Two other ladies were already seated. Pam smirked but quickly conceal it. I groaned. This is my worst day ever!
"Take your sits," she said
I walked sluggishly and sat down opposite her, while Ivan took the seat beside me.
"My name is Pamela Anderson and I'm your new editor," she said stressing the word 'editor'
I groaned
Who cares to know her name or if she's the new editor or not?
"She's your boss, remember," my subconscious mind said
I groaned
"Well, Nora and Ivan, I'm not your editor," she began
When she said that, I smiled
That's a relief
"But you've been assigned to me until your editor comes back," she said
I rolled my eyes
"When will she be back?" I asked
She chuckled
"Not she but he. He should be back in a few months" she said
"Months?"
"Yeah, months. Maybe six or seven months from now" she answered, smirking
"Which means you will have to put up with me Nora" she added calmly
I rolled my eyes
"Going straight to the point, I want you all to submit your article. I will go through it and get back to you" she said
"Yes ma'am" the rest answered
She looked at me and I look away
"I hope we'll be able to work together. That's all for now" she said
We stood up to leave but she called me back
"Nora, I've got an assignment for you," she said
I turned around to see her smirking. I know she's up to something but I won't give her the chance to get at me. After the rest left, I had to speak up
"Pam, what do you want?" I asked
"Hey, I'm your boss so you address me as one," she said
"What do you want me to do boss," I said with a hint of sarcasm
"I can sense the sarcasm but I'll pretend I don't," she said
Whatever
"Take this," she said
She gave me some papers
"I want you to go through them and send me a review of it," she said
I went through it carefully
"You want me to do your job for you?" I asked
She smirked
"No, I want to know if you're still as brilliant as you've always claimed" she replied
I groaned
"Look, Pam, I won't do this. I don't care if you think I'm brilliant or not"
She smiled
"Then get ready to go job hunting" she answered
"What?"
"I guess you're not deaf" she answered
I glare at her
"You can make use of the door when you're done glaring," she said not looking at me
I groaned and left the office
I've always known that with Pam there, it means more jobs and more stress. I went back to my office to quickly do the review. As I go through them, I noticed a lot of errors and unproven facts.
I groaned
How can you write an article on someone without a proven fact?
Who does that?
I picked up my pen to make some corrections. I will have to explain the rest verbally. I dropped the paper and then went through my review for the last time.
"Nora" Evans called
I groaned but quickly conceal it with a smile
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"Well I was thinking if you will like to have lunch with me," he said
I groaned
"It's not lunch break yet, right?" I asked, checking my time
"Shit!!" I cursed
It's a few minutes past 1 pm
"I think I'll pass on that, I've got so many works to do," I said
He smiled
"I'm so sorry" I cooed
"Come on, it's nothing," he said
"I'll see you around," he said
I watch him leave. I sigh. I wish I could go with him but I'm not used to going out with people, especially of the opposite gender. I hope he understands.
I stood up and went to Pamela's office, I mean my boss like she always wanted to be called. I knocked on the door and she asked me to enter.
"I'm done with your work and I also have my article. You can go through it, boss.."
I stressed the boss so well. I just want her to feel or sense the sarcasm.
"Do you always talk with sarcasm?" She asked
"I don't understand what your saying boss, but here is your work"
I dropped the papers and made to leave
"Nora, we're not done talking"
"I thought we are"
"Nora, I won't take this insolent attitude of yours" she yelled
I groan
"Pam, I do not want any trouble and I'll love it if you can excuse me"
"Nora!!!" She called
I walked out of her office and slammed the door
Who does she think she is?
Some sort of demi-goddess or what?
I groaned as I went back to my office. Is that one even an office? Let me just say work post. I rolled my eyes. Just the second day at work and I'm already feeling frustrated.
If Pam did not show up, maybe today would have been better! The sound from my stomach made me remember, that I've not eaten.
I groaned
I still have so many works on my table and over five hours before closure.
"Hey, I bought you this. Since you couldn't go with me" Evans said
"When did you come in?"
"Long enough to know you're hungry and need food" he answered with an eye roll
I chuckled in embarrassment
"You should eat up. You still have twenty minutes before lunch break is over" he said
He dropped the package on the table and turned to leave
"Thanks, Evans, " I cooed
"You're always welcome princess," he said and left
I smiled
I quickly opened it up. It was two hotdogs and a can of coke. I smiled. I can't remember the last time I ate this. I dug in immediately, munching on it happily.
"The Editor wants to see you," Ivan said
I groaned
Did someone send Pam to frustrate my innocent life? Huh?
I just finished eating and she wants me to come and do what?
"Did she tell you why she wants to see me?" I asked
"No" he shrugged
"She only asked me to call you," he said
I sigh
"I'll go see her"
I stood up and went to her office.
"You called me?"
"Yes I did," she said, not sparing me a glance
She kept checking through the files on the table. I got tired of standing and made to sit
"Get your stupid ass off my seat" she yelled
I groaned
"Whatever" I murmured
"Take this, go through it, and send me the review," she said
"I don't get you?"
"You don't have to," she yelled
"Just take this and do what I ask of you," she said, trying to be calm as possible
I batted my lashes and sigh
I drag the papers from her and left her office, angrily. As I walked through the passage, I bumped into someone, dropping my papers in the process
"Oh my, I'm so sorry!!" She cooed
I groaned and bent down to pick them. She also bent down to join me
"I'm so sorry" she cooed
"It's alright"
We packed everything and stood up together. She handed out the papers with her to me.
She smiled
"I'm Addison," she said
"Nora,"
"Nice, meeting you Nora" she whispered
"Nice meeting you too Addison"
"I'm new here, I just resumed today," she said
I groaned
She looks talkative!
"Welcome Addison" I muttered, getting tired of the conversation
"You look beautiful," she said. I groaned
"I've got to leave" I answered, walking away
"I like you Nora" she yelled but I ignore
Where did they get her from?
I went back to my work post and sat down. Soon, Evans came in with a girl, who happened to be miss talker
I groaned
Don't tell me, she's staying here!
"Hello everyone," Evans said to gain everyone's attention. We all turned to face him.
"Meet Addison Jackson. She'll be replacing Emma" he introduced
I groaned. I'm not in any way interested in this conversation.
"Nora, she will be sitting beside you. I'd love it if you could put her through" Evan said
I groaned
"Hey Nora," she said
I rolled my eyes
"Nice having you as a workmate" I whispered
She chuckled
"You'll help me settle down, right?" She asked after Evans's gone
I ignore her. I'm not in for some sort of chat
"You'll show me around," she said
I groaned
"Addy, can you please free me? I've got so many works to do" I groaned
She laughed
"I love that name you know my mom used to call me that before she............"
"Just shut up!!!!!!"
