Chapter Twenty-four

Lyra didn't make things stay the same for a long time. She held her hand, and they suddenly disappeared from the spot where they were standing. In a heartbeat, they emerged inside Hada's house. Lyra immediately delivered the woman inside her bedroom, which was filled with maggots.
"What's happening to your friend is indeed caused by dark magic, but don't worry, I can easily drive these maggots away, but first you must promise me that you will give me what I want," Chichari said.
"Don't worry, I'm not the same as those people who are just saying promises without fulfilling them," Lyra replied.
"If you're telling the truth, you must imitate the words that I will be saying so that you can mark your own words."
"If I don't, my life will be filled with darkness for the rest of my life." Lyra imitated Chichari's words.
Lyra felt relieved to see maggots that suddenly disappeared from the whole house. Chichari is no doubt, powerful, although the truth is that she was the one who caused everything for her personal goals.
"Your problem is solved!" She exclaimed. "I need to go home now because there are many things that I need to do. Don't forget about the hair that you must give me, or else you won't like what will happen."
Chichari suddenly disappeared. At the same time, Lyra made some steps towards her friend, who was still lying on her upholstered bed. Everything has come back to normal, and so does her best friend. The silence wants to prevail again, as if there's nothing wrong that happened and Lyra's friend is just in deep dormancy.
Tears of joy and gratitude from Lyra's eyes seemed to fall while looking at her friend, but she wiped them with her index finger. She doesn't know what to do if Hada leaves, because even though she's sometimes stubborn, she's still one of her best friends and she loves her.
Lyra is very exhausted because of what has happened throughout the day. She required rest for her physical, mental, and emotional well-being. As a result, she stood up straightly and inhaled deeply, then emitted a long, deep breath. She let Hada sleep and walked out of her bedroom, then slammed all the doors and windows. She turned off all the lights and went inside the bedroom where she was sleeping.
Despite being exhausted, Lyra could still remove her eyeglasses and cloak before going to bed. Her curly, white hair is diaphanous in the dark as it catches light from the slight moonlight that enters through the little crack in the window. Even the white and flawless skin on her legs reflected darkness.
The upholstered bed looked good for a deep dormancy, and it seduced Lyra to lay down. She covered her whole body with the thick blanket. When she woke up, it was already morning, and the sun's light strokes entered through the little crack in the window of her bedroom.
The door thudded when Lyra pulled it. Immediately, she went towards the bedroom of Hada to know if she was just okay after what had happened during the night.
"She's not here. Maybe she's just okay."
Lyra closed the door and went to the living room, but Hada wasn't there either. Before the princess of weirdness could have a bad hunch, someone suddenly and firmly held her shoulder. So firm that it reaches her deepest bones—as if someone would not let her go.
In the meantime, the martial arts movements that she learned from her beloved father showed up. It was her father who taught her how to defend herself from those people who wanted to hurt her. Meanwhile, she tried her best to defeat someone that wanted to hurt her, but she could not. Until Lyra realizes that it was the girl who mastered all types of martial arts.
"Hada!" Lyra exclaimed. "Good morning, how are you? I'm hoping that you're just fine." Worries showed up on her face.
Lyra removed her hands that were holding Hada's shoulder; whereas, Hada didn't remove her hands that were holding her's, but not as firmly as she had just a while ago, because the princess of weirdness felt a bit comfortable with it.
Hada looked so serious, and she didn't even say anything. She's just looking directly at Lyra's eyes. Like a girl who's out of her mind. Harshly bitter, but she wanted to hurt anyone who stood in her way. She just performed her martial techniques on Lyra, as she wanted to train herself by using her friend as a punching bag, and it's not just an ordinary training, but drastically, emotionally, and seriously, not a joke.
"Hada, what are you doing? Don't you know me?" Lyra asked.
Again, Hada didn't say anything; she just continued doing what she was doing. She felt the difficulties of avoiding her ardour attacks as she kicked and punched the princess of strangeness. Hada looks so enraged at her, as if she will do everything to hit the girl.
"Please don't do anything that can lose our friendship, and please stop this, because I don't want to hurt you," Lyra implored.
She's a robot! Hada is just doing what she wants to do and not stopping to push and kick the pitiable girl. One last punch ended her life.
It's already midnight. Lyra suddenly splattered as she woke up from her bad dream that seemed more real than reality. She sat down on her bed and remained silent. Perhaps, she had a bad dream because many things were messing with her mind before she went to bed.
Soliloquized: "I'm still grateful that everything was just a bad dream and far from the truth, because if it's real, I don't know where someone would pick me up."
Did she do something wrong that hurt her friend? Is the question that crossed her mind. She's curious why Hada would try to hurt her regardless of the thing that she did for her. She's trying to solve the conundrum, and can't fall asleep again because of it.
She tried to scrutinize every angle of what had happened throughout the day to find the thing that could make her sad, angry, and envious. Right! It was envious, because she saw Hada's expression when she told her about what she had talked about with Kesrick.
