, there are many other areas of specialization in medicine that you can choose from so why? Why gynecology? "
" Well... " Sushie began, " To be honest from childhood, I never wanted to be a doctor as I found their work to tasking and serious. I always wanted to be a teacher. Though I often heard that teachers are not earning as much as medical doctors are, but yet, I still wanted to be a teacher. I loved imparting knowledge to my fellow students. When I entered high school, I then decided that I was going to be a College lecturer instead since they are rumored to earn more and are respected more in society than normal elementary teachers, which I decided in my junior year one. " She said while staring at the window blinds.
Danny thought for a moment as he digested the information he had just collected, " So why then did you change your mind? " He asked slowly.
" Um... I began to question what I truly wanted to become in the future after a basic science lesson in junior year two. " She replied.
" Basic science? What was the topic? "
" Human reproduction. "
" Oh, you know when I too was in junior high, most of my classmates also loved that topic in basic science but I didn't. Though I know everything about it as I read it multiple times but I don't like the topic, unlike my other classmates. "
" Why? " Sushie was Suprised indeed, this was the first time she was hearing something like this, Even in senior high school, she realized that most of her mates loved that topic in biology.
" Even I don't know. Perhaps it's because I feel that life shouldn't revolve only around reproduction. I believe that as humans we have more to achieve than just reproducing. "
" You are right, I guess. But, reproducing is part of the law of nature. " Sushie drawled slowly.
" I know but it shouldn't be that humans have to be condemned just because they can't reproduce. "
" You seem so serious about this, why? " Sushie couldn't help but ask.
" Well, I once had a teacher in high school. She was very nice, kind, super caring, and easygoing. She loved her students and always made sure that they are serious with their studies. " He took a deep breath before continuing, " She also organizes counsel sessions for students and there she gives us advice on our future ambition and so on. I was one of her favorite students back then, she happened to be the only female teacher I was close with as she was very accommodating, there were times where I found myself confiding in her and telling her things that were troubling me and you know? Like the perfect teacher she was, she always gave me advice. "
" I followed her advice like the good child I was and I didn't regret following it. "
" So what happened? " Sushie inquired curiously when he stopped.
" Well, we resumed back to school after a long summer holiday. I arrived late to school that day as I slept late. I found my classmates sulking, they weren't smiling at all. "
" I was very curious why they were like that since they are always lively. I asked my best friend, Finn what was wrong and then I got the answer that shook me totally, Mrs . Hannah was dead. "
" Wait, what happened to her? "
"She was having serious issues in her marriage despite her being always happy and full of life. "
" What type of problem? "
" She had problems with her reproductive systems which made her unable to conceive. "
" Oh. So what caused her death? "
" Her husband Happened to be a very rich and prosperous businessman, You must have heard of William Taylor, right? "
" I have. He's one of the top ten richest businessmen in the world. " Sushie Replied
" Yeah, he was Mrs. Hannah's husband. Since she was his only wife, she was required to give birth to the heir but as she was barren she couldn't. "
" So what happened next? "
" Isn't it obvious? The man being pressured by his family members took a second wife. "
" Second wife? I thought that was against the law? "
" It is, but since he's influential he did. "
" Okay. Did he divorce Miss Hannah? "
" He did later on but not before she was humiliated by his family members, just because she couldn't conceive. "
" But, it's not her fault that she can't conceive, alright?"
" That's exactly my point! Why should she have to be blamed for something that isn't in her control? Why? " Remembering it all made him boil with rage.
" I guess that's how the world is. In some cultures, it's believed that the main purpose of every woman is to reproduce and any woman that is unable to perform the ' simple ' task shouldn't be considered as a woman. "
" Um. I read an article which explained that too.... "
" So what happened next? "
" I think it's quite guessable. Miss Hannah got abandoned by her husband, he divorced her without any guilt. This broke her which lead to her ending her life. "
" Oh no! So she committed suicide? "
" She did. " He said as he wiped a lone tear out from the corner of his eyes.
Sushie stretched out her hands and held his in a consoling manner, " Am so sorry to hear that, Brother. "
" It's alright. You do not have to apologize as it's not your fault. "
" I know, but still, I feel very guilty for opening up your old wounds. "
" Well, if it's about the wound, then the wound was opened about two months ago. "
" When? " Sushie asked.
" Well,.. " he hesitated.
Noticing his hesitation, Sushie held his hands tightly and stared Straight at him, " Tell me, brother... " She urged him.
