Chapter 143: The Underground

The wind slowly lifted me up until I could see the whole island, the grassland, the forest nearby, the cottage, the flowing river, and the lake. I didn't know how to stop the necklace from bringing me up. The air was getting thinner and thinner. I flew higher than the birds. Then, I started to panic.
Suddenly, I plummeted down. I was so scared. I thought I was going to die, but just an inch before my body could touch the ground, the wind brought me up again and started circling around the grassland. I screamed as if I was riding a rollercoaster.
"Kaila!" Alicia called, her hands around her mouth. "Are you okay there?"
"Yeah! I'm fine!" I shouted back. "I'm actually starting to get a hang of it!" I eventually got control over the wind and flew back to Alicia.
"So, how is it?" Alicia asked.
"It's fine. It brought me up a kilometer high. Then I plummeted down. I thought I was going to die. Perhaps it was just playing with me," I said.
"That's insane. You should be more careful," Alicia reminded.
"Yeah, don't worry about me. So, did you find our next enemies?" I asked.
"I do. Want to see them now?"
I nodded in response. Alicia used teleportation magic and brought us to something like a military base. There was a sign attached to the old fence: only authorized personnel were allowed to enter.
I broke the lock by kicking it and checked the surroundings. This place looked old. We circled around the house and found a door that led to the underground place. I opened the latch, and we entered there. We took a winding staircase until we reached the floor.
"Are you sure we're in the right place?" I asked.
"When did I make a mistake?" Alicia replied. "This place was abandoned long ago. People who disappeared were taken here, tortured, and dissected."
"And what did they do with the organs?" I asked.
"They probably sold it," Alicia replied.
"So this base belonged to some creepy organization that kidnaps people, dissects them, and sells their body parts? You said it was abandoned a long time ago, so what are we doing here?" I asked.
"They just came back to operation recently. New victims had gone missing," Alicia said.
"And where did you get that information? Is it even reliable?" I asked.
"No more questions, Kaila. I want you to kill the mastermind," Alicia corrected.
Suddenly, the door behind us opened and the lights turned on. I hid behind the wall and listened to some footsteps approaching. They got closer and closer. They were wearing a white robe, like that of a doctor. They didn't notice me and continued to the other room.
"Who are they?" I asked.
"They are part of the organization, the ones who dissect people's bodies," Alicia replied.
"What am I supposed to do? Shall I stop them?"
"They aren't your enemies, but I give you the freedom to finish this task your own way," Alicia said.
I heard someone screaming for help from the room where those people entered. I slowly walked toward it. I glimpsed through the small hole on the door and saw what was inside. There was a girl lying on a bed. His hands and legs were tied. The three guys were doing something.
"Don't worry, baby. We'll be gentle," one of them said.
"No... please... I don't want to die..." the girl begged.
"You will not die, baby girl," the other man said.
I opened the door, and they looked at me. "Stop that!" I exclaimed.
"Oh my, it seems like we have a guest here," the guy said. "And what are you going to do if we won't?"
"I'll fucking kill you!" I warned them.
"And how would you do that?" The other guy asked and laughed. "Look, we're not joking here."
"And I'm not joking either," I replied.
"Take her. She can be sold too," the guy said.
The two guys walked toward me, but before they could touch my skin, I punched and kicked them. I slammed them against the walls until they lost consciousness.
"That..." The last guy trembled in fear. He had sat down on the floor.
"Unbelievable, right?" I asked.
"Uh, um," he nodded as I stepped closer to him. "Please... What are you going to do?"
"Why won't we do to you what you're going to do with this girl?" I suggested. I took the knife from the table and played it on his face until he cried in fear.
"Please... I don't want to die..." he begged.
"Don't worry. I will be gentle." I stabbed his stomach and pulled it out. I was about to enjoy playing with him by cutting his body parts, but it wouldn't be good to do that in front of a girl, so I stopped.
"You okay?" I immediately untied the girl.
"Thanks for saving me." She hugged me.
"You're safe now. Let's get out of here together."
The girl followed me as I continued to the office of the leader of this creepy organization. I told her to stay outside. I opened the door and saw some armed men standing around. Their boss was sitting on a swivel chair.
The men pointed their guns at me, but before they could shoot, the boss gestured for them to lower their guns. "What can I do for you, lady?" he asked.
"Can I have a word with you for a moment?" I replied.
"Follow me." The boss led me to a wide room. It was a tortured room. There was a bed, and chains were on it. "So, what is it that you want to talk about?" he asked.
"I want to discuss your death," I said, and we started walking in a circle, slowly, looking at each other, ready to fight. "Tell me, how do you want to die?"
"Why won't you answer your own question?" he asked. "Tell me, how do you want to die?"
"Me? Hahaha!" I chuckled.
The man suddenly grew pointed claws. His ears also grew longer. He had transformed into a creepy creature. He even grew wings. He attacked me.
I used wind magic to fly and fought him in the air. I found an opening and punched him in the face. He fell down on the floor, but he got up and continued fighting me. I thought he was a normal human, not a wing-footed bat.
"Hahahahaha!" He cackled like an old wizard. "You got me there, little girl, but I won't fall in the same hole twice. Fight me nice and fair."
"You have already fallen, man." I flew towards him and kicked his neck.
The wing-footed Batman hit the walls. His head and nose bled as he fell down. He looked flabby already. I approached him. He was still breathing, heavily, so I grabbed his head and broke his neck.
"Is he dead?" Alicia asked as she suddenly appeared behind me.
"Yeah," I said.
"Can you buy me some time? It'll be quick," Alicia said.
