"I met with a friend who once saw anna getting bullied".
(Few days ago).
"Cole"it was lily.she couldn't be called a friend nor could she be called a foe.
"What is it?"Cole asked emotionlessly.
"Can I talk to you for a second?"she had been trying to talk to Cole for sometime now but it was mission impossible.whenever she tried to talk,cole would chase her off.
"I thought I told you not to bother me?".he said walking away.
Cole wasn't in the mood for any discussions,not that he was always in mood before.
"ANY TIME I TRY TO TALK TO YOU,YOU ALWAYS CHASE ME AWAY.WHAT DID I DO TO YOU?,WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO MUCH?".lily shouted.
Seeing cole attitude towards her made so frustrated that she didn't try to hide it."Have I ever done something wrong to you?".
Hearing lily shouts made cole stop in his tracks,he clearly wasn't expecting lily's outburst."i don't hate you lily".
"Then why?"lily sighs"It has always been like this between us cole"lily paused "I am always the one trying to talk to you, always chasing you, begging you".
"You know?,I thought maybe I did something wrong, maybe...I don't know"lily shakes her head"I don't know anymore cole".
Cole listened to everything but said nothing."But after everything that has happened I realized that maybe I didn't do anything wrong that it wasn't my fault but on second thought maybe it is my fault".
Cole turned his head head a bit"What do you mean?".cole expected to get an answer but unexpectedly all he heard was lily's laughter."hahahaha...".lily didn't know why she laughed,it wasn't as if they saying something funny yet she laughed.
"What do you think?"lily taunts."I could mean a lot of things you know".
"You are not making any sense lily"lily knew it was true but she didn't care.
Currently lily didn't give a damn anymore"it's not as if I have ever made any sense to you".
Cole gave no reply to that."you know,I have always felt horrible because of you but anna...". anna's name had become a touchy subject for cole so there was no way he could ignore that."what do you mean by that?".
"Anna was nice to me,everytime you were rude to me anna was the one who gave me comfort"lily shakes her head slowly and bitterly."I don't know what would happen to me if not for anna.so I have always been grateful to her and I always will".
"So you can imagine how sad I was to hear about anna,anna my comforter".lily said as she bursts into tears.
Cole wasn't a people's person.he didn't know how to comfort someone because he had never been in a situation where he had to console or comfort anyone so naturally he couldn't console lily.
When he saw that they were getting stares he said"let's find somewhere to talk".
But it seemed like lily didn't hear him or didn't want to answer nevertheless she didn't make a move.
Seeing as lily wasn't listening he pulled her with him to find somewhere more appropriate to talk.
"I am sorry"Cole said.they were seated somewhere on the rooftop of their school.
Lily shakes her head"No, it's not your fault"lily sighs"I knew you didn't like me but I didn't want to accept it".
"I knew it was pointless but still...still I didn't want to give up easily".Cole knew it was his fault,if he hadn't ignored her maybe she wouldn't have felt the way she felt.he was too engrossed in his own world to think about someone else's feeling.
It was like that too with anna at first but somehow they ended up becoming friends and he ended up liking her.but that's a story for another day.
"Am sorry for causing you so much pain"cole said.he know no amount of sorry could change the past but still he can't help but to say sorry.
After that none of the two said anything.no noise could be help as their surrounding became silent.
While waiting for lily to calm down,cole looked at the sky in a deep thought.
He was so deep in thought that he didn't even realize that lily had calmed down."I saw anna getting bullied once"she said quietly.
She was waiting anxiously for cole's reaction but nothing happened.it was then she realized that cole was deep in thought.
"Cole"she called softly but got nothing so she tried again this time loudly"COLE". this time cole heard her but didn't say anything so she thought cole didn't hear her so just as she tried to shake him cole spoke up"I heard you".
"Then why didn't you answer me?".
"I am sorry"just as cole apologized he realized that he had said sorry few times already."I keep saying sorry".
"It's alright,am fine now".liily said.she had already calmed down.
"What did you want to say?".cole asked."I don't know if I should tell you or not but I want to". lily sighs."I want to get this over with".
"Then tell me lily, tell me".cole says.
"I saw anna getting bullied once".
