Step one is taking down a major bitch- Know your enemy. And Vicky knew her quite well. Demi grew up rich, spoilt and so she hated carrying her bags herself- She knew that. Demi liked shadows and so sat in dark corners like the bloodsucker she was - Vicky knew that as well. She stepped into SS two commerce class with a determined stance. A few students lingered around and they stared at her strangely for a while before resuming whatever it was that they were doing it. She made her way calmly to a back seat in the right corner and a familiar bag stared back at her. She didn't change her bag for the session? Vicky frowned in wonder. Demi had gotten that bag since the beginning of grade nine. It had been Stephanie's parting gift to the witch after the whole issue had happened. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she grabbed the bag and pulled the zipper. I have to find proof. I have to save Elijah. More like save yourself. Her conscience countered. "Hey! What are you doing with Demi's stuff?" Some girl screeched as Vicky emptied the bag's content onto a desk. Vicky felt her mouth sour. "She asked me to get her wristwatch. And I don't see how this is any of your business, so beat it!" "Sorry." The girl mumbled and buried her head in a book. She rolled her eyes and scanned through Demi's bag. Her phone wasn't there. The books were wrapped in pink wrapping papers and scrawly handwriting. There has to be something. An identity. A home address or something. Demi always used a real address when writing letters and essays - Vicky knew that too. She picked up the English Language book, hurriedly scanning through the pages for essays and letters. "There should be an address in letter writing class." She murmured as she flipped the leaves. "God! This is going to take forever." She groaned. "I...Is her wr...wristwatch in the books?" The annoying girl from earlier spoke up again. She sat three seats away with a short haircut and a few spots of acne on her light face. Vicky felt her blood boil. She marched up to the girl and grabbed her chin forcefully. "Shut the fudge up and leave me the fudge alone! That PG enough for you or shall I go all out?" She bit out nastily. "S-sorry." The girl stuttered.
"If you interrupt me once more-" "Everybody Someone bolted into the class screaming like a demented mad person. "Fighting in the west! Demi's fighting with some girl and it is so baaaddddasss, I swear!" Oh no! Tokunbo what did you do? Vicky wondered as she watched people rush out of the class. She contemplated running as well but turned around to finish her search.
Come on!
Come on, come on, come...
"Yes!" She threw a fist in the air when she finally found an address. "49th Abosede street, Olugbooro." Grinning wolfishly, she whipped her phone out to take a picture of the address and then proceeded to shove all the books back in the bag. A picture fell at her feet. She picked it up with shaky fingers. Stephanie's face stared straight at her. The originator of all their problems. She closed her eyes tight to conceal the sudden pain that rushed through her. "Soon." She whispered as she dropped the picture into Demi's bag. "It'll be over soon." **** Betty The basement wasn't dark and creepy. The Skylars had put up lights and made it look quite homey; if you could overlook the dust, musky smell and cigarette butts lining the floor. Betty took a huge bite out of her doughnut as she surveyed the area. There were worn-out sofas in an area surrounded by stacks of sacks. Filled with what? She wondered Drugs or dead bodies, take your pick. She shivered and looked away. Her eyes fell on a wall. The word "SKIES" hung on the wall in artistic graffiti. Like a mouse, she scurried towards the wall to survey it. If they had beaten up Enoch in this area, they could've dropped something in the process. Something they'd have buried already. She stared at the ground before her sullenly. Even if she wanted to dig; which she didn't want to; there were no tools to do so. Huffing she took another bite of her doughnut, nodded at the burst of flavours on her tongue and pondered what to do next. "Who the fuck are you?!" A tall muscular guy with a pink tint in his long hair stared at her in contempt. Betty felt herself shrink under his gaze when she turned around. "Ah... I- Sorry." The rest of her doughnut slipped from her grip onto the sandy ground. "I asked a question!" He fumed. His light skin turned slightly red. "Wetin happen Ugo?" Another muscular guy asked in a deep voice as he sauntered into the area. He paused when his dark eyes found Betty and grinned. "She thick Mahn." Betty felt her face burn at his words. She swallowed the lump in her throat and tried to walk past them. The guy named Ugo blocked her path and stared down at her with blazing eyes. "I. Asked. A. Question." He hissed. Betty stared up at him wide-eyed. She considered seducing her way out and cringed at the thought. She had to do this another way. Pasting a smile on her face, she stretched out a hand. "Hi. I'm Elizabeth. And yes, I am named after the queen herself." Ugo narrowed his eyes and took a step closer. "Who are you Elizabeth?" Who am I? Who am I? "A very concerned person." She blurted out. The two guys exchanged glances and looked at her incredulously. She cleared her throat and steeled herself. "Your gang beat up Enoch. And then you nasty people blame a poor guy who knew nothing about it. How are your consciences treating you by the way?" She watched the way Ugo's brows furrowed in confusion. "How...how do you know this?!" He yelled reaching for her arms. "Easy there. I am right in front of you. No need to yell. At least not when I'm in striking distance. I'm pretty sure your voice is over six hundred Decibels. That's pretty risky for my ears if you ask me-" "Shut up!" The other guy yelled and walked closer to them. "How do you know this?!" Come on Betty. "How else would I?" She grinned. "My dear friend can't stop talking about how he has you all in the palm of her hands. She says she can make you do all her biddings,-" she snapped her fingers. "in just one snap. It is quite pathetic to see how the great and mighty Skylars have fallen. I used to be a fan of such ardour and power. And now a mere girl has you all by the necks. Do you know what my dear friend plans to do? Oh, forget it I cannot tell. She is my friend after all." "Tell me." Ugo ground out gripping her arms tightly. Too tightly. Betty moaned in pain. He let go of her and walked a few steps away tugging at his hair. "When we go do Emma?" The other guy stared at Betty who was rubbing her arms. "I no trust her. " Ugo scoffed. "As if a matter of trust be this. Me sef dey reason am. Why Demi go dey do all this way? I get to say she got beef with them, but why she dey use us? Emthinksink am. She fit get revenge any way na, but why she branch our side?" Emma groaned and shook his head as if clearing his thoughts. Betty saw that as an opportunity to get the hell out. "I have said what I have to say. If Demi has that much power over you, then your gang has a new leader. Her. It is up to you to break the chains or let her win. And the Skylars I've heard about wouldn't consider the second option. Ever." And with her heart pounding wildly in her chest and her head held up high, she walked out of the basement.
