Chapter 022

Frederick POV
I knew something was off the second I tasted the drink.
Mira was cunning, way too cunning for her own good. And while her robe, her body, her voice had done their best to distract me, I had lived through far too many betrayals to ignore that bitter trace beneath the alcohol.
She thought she was playing me but she had no idea I was letting her.
Her skin was warm beneath my hands, her pulse fluttering like a trapped bird when I pinned her wrists down. She arched against me, lips parted, moaning softly as if she were the one in control.
But I saw it now. Behind the seduction, the confidence. The glint in her eyes wasn’t just desire.
She wanted something more.
As I stared down at her, my breath heavy, I let myself imagine giving in fully and fucking her until she screamed, marking her until she couldn’t walk without remembering me.
And I did exactly that.
Even as the haze began to blur the edges of my thoughts, I kept going, thrusting into her with everything I had, my grip tightening on her hips as she bounced beneath me, wild and breathless.
I couldn't let her breast go. They were teasing me with that dance so I leaning in and sucked on one, recklessly bitting her nipple occasionally.
"Fuck... You're so damn juicy." I groaned, trying to choke myself on her entire breast which still couldn't fit in my mouth.
My wolf hungered for more and so did I as I lifted her legs till they were on either side of her head.
“More,” she gasped, her voice breaking, nails clawing at my back. “God, Frederick... Fuck me harder! Don’t stop!” she screamed like there was no one close to hear her.
I wasn’t going to stop. Not until she forgot every game she thought she was playing. Not until I branded every inch of her body with the memory of mine.
But fuck, my head swam. My vision flickered for a second too long, the room tilting like a slow spin. She’d dosed me. Not enough to knock me out, but just enough to try and weaken me. To dull the edge.
I don't know what it was meant to do but It only made me rougher.
I grabbed her wrists again, pinned them above her head with one hand, my body driving into hers harder, deeper. She cried out, her thighs trembling around me.
She whimpered, but there was that smile again, shaky but wickedly proud. Like she wanted me furious. Like she wanted to be ruined.
“You’ll remember this,” I muttered, my rhythm unrelenting.
Mira POV
Every bruising thrust. Every growl he spilled into my skin. The way his teeth grazed my breast like he wanted to tear it apart, like he was barely holding back the wolf inside him.
I would remember it all.
Because I’d gotten exactly what I needed.
Not just his body but a part of his soul. The wild, untamed, vicious part that he tried to hide under all that cold, controlled armor. I’d pulled it out of him, made it bare, made it mine… even if just for a night.
He had never had sex with me ever since I became his Luna and it sickened me every time I had to think how he might still be attached to my sister after marking me.
But thanks to this substance from my father, I finally had Frederick drilling my hole like it was his last day on earth.
Yes, he knew. He tasted the drug. I could tell he knew I’d slipped something into the drink. But he didn’t know why and didn't care at this point.
...
I woke up the next morning alone in the bed, the sheets still tangled around my legs and soaked with the scent of what we’d done. My thighs ached, my skin stung in places where his nails had dug in too hard, too desperate, and I loved it.
But there was no warmth beside me now. No Frederick. Just cold sheets and the echo of his last groan before he released inside me still ringing in my ears.
I sat up slowly, brushing the hair from my face. My body hummed with satisfaction, but my mind was already racing ahead. He’d come to me like a beast starved of touch, and I’d fed him poison and pleasure in equal measure. I had him now, whether he wanted to admit it or not.
I wrapped myself in a robe and stepped out of the room, intending to retreat to my bedroom before the servants started their usual gossip.
But I barely took a step into the hallway before I caught sight of my father standing at my door.
“I trust it worked,” he said flatly, his gaze dipping briefly to my disheveled state. “Was he… receptive?”
My throat dried up, but I nodded, just once.
Calden gave a tight smile, the kind that never reached his eyes. “Good. Then I'd have to let you know now. There's another trouble and she's from the Frost Moon pack."
"I don't understand." I replied, staring at my father with a confused look on my face.
He then flashed me a letter I hadn't noticed he was hiding under his cloth. There was a seal on it. One that I knew belonged to the Alpha of the Frost Moon pack.
Then Calden continued,
"This came from the sister of the Beta and she knows."
"Knows what?" I asked.
Calden looked around, making sure it was just us before he dragged me into my own room.
"She knows I sent the Alpha's spy to kill Scarlett."
"What?! How?!" I exclaimed.
Did this have to happen when things were just getting better?
"She requested I meet her at the border." Calden informed.
"And you're going?" I questioned.
"It's not like I have a choice." he answered, "I can handle myself well enough. There's no problem if she wants to become a partner in crime but if she dares to threaten the Better of the Blood Horn pack..."