On the mainland of Antipatris, a place where wickedness is slowly spreading and good people are gradually infected by the darkness, people who don't know if goodness could still prevail for a long time, because recently, the kingdom of Antipatris is experiencing civilization.
Ylarry had just woken up. He's wearing a fit shirt that's torn on both sides, as it's styled so that someone could not feel warm. He felt uncomfortable, not just because of his shirt but also because his trousers that were too tight, as everybody could see his meat and two vegs because of it.
"I hope that my parents and brother could not see me in this condition, else they would surely scold me. I don't know what doom is waiting for me here, but I can do nothing until I regain my straight so that I can go back to my home before the competition."
The door cried out. Someone glimpsed into the room. She's none other than the scarlet woman. Laurel is just wearing a yellow miniskirt, shorts, and a sleazy shirt. Like a duck, Laurel slowly walks towards Ylarry, who's still lying on the piled pillows on his back.
"Ylarry, you are already awake. How are you? Are you just okay? Do you want to eat or drink something? A coffee? Food or drinks?" Laurel asked. Her eyes sparkle with worries.
She sat down on the upholstered bed beside Ylarry and just stared at his cheek while pouting her lips. Ylarry didn't reply to Laurel; they were just looking at each other's faces. Actually, the prince of goodness is so hungry from eating nothing throughout the day, but meanwhile, he's ashamed to be served by the girl she didn't even know well. He doesn't want her to think that he's futile.
"Don't be ashamed, dear, tell me what you want," Laurel said. "Just wait here, I will just get food for you, because you might be hungry that you have not eaten."
Laurel was surprised when she stood up, as Ylarry grabbed her hands. It made her think of something delirious. Ylarry's eyes are sparkling as he expresses gratitude for her.
"Why did you grab my hand?" Laurel asked. "Don't say that you don't want me to leave you here alone."
Hearing those words, Ylarry immediately removed his hands from Laurel's. He avoided having eye-to-eye contact with her as if he felt ungentlemanly about himself, although just because of holding someone's hand without their consent.
"You don't need to deny it."
"Huh?" Ylarry asked. "What do I need to deny? I just want to say thank you for helping me, and no other than that, so please trust me."
"Are you sure? Don't you want to let me stay here with you for a while, or even have a little feeling for me?" The words totally came out of Laurel's lips, then she sat down beside Ylarry, seemed to lie over his body.
"Feelings for you?" Ylarry is curious. "Why are you asking me that? Don't tell me that you have feelings for me."
"Honestly, you guessed it right. If you just know, I won't help nor serve a stranger, especially if I don't have feelings for him." Laurel totally perched her body over his hard abdomen.
Ylarry was surprised because of Laurel's behavior, which seemed to be that of a prostitute. In the mean time, he doesn't want to hurt anyone, even just by using bad words that describe her personality and behavior.
"Sorry Laurel, I just want to be frank, but we have different feelings. Honestly, I don't even have any feelings for you because there's someone who made me fall in love."
Ylarry is still cool as a cucumber, though he's trying to push the delirious harlot away from his body. But because his arms were aching and he was still feeling weak, he could not stop her. The girl seems like a leech who wanted to suck Ylarry's blood.
"Please Laurel, let's stop this. It's appropriate not to do this thing for me and you, because we have different feelings." He tried to prevent himself from being tempted by her.
Laurel tries to push Ylarry's button and get him undone. Unexpectedly, they slipped out of the reverie because of their hard and warm bodies. Not long after, Laurel realized that she must not lose her dignity just because of the boy whom she admired. She sprang out of Ylarry's warm body, fixed herself and walked out of the room as if nothing had happened to them.
Meanwhile, Ylarry felt relieved, comfortable, and grateful that he could not experience the shotgun marriage. That's definitely what Laurel and Thoreau had planned to do, but it seemed that the delirious harlot was not yet ready. Ylarry fastened his shirt and tried to stop himself from thinking about what happened.
Inside the kitchen, Laurel is thinking deeply about what to do for Ylarry to make him fall in love with her, because she knows that they can't be happy if Ylarry doesn't love her. It would be unfair to say that she's just the one showing admiration for him, because there's someone who made him fall in love, and for sure, it wasn't her, because if he does, he won't avoid making something delirious with her.
"I should know that woman who made Ylarry fall in love. I won't doubt killing whoever she is, so that nobody can get my Ylarry from me."
She seemed to forget her promise to Thoreau, because she was just thinking about herself and the boy that she just knew, but she accidentally fell in love with him because of his characteristics. Ylarry isn't just handsome, but kind, considerate, caring, loyal, and Laurel knows that boys like him are difficult to find, hence she doesn't want to waste this opportunity to have a perfect lover.
Firstly, she needs to get Ylarry's disposition. Laurel immediately gets a tray and puts the plate of food and a glass of Adam's ale on it and brings them inside Ylarry's room. Laurel looked so submissive at this time, but for sure, it was all a maneuver of her personal intentions.
"Your breakfast is ready," Laurel said.
