Chapter 16 Alpha Dawson

Dawson frowns at her vague answer. “What does that mean?” he asks curiously.
Iris then glances up at him again. “Do you want me to leave again?” she then asks suddenly.
“No!” Dawson yells instantly in protest again, not wanting her to leave. “But I don’t understand what you did to her?” he repeats again.
Iris shrugs tiredly again. “I did what had to be done.”
Dawson stares at her again, realizing she killed his mother. “It’s okay,” he tells her softly. He understood what she did.
Iris blinks suddenly at his words. She hadn’t expected him to be so understanding. “Thank you for understanding,” she tells him thankfully.
Dawson nods instantly again in understanding. “Anytime.”
Iris grins suddenly too in happiness. “I love you, Alpha Dawson.”
“I love you too, Alpha Mate Iris,” Dawson then responds happily.
Jonathan watches them and smiles, glad his mom and dad are happy again. He then looks away shyly, not wanting them to see his smile.
Dawson notices Jonathan and grins too. He then steps towards their son and hugs him. “We love you too, Jonathan.”
Jonathan beams again at his dad’s words, happy he loves him.
“Let’s have dinner,” Iris then suggests suddenly, breaking up their hug.
They all nod instantly again in agreement too.
Iris heads towards the kitchen to start cooking, but then turns back around. “Why don’t you two shower again?” she tells them. “You smell like sweat.”
Dawson and Jonathan laugh suddenly at her words. But then agree and go to take another shower.
After their shower, they come out again dressed in clean clothes.
Iris then smiles at them. “Come sit down,” she greets happily too.
They walk over and sit down, happy to eat again.
After they eat, they all do the dishes together and then head to their room. They fall asleep instantly again from exhaustion.
The next morning, Dawson wakes up again and gets up.
He then goes to wake up his son, not wanting him to be late for school again. “Wake up,” he tells him softly.
Jonathan opens his eyes and then looks at his dad, groggy from sleep. “What time is it?” he mumbles.
“It’s 7:30,” Dawson answers. “You need to get up.”
Jonathan nods sleepily and then stretches, sitting up. “Okay.”
Dawson steps back and smiles. “Hurry up. You have to catch the bus at 8:30.”
Jonathan nods again tiredly and then stands up, going into the bathroom.
Dawson goes down the hall to their room and knocks on the door. “Iris,” he greets softly through the door.
Iris opens the door with a smile, holding a mug of coffee in her hand. “Morning.”
He smiles weakly too at her smile. “Good morning.”
She hands him her mug of coffee. “Here. You look like you need this.”
Dawson takes it, surprised that she had made coffee for him. “Thank you,” he greets happily in thanks.
Iris smiles again at his thanks. “It’s no problem.” She then turns back and goes back into their room. “Have fun on your run with Jonathan.”
Dawson blinks again at her permission, not expecting her to say that. “Okay.” He is glad she is letting him do things with their son again.
He walks back into the kitchen and sits down at the table with his coffee.
Jonathan comes down a few minutes later and smiles at his dad happily. “Ready?”
Dawson nods suddenly in understanding, remembering they were going to run together. He stands up, finishing his coffee, and then places the mug in the sink. “Let’s go.”
They both leave the house and then start running.
“Can we go further this time?” Jonathan asks suddenly curiously again after they start running.
Dawson glances down at his son in surprise at his question. “Are you sure you can go further?” he then asks doubtfully.
Jonathan nods stubbornly again in confidence. “I can go as far as I want,” he assures happily.
Dawson raises an eyebrow suddenly in surprise at his confidence again, but then nods. He trusted his son to be honest about his limits. “Okay.”
They run for hours, enjoying the sunshine and scenery.
Eventually, they return home, tired and sweaty.
“I need a shower,” Jonathan greets instantly after they get home.
Dawson nods weakly in agreement again too. “Me too.”
They both head to their room to take showers.
After their shower, Dawson goes back downstairs to wait for their son.
Jonathan comes down a minute later and then looks at him, grinning. “I have a surprise,” he tells him suddenly.
Dawson blinks at his surprise announcement. “What is it?”
Jonathan smiles and then pulls a key out of his pocket. “I fixed your truck!” he announces happily.
Dawson gapes suddenly at Jonathan’s announcement, not expecting that. He had never asked Jonathan to fix his truck. He didn’t want him to be burdened with more responsibilities. “How did you fix it?” he then asks curiously suddenly. He wanted to know how he had done it.
Jonathan smiles again at his question. “It was easy.”
Dawson shakes his head suddenly, not believing that. “No, it was not.”
Jonathan smiles at his doubt. “Maybe not for you,” he teases. “But it was easy for me.”
Dawson narrows his angry eyes at his teasing words. He doesn’t like to be teased. “Maybe it was for you,” he replies stubbornly back.
Jonathan chuckles at his stubbornness. He then nods. “Fine.”
Dawson grins suddenly, knowing he agreed that it was easy for Jonathan to do.
Jonathan then grins back too. “Do you want to see it?”
Dawson nods quickly at his question. “Yes.”
